I think Putin is a very good leader for the Slavic people. I am very happy that he is in Poland for the ww2 aniversary. The Polish leadership should realize that the best thing for Poland is a good relationship with Russia and the other Slavic countries. Putin and other Slavic leaders should focus on establishing a Pan-Slavic Union, a union like this would be the strogest militarily and economicaly. The bad thing is Polish leaders are anti-Poland foregin agents in my opinion.

CSHOOLIGAN: The Russian leadership needs to realize that if it wants a good relationship with Poland it needs to apologize for the invasion of Poland on September 17, 1939, they need to apologize for the Katyn murders, they need to apologize for the deporatation of a million and a half of Polish civilians to Siberia, they need to apologize for the 45 years of occupation of Poland after WWII. Only then can the relationship get better. The ball is in the Russian's court, so to speak.

We all know that many bad things happened during those times to everyone. Polish people were sent to siberia and so did millions of Russians and others. All those things were done equaly to everyone, not even people close to Stalin were safe, Molotovs wife was sent to the gulags. The Polish partisans were about to route the Germans in the city, but the Russians who were already at the gates, withheld their advance because the partisans were non-communists. As a result, the Germans were able to send reinforcements and crushed the uprising killing 20,000 partisans!

There was no invasion in this day. Poland's gov-t and military commandment was outside of the country (it means that there was no more Poland as a state) and ordered to polish troops to do no resistance to Red army. Putin may be a good leader for Russia because Russian people have had no experience with democracy (leaders' powers "checked") in its history, and a strong leader is necessary to control such a vast nation, but its not what other Slavic nations need, nor want. In my opinion, Moscow needs realize its not the USSR anymore, it has LOST its empire. No reason to be lording over former puppets.

In light of the Versailles Treaty, I think Germany was concerned about losing even more land to Poland. Such insurrections were seen as a danger. Plus, I suspect the military pact between the Brit Emp and Pol was probably seen as an aggressive prelude to inevitable war.

Those lands have changed hands many times over the cents. But my point isn't about who should have the land--most Germans don't care about the issue--but only that Poles seem content in denying culpability for their acts.

It is true, but not the way you imply, because absolute majority of people in both Czech Republic and Poland REJECT the idea of deployment of American weapons in their territory.
