"russia and Poland were partners that fought against same enemy..." Poland was fighting germany AND russia because russia INVADED Poland. Who stabs their "partner" in the back by attacking them and killing their people?
"no one can rewrite history..." Well russia sure as hell did a GREAT job, brainwashing its people and the people of other countries under their control at the time.
U dont now what is it all about... Poland and Russia are now fighting for leadership of Slavic countries. If Russians apologize us they will lose and it ll be end of their new imperialistic demands.
stalin was just as evil as hitler. russia and germany signed a secret pact to split up eastern europe. the red army did not liberate one single country in eastern europe. stalin enslaved every country the red army entered. blah blah putin is a dick.
Ofcourse there was a long pause in Russian/Polish relationship the Polish people need time to get over the trauma of being dominated by Russia for decades.
I think Putin is a very good leader for the Slavic people. I am very happy that he is in Poland for the ww2 aniversary. The Polish leadership should realize that the best thing for Poland is a good relationship with Russia and the other Slavic countries. Putin and other Slavic leaders should focus on establishing a Pan-Slavic Union, a union like this would be the strogest militarily and economicaly. The bad thing is Polish leaders are anti-Poland foregin agents in my opinion.
CSHOOLIGAN: The Russian leadership needs to realize that if it wants a good relationship with Poland it needs to apologize for the invasion of Poland on September 17, 1939, they need to apologize for the Katyn murders, they need to apologize for the deporatation of a million and a half of Polish civilians to Siberia, they need to apologize for the 45 years of occupation of Poland after WWII. Only then can the relationship get better. The ball is in the Russian's court, so to speak.
We all know that many bad things happened during those times to everyone. Polish people were sent to siberia and so did millions of Russians and others. All those things were done equaly to everyone, not even people close to Stalin were safe, Molotovs wife was sent to the gulags. The Russian leadership admited to what happened, an apology will not change what happened and it wont make a difference. Russians Saving the Slavic people from extermination is what counts.
CSHOOLIGAN: Yes, an apology will not change what happened but it will go a long way in changing the relationship of Poland with Russia for the better. It is the first BIG step that Russia seems not to be able to take. I don't know what they're afraid of ???
Russia will never admit to anything. They will just twist history.
Add to that the failed Warsaw uprising. The Polish partisans were about to route the Germans in the city, but the Russians who were already at the gates, withheld their advance because the partisans were non-communists. As a result, the Germans were able to send reinforcements and crushed the uprising killing 20,000 partisans!
Can't blame the Poles for not trusting the Russians. Anyway, who does!
The Munich Pact was signed by Germany and United Shitdom, France with Poland
on side with that, fact Poland was not expecting it to happen with the Soviet Union on the other side, the Soviet-Nazi pact was aguarantee that ussr would not be invaded in years as it was kind of blackmailing
There was no invasion in this day. Poland's gov-t and military commandment was outside of the country (it means that there was no more Poland as a state) and ordered to polish troops to do no resistance to Red army. Anyway, those lands were annexed by Poland in 1920's and were returned in 1939th. All is quite fair.

Goebbels' provocation, a german cryme. Only poles belives in "russian trace".
@CSHOOLIGAN bullshit. Why would a Moscow led Pan-slavic union work if it failed with the Soviet Union? Putin may be a good leader for Russia because Russian people have had no experience with democracy (leaders' powers "checked") in its history, and a strong leader is necessary to control such a vast nation, but its not what other Slavic nations need, nor want. In my opinion, Moscow needs realize its not the USSR anymore, it has LOST its empire. No reason to be lording over former puppets.
I never heard of the atrocities against germans before the wars, can you tell me about them. The reason hitler invaded Pland first is because he knew if he invaded France first, Poland would automaticaly invade Germany. Its good that you dont want land back because it will never happen. I just want to know what exactly erika steinbach's organization wants to accomplish.
"By June 20 the British troops had again occupied the larger towns, while the Poles had the upper hand in the rural districts. As a result of the difficulties in paying his men and providing them with food Korfanty now lost control over his followers. Independent bands were formed which PLUNDERED THE VILLAGES, ILL-TREATED THE GERMANS, AND MURDERED MANY OF THEM [emphasis added.
Do you realy think that is the reason why Germany started WW2, because some germans got robbed? When germany invaded Poland they robbed and murdered 3 million Polish citizens and 3 million Polish Jews. Another big historical fact is that Germany and Austria were occupying Poland since 1772.
In light of the Versailles Treaty, I think Germany was concerned about losing even more land to Poland. Such insurrections were seen as a danger. Plus, I suspect the military pact between the Brit Emp and Pol was probably seen as an aggressive prelude to inevitable war.
Those lands have changed hands many times over the cents. But my point isn't about who should have the land--most Germans don't care about the issue--but only that Poles seem content in denying culpability for their acts.
I suppose it's sort of a national paranoia among Poles, to admit anything. I have to remember that every time I'm there.
As for the (alleged) 3-million Jews, I question whether ethnic Poles even regard them as Polish. The ubiquitous fashion around Warsaw centrum these days seems include black jackboots and other 'nationalistic' attire.
@LibertaerUeberAlles it wasn't a border skirmish, it was a full invasion, same as with Czechoslovakia. And Britain along with France were in a defensive alliance with Poland in case germany attacked and germany knew this perfectly well. Therefore germany set off WW2 by attacking Poland.
Of course this visit will be used by polska propaganda machine, just like they used Georgia war, which was initiated by USA.
And after that, polish crying about "justice"? Hypocrits.. That's what "democratisation" doing with countries - Ukraine president officially glorifying nazism, in Iraq million of civillians are dying, in Afghanistan drug production is rising 44 times, Georgia's military budget is rising 40 times and country bombing the whole city, in USA - 9/11, PATRIOT act, terror list
To "RussainDefender100". Wow, you guys still live in the atmosphere of WW2 and Cold War. That is more dangerous than the US State Department would think. I guess you (Russians) have been humiliated by the collapse of the Soviet (Russian) empire and by being put in ranks with China, India and Brazil. Do not worry; our new President is ready to do practically anything to appease Putin and Russian imperial dreams. The crunch will come again when Obama is out.
1) "You are living in Cold War reality" (while it is USA using puppets all over the world, USA, which attacked Russia through puppet state Georgia first time since Cold War ending, USA which STILL have Jackson-Venick amendment, using propaganda of external enemy, using absurd to image Russia in their Hollywood films). So who are really living in Cold War? Maybe USA?
2) "Russians been "humiliated" by USSR collapse" bla bla
Hi 'igorvasilevsky', re. 1. You are right about '74 Jackson- Vanik amendment. It's archaic & irrelevant. I'll also give you kudos for evaluation of American cold-war perception of Russia. The Cold War really never ended. There was a phase of a cold war thaw during the Yeltsin years. That ended with the ascension to power of an ex-KGB officer. In reality Russia is still being governed by ex-Soviet elites. Re. 2. I guess I am right. Most of Russians will never forgive Gorbachov.
Ushenko is also an ex-KGB, but it didn't stop him to be a US puppie.. failed argument, american.
But of course, fairytales about KGB is very strong in US propoganda Holywood films, so Americans much more often think about KGB even than any Russian)))
For example, I see this word "KGB" only in comments of americans. Why? Because your media still using it in fear mongering.. Dumb brainwashed american...
"their governments have nothing to say whether the MDS is installed."
So Russia can install "missile defence" in Mexico by this logic, because "their government have nothing to say ".. What a fuckin ABSURD of american idiot...
You also IGNORED the fact that this action is AGAINST opinion of majority (like NATO knocking of Ukraine is ALSO against 75% of Ukrainians)...
This is all an ANTI-democratic actions by "beacon of democracy". Incredible double standarts and HYPOCRISY..
Why bother . Poland has been heavily brainwashed by Yanks, remember how Poland was hurt when the WMD had talks of Yanks placing it in southern territory closer to the Imaginary Iranian threat
Poland was an aggressive expansionist imperialist racist country.
It started way earlier. Polish victim myth. First. Poland helped Adolf Hitler to destroy Czechoslovakia by taking Zaolzie after Hitler took the Sudetenland.
Poles killed many russian POW"s they captured in the Polish-Soviet War in polish concentration camps.
Some victims. If they treated the russians like that can"t imagine how they treated the germans in Danzig or the jews.
ss90ss444, are you a Nazi or a Commie? It appears you have a major chip on your shoulder with regard to Poland. Did the Poles kick out your grandfather from East Prussia or something? What went wrong? I would suggest some therapy and meditation. Relax, WW2 is over.
Absolutely agree. Poor land just playing role of "victims" with help of USA, which is using rewriting of WW2 history in own political interests...
Germany attacked and occupied Russia in WW2, but now we have amazing relations.
France attacked Russia in 1812, but also we have amazing relations.
Why Poland is like 3-old child, constantly crying? Why Russia don't cry about 27 millions of dead HEROES? Because we are stronger than that and only 20 years after WW2 a RUSSIAN became first in space.
The problem in Poland, which is using past (and often changing it in own interests) to create "external enemy" TODAY. Typical american tactic of brainwashing to create "enemy" outside.
And US-orchestrated Georgia war was also a such type of event - to show polish that Russia is "real enemy of weak democracies". It's amazing how brainwashing is working on a country level. I already don't talk about americans - they are useless. But Polish must have at least some brains..
charles: Actually. the total of Polish officers and intellectuals murdered by the Soviets was @ 22,000. 4,500 corpses were found at the Katyn forest while the rest were discovered at other sites.
Generally, I agree with you, but will add that I don't think the British people are to blame for the actions of the Zionist-influenced government of the British Empire. They were used as pawns just like Germans.
Also, Zionismisnazism, as for Poland, clearly Poles wanted independence from German rule in, e.g., Silesia. Maybe that was a natural desire, since ethnic Germans formed the minority and Poles formed the majority there. They had every reason to wish for a British-aided war against Germany.
As a Slavic-German person with ancestry in both Silesia and East Prussia, I'm not angry with Poles; I actually like many of them. Nor do I want Polish land back; something that Poles fear.
I merely find it strange that Poles today don't at least verbally atone for the major atrocities committed against minority ethnic German families during the pre-WW2 period -- even the pre-WW1 period!
Had Poles not committed these acts, then perhaps Hitler wouldn't have felt threatened enough to invade.
hahahahaha everybody knows czechs are the most coward nation in europe...dont make me laugh...every time anybody entered your country u put ur hands up...thats wehy prague was not destryed at all. germans...russians... u never opposed
What country has more nuclear weapons than the rest of the world combined? What is the only country that has an ABM system, able to defend against ballistic missiles? Russia.
Let's not forget the pre-WW2 situation in the annexed eastern Poland, rife with Russian led pogroms, rape and plunder. Nor should the Poles forget the extermination of over 15,000 Poles, subsequently buried in Katyn forest, and the blame ineptly foisted upon the Germans. As for the alliance alluded to between present day Germany and Russia, this is yet another fantasy.
@charlessmyth "Let's not forget the pre-WW2 situation in the annexed eastern Poland"
PRE-ww2 situation? OK, then what was BEFORE that?
Before that the world witnessed UK and France making pact with Hitler in 1938 (Munich agreement) which delivered Czechoslovakia to Hitler.
Speaking about Poland and "PRE-ww2 situation" one cannot forget that soon after Hitler invaded Czechoslovakia (with UK approval) even Poland joined Hitler and occupied northern regions of Czechoslovakia (e.g. Tesinsko)
Keep your piggy nose out of it, Proddy. It's not like the Northern Irish Paisleyite CUNTS have much to teach the world about peace, is it? ROFLMAO!!! Feck off, you fat wanking scrote.
In 2009, Poland is both a NATO and an EU member, so the stakes for Russia, are as catastrophically high, as hey were during the time of the Cuba missile crisis.
@charlessmyth "Poland is both a NATO and an EU member"
So? Kuba was also member of the block of socialist nations...
Try to deploy any rocket system in any place close to Russia and watch what happens Kuba or other places in your neighborhood (e.g. Venezuela). And try to stop Russians.
Even at the close of the Cuban missile crisis, it was not certain that all the missiles had been removed, due to the lateness of any discovery. So it's all rather moot, beyond the fact that Russia would have been obliterated, no matter what. Because of the west's advantage in the miniaturisation of nuclear devices, Russia needs to worry about what is already secreted on Russian soil, and okay to go.
@charlessmyth "Russia needs to worry about what is already secreted on Russian soil"
he he he 15 years ago I read that Russia removed its hidden nuclear devices from New York City and other major cities in the West in the early 1990ties. I have no doubt that some of them were (are?) hidden in UK also. Apparently Yanks returned with the same courtesy. Still I also have doubts that all nuclear devices "had been removed"...
"MarshallKutuzov" (good one, Ponton), the Poles and Czechs have nothing to decide. Obama already made the decision to appease Russia at any cost. You can ride your tanks through Poland and Czech Rep., or any part of Europe or Asia, any time you guys desire. Obama will just repeat the same speech of Roosevelt please do not kill too many civilians while you are at it.
@cimssiem "Obama already made the decision to appease Russia at any cost."
Not at any cost but instead at the cost of deploying Russian rockets in Kuba and/or Venezuela. And again just like in 1963 Anglo-Americans would have to withdraw their rockets (back then it was from Turkey) in order to stop deployment of Russian rockets in their backyard.
-However, Obama is more than willing to do even more should Putin ask for it.
As f***ing Gorb? Anyway your pres. have no real power to change situation greatly. Your pres. (aby of them) is just a "talking head" - he would speak not more, than he allowed to speak. If he would - remember Kennedy, Lincoln and other killed presidents.
@cimssiem "the Poles and Czechs have nothing to decide"
It is true, but not the way you imply, because absolute majority of people in both Czech Republic and Poland REJECT the idea of deployment of American weapons in their territory. But quisling governments in Poland and Czech Republic blackmailed by US imperialists disregard opinion of their own people and refuse to hold referendums on the issue. You should be more concerned about US army killing civilians in the war in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Igor707, with all due respect to the Poles and Czechs - their governments have nothing to say whether the MDS is installed. It's US technology and money that is at stake. The governments of Poland and Czech are very happy to host elements of the system on their soil just to symbolically cut off themselves from Russia and to flip Russia a finger at the same time. Personally, I think it is a naïve and a shortsighted policy that never worked for either of the countries in the past.
I will remind you, that Poland is apractically a centre of Europe. Why USA DIDN'T ask other European countries and people? Why US decision must create threat to a whole Europe without their opinion?
2) Population of this countries are AGAINST missiles. So where is famous "democracy", power of majority? In ass. This is ANTI-democratic actions.
"with all due respect to the Poles and Czechs - their governments have nothing to say whether the MDS is installed. It's US technology and money that is at stake"
???!!!???
First you say that "Poles and Czechs have nothing to decide" implying Polish and Czech PEOPLES and now you say that even their GOVERNMENTS "have nothing to say"!?! Are you joking or...?
"US technology and money that is at stake"? And what about Polish and Czech TERRITORIES and PEOPLES? US can stick its paper "money" into..

Right. Poles and germans lied that Benes and the czechs were persecuting and discriminating poles and germans in Czechoslovakia.
Because of german-polish atrocity propaganda poles got Zaolzie and germans got Sudetenland.
Czechs are the real victims and not you polish, german and russian liars and cowards.
Hope Neville Chamberlain burns in hell forever. Czechs brave people who were bullied by poles, germans, slovakians and hungarians.

As for the alliance alluded to between present day Germany and Russia, this is yet another fantasy.
charlessmyth 2 years ago
indeed.
Camps for Russian prisoners and internees in Poland that existed during 1919-1924 housed two main categories of detainees:
Between 16,000 to 20,000 of Soviet POWs - out of 80,000 to 85,000 - died in Polish camps.

Tesinsko)

But if Poland decides to house American missiles aimed at Russia, they can expect a friendly visit from the Russian Air Force.
MarshallKutuzov 2 years ago
That's highly unlikely.

that is as much (un)likely as Anglo-Americans were determined to stop deployment of Russian rockets in Kuba.

In 2009, Poland is both a NATO and an EU member, so the stakes for Russia, are as catastrophically high, as hey were during the time of the Cuba missile crisis.
charlessmyth 2 years ago
@charlessmyth "Poland is both a NATO and an EU member"
So? Kuba was also member of the block of socialist nations...
Try to deploy any rocket system in any place close to Russia and watch what happens Kuba or other places in your neighborhood (e.g. Venezuela). And try to stop Russians.
Igor707 2 years ago

I see you forgot that crisis was a prolongation of turkish missile crisis. What a short memory!

Childish comment from 45 year old man.
Do you consider man in the Kremlin to be utterly idiot or you've never heard of 5th article of the NATO?

Igor707 2 years ago
Igor707, I fully agree with your comment regarding missile deployment. However, Obama is more than willing to do even more should Putin ask for it.

Personally, I think it is a naïve and a shortsighted policy that never worked for either of the countries in the past.
cimssiem 2 years ago
1) "their governments have nothing to say"
I will remind you, that Poland is apractically a centre of Europe. Why USA DIDN'T ask other European countries and people? Why US decision must create threat to a whole Europe without their opinion?
2) Population of this countries are AGAINST missiles. So where is famous "democracy", power of majority? In ass. This is ANTI-democratic actions.
3) "cut from Russia"? Another dumb american..
What next absurd you will write, moron?

"US technology and money that is at stake"? And what about Polish and Czech TERRITORIES and PEOPLES? US can stick its paper "money" into..
