  • wow

  • Anyone has some idea just how exactly does one 'whistle' with their throat? Video got me interested in the mechanics of it, but I couldn't find anything on it, and it doesn't seem to be just extreme overtone singing.

  • @boobiesv2 it is overtone singing

  • Comment removed

  • Wow. Very nice, unique.

  • Mongols must be damn proud about their traditions and history.

  • My world history teacher loves the Mongols. I love this. Wonerful... :)

  • I bet his children have incredible lung capacity! This makes me want to learn how to throat sing now!

  • It's like he's growling, singing and whistling at the samet time.

  • @Zeta9966

Hi there, it is from Spectrasonics sample library, "Symphony of Voices" I think.

  • @Zeta9966 It's from "Vocal Planet". You can hear the sample on the spectrasonics web site.

But I wonder where THEY recorded it. It's very good singing.

  • @xDJaycee Yeah you can, but it's not THAT pressing of an issue once you find out.

    Derp.

  • Algol and Pbat was the only reason I came here

  • So the whistle tones is from his voice?

  • @halcyonacoustic yes and no...the whistles are actually overtones, so he's not singing them (you can sometimes hear the low note he does sing to produce them, though), but it's the vibrations from his voice that are actually creating the other sounds inside the mouth.

  • PBATPBATPBAT(:

  • @paniclover4ever its called a "morin khuur", beautiful sounding instrument isn't it?

  • Comment removed

  • What is the name of that instrument? I'd love to know

  • @paniclover4ever they use a hel khuur which is a jews harp and a shudraga which is a banjo like insrument

  • Stunningly beautiful and heartfelt. There is so much coming from the heart as well as the throat. I think that says everything I could possibly say. Fantastic.

  • Anyone remember those plastic hollow tubes that when you swung them around they'd make a weird multi-tonal noise? This reminds me of that.

  • @BrokenWingman ....hardly hollow or plastic....this, but i hear what you mean

  • Love and respect from Turkey to our Mongolian cousins! Long live Mongolia and Mongolian culture!

  • Wow that's really impressive and interesting! CNN brought me here, I really enjoyed this. Thanks for posting!

  • Sounds like a dairy queen mixer! Damn you Mongolian, now I have to go get a Blizzard!!!

  • thanks for the posting, I'm truly amazed by this

  • amazing... how they do that..

  • Is this on an album of sorts? I'd love to have it.

  • @Zeanu You can order an album of traditional Mongolian music called “Plains of the elite” from amazon.com (couldn't find it on .co.uk, but they deliver this item internationally .My copy is on its way. XD)

Also type the album name into youtube search bar, some of the tracks have been uploaded.

  • Powerful stuff. When the video stopped, I remembered I am supposed to breathe.

  • Holy smokes!!!

  • Magnífico. Gratitude profound.

  • Sometimes, comments coming from ignorant people, too bad , they know only a few things from their villages...i love these ,harmonic voice is the base of music...

  • fantastico!

  • Epic and beautiful!!!!

  • Don't know if anyone saw this but there was a throat singer from america on America's got Talent, and the judges pressed their buttons without giving him chance, they had no idea what throat music was and dismissed it straight away, Idiots.Throat music is amazing as is the Mongolian spirit and way of life, we can all learn something from you. Philly from England

  • @phillyP84 Those folks sitting their are plain ignorant. Sadly, those are the 'educated' people millions take for the crème de la crème. ... Sharon Osborne, David Hasselhoff, Pierce ... ???

  • @rich8642

    > but as far as his "singing" goes, it isn't really singing at all, just making a strange sound through use of throat muscles and/or tongue.

"making a strange sound through use of throat muscles and/or tongue" is actually a pretty good definition of singing, so what's your point?

  • JUST LOVE IT!!!

  • This song is also the title song of the Tibetan movie "The Cup".

  • Wonderful music. Love it.

  • Thank fuck they're singing now, instead of conquering the rest of the world!

  • Great music

  • Amazing

  • I've read that it can have layers of harmony, but all I've ever been able to hear is the underlying drone with the higher pitched melody.

  • @xr280xr That's largely due to recording equipment quality, or lack thereof.

  • this is fantastic!!

  • I never saw one lousy Ger in Dersu Uzala. Please explain?

  • @32AllStaR It is a real instrument or else it wouldn't be in his hands. I know this is old but just a thought :P

  • What is the string instrument he is playing?

  • @brrapscrollcheck Horse fiddle

  • voice sounds like a didgeridoo

  • @brrapscrollcheck it's called a morin khuur

  • Uudam tselger nutag-tai

    Urtin saihan duu-tai

    Morin huur-in egshig-tei

    Mongol-in saihan nutag im-aa.

    Vast spacious land-with

    Long's beautiful song-with

    Horse fiddle's sound-with

    Mongolia's beautiful land it-is-hey

  • i find so much Peach within music, just like this one, There is so much more to the music for them then it is for us.. The spiritual energy that they put in the music is just P.U.R.E...

  • @KamTheOnly Peace**** lmao xD

  • as soon as i saw this guys face i think of Genghis khan

  • This is just amazing. That's all I can say.

  • How, how, HOW is this done? I can't even master circular breathing, jeez.

  • as a choir singer i know this is amazing.

  • AMAZING

  • never got my overtone so piercing dominant like that. Respect!

  • It's incredible! There is a certain mystery about the song that makes me shiver.

  • I've been studying throat singing for years, I'm no where near able to do what this guy can do. did you hear him sing with his vocal chords, sing with his throat, and make perfect pitched harmonics with his tongue at the same time??? All while playing perfect morin hur. Thanks for the video!

  • eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

  • @SID480 wondering if I could attract more viewers by using this comment as video title. Thanks for watching.

  • @peterlaikc at your response to SID480: Laughing Out Loud. Really :-)

  • @peterlaikc You definately could if you used ghazporks comment "24 people shall be crushed under the hooves of our mighty horde" !

  • @SID480 You've been practicing.

  • @SID480 Perhaps this is the inspiration for "benny lava"! watch?v=sdyC1BrQd6g

  • @SID480 Agreed.

  • @SID480

I trust the most thumbed-up comments.

  • @johnknoefler Yea, your error is, as from my understanding, you've been told 'NO Politics' here smart guy.

  • thanks for sharing, greetings from venezuela

  • how the hell do they wissle with there mouth open so wide

  • @bentotheclarke They are using thier tongue against the roof of the mouth.

  • FUUUUUUCK UUU WHALE AND FUUUUUUCK UUU DOLPHEEEEEN

  • Now with five new types of livestock!

  • @Lepiotaphage are you shure your comment is not offensive?

  • @diazconias Well I didn't mean for it to be offensive...I just found it funny the way the song's lyrics advertise the number of different kinds of livestock Mongolia has.

  • absolutely breathtaking

  • I never, ever thought I'd hear someone...much less a man...hit a higher octave than Mariah Carey, and with not only one...but TWO voices!! Amazing! And the string instrument is very beautiful. It's interesting, because it's sound is so reminiscent of music I was raised on, as a southerner in America. Thank you for this video!!

  • beautiful throat song~~~~~~~~~~ Hummie~~~~~~~~

  • Thanks for posting/uploading.

  • @breakfastisgo

Then, I might start calling you "hereo" too. Now, you get the definition, don't ya?

  • This sucks ass, how could anyone like this crap?

  • @RubberDucksPWN Aw, come on. It isn't crap. It's a part of Mongolian culture. Don't be so closed-minded. Learn something from this. Listen to those high notes and overtones he's hitting! :) Appreciate it as an art form, or part of a history taken for granted. Surely there's something good you can learn, yeah?

  • @Malleolust IMO he sounds like a toad lol

  • @RubberDucksPWN I can't disagree with you totally.

  • @LSKClaireRedfield you're an idiot, it's a style of singing that originated in Mongolia. That doesn't mean that it only belongs to Mongolia. This man is simply showing an incredible skill, so please stop with these unnecessary and ignorant comments, and leaves since you obviously don't appreciate the video.

  • @Domionofpower excuse me, it wasn't just mongolia, it's part of many many countries across the globe

  • @LSKClaireRedfield

Whatever or whoever you wanna FxxK....hmm.., from your spelling skill, I think there is nothing to do with Chinese. Thanks.

  • @peterlaikc Many Mongolians do not wish to be called Chinese. Just like many Navaho I have met loathe mexicans and hate to be spoken to in spanish.

  • @johnknoefler Mongolians are always Mongolians. Even for those Mongolians living in Inner Monoglia (China). That's why I upload this footage to emphasis the art of Mongolia. Art never has a geographic boundary. But truely, it is a video recorded in Inner Mongolia. Meaning that, within the border of China or not, Mongolians are preserving their culture well. That is to be understood by art lovers. Thus, any politcal debate would look naive on this channel. Thanks for viewing.
