  • Fire the snowplow guy

  • What exactly is your box assignment? It seems small. In my area the initial assignment on a box alarm is 4 engines, 2 trucks, rescue squad, and the battalion chief. Thats on residential structure fires. Our commercial building assignment is a bit bigger.

  • @fire73rescue That particular house assignment was our Company / 1st Due, Station 24's Truck and Engine, Tanker 36, Engine Tanker 19, Tanker 20, Engine Rescue 20, EMS unit and a transfer Engine Company. An additional alarm was requested prior to the first engine's arrival. That brought Engine Rescue 19, Engine Rescue 23, Tanker 33, Tanker 18 and another Transfer Engine Company. Our station also responded an additional Engine and Squad.

The real problem was the remote location of the house.

  • I'd hate to be the guy who has to back down that road...

  • ok why not lay 3 inch, make that your hydrant, then put a 1 3/4 splliter on the end making you have more acess to two lines and have another jiffey line puled up.

  • @birddog789 We deployed a leader line with a gated wye for two separate lines. Plus we also deployed a 250' 1 3/4 attack line to put an initial knock on the fire in the basement. We then used the leader line with two high rise packs to extend further into the house and to the next floor.

  • the electronic siren that you asked about is the POWERCALL ALONG WITH THE Q AND AIR HORNS 6 STARS AND ADDED TO FAVORITES

  • how long did it take to back the trucks down the road

  • @67keefer Awhile. I will leave it at that! lol

  • @irons22man yeah understand had the same problem about a year ago but it was mud had to get a wrecker for 1 of them

  • @Anizzle15 Cool, glad you made it two years. I forgot I posted this, so long ago. Haha. But anyway, Glad everything worked out with school and such. By curiousity, what is a private? Is that another way to say senior firefighter?

  • This is called using KY windage!

  • why didnt you guys pulled tht first engine up a little more instead of having to carry everything so far and wear the guys out before they even battle the blaze? great vid none the less

  • @JTFD81 Due to the road conditions with being so steep, narrow, and sow covered the engine lost traction. That position was taken not be choice. So we dealt with it the best we could. I would have loved to got up closer to the house. Our second engine got stuck approximately 400' behind the first engine and couldn't go any further up that hill. Hope that answers your question.

  • @irons22man it does. i wasnt sure why u guys did tht at first now i do lol. its happened to us once before. but we were having to stretch our hoses all the way and we didnt have nothing but tanker water cause all the hydrants were froze.

  • what was that loader they were talking about?

  • @starsairsoft101 Right next to the driveway entrance was a coal yard. The owner of the coal yard brought a front end loader over to the driveway and scraped the driveway with the bucket to make it easier for apparatus to get up.

  • what kind of electric siren is this, just looking for the manufacturer...

not the Q siren, but the elongated electric yelp running the whole ride?

  • @towboss1971 That is a powercall siren. Just do a search for Powercall sirens. You should have no trouble finding them.

  • To the one who said these people are lazy, most definitely not. I can tell you from my own eyewitness that Potomac and the mutual aid departments don't get the credit they deserve. I know for a fact more often then not their response times are as good, if not better than alot of paid departments. I used to live in Westernport, I have been gone a number of years now, but I do visit, and I do have family there. So please, before u make an ignorant comment, THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK.

  • @jbradley26847 Thanks for the comment.

  • Sorry to keep on postin somethings wrong with my computer

  • well it's not a firehouse website its a dept website i thought you were being to harsh to annazell 15 most jr jakes will give an opion about the fireservice and wrong or right there just jr jakes as my dad says its a lot diffrent on the outside looking in I know plenty of jakes who were former vollies and stll do it my dept website is city of salem fire local 172 if ya have trouble type in salem mass fire dept on google you will find it

  • At ironman 22 I got nothin against vollies but let's face it your a vollie and should not be givin advice. I'm on a full time city dept in Salem Massachusetts city miliage 8.1 square miles local 172 we have a website look it up if you get on a full time department wherever it may be and I'm sure you will as the old timers say keep your mouth closed and speak when spoken too good luck

  • @kaseybaby1 are you trying to say that because someone volunteers their time to do this job, they should not offer advice? You never know, where volunteers work. We have several firefighters/vollies, that are also career firefighters. What is the website for you career house, and I will look it up?

  • At anizell 15 I'm glad to see that you want too stay in school and gradute you will make one hell of a Jake don't worry just do your best with that kind of commitment, the fire department will be a piece of cake for you good luck jeremy

  • Ah Andy your incorrect a a probie has a year to prove himself buy doing tasks such as cleaning cooking ect. Then when your year is up and you have proven yourself then your part of the brotherhood not three years you are a explorer and have a lot to learn if ya want to get on the job so a hint from the old timers keep your mouth shut and speak when spoken too have a good day

  • Unless you have more then 3 yrs into the service Annizle, your still a rookie. Once you pass abouyt 5 yrs into service, then you may make accusations. Cause then you may know what the hell your talking about ...

    Junior Firefighter,

    -Andy

  • @Andyman1130 Actually ive been on for two years. im pretty sure i know a little bit about firefighting. ive done more training then some of the privates on our department, and now being 18 im soon to be a private.

  • strong work i'm sure there was some extra effort needed with the crappy roads. as far as i can tell everyone went home so a gain strong work and safe driving is always a good fire in my book

  • @Tsunamikiller88 Yes there were some hurdles to jump over on this job. But we did what we had to do with what we were dealt. It all came out in the end. Thanks for the comment.

  • ive been suspended for almost a year due to bad grades. i have problems with my school work and stuff. i struggle and get bad grades, but i got into a different school program thats gonna make it a little easier to earn my diploma so i can move on into college so i can be a career firefighter/paramedic.

  • not gonna lie. you did a good job. i want there, so i wouldnt know how the whole operation went. i didnt mean to put the company down. just stating my opinion

  • Amen to that brother, and thanks for the comment! I know that the members appreciate the kind words. We do are best over here!

  • actually i have been on first due. i have been to 3 forestry fires, 2 vehicle fires, 13 car accidents, and 2 structure fires. i think i know what is going on. i have been on the department since march 3rd of 2008 and im one of the most dedicated people on the department, which is pretty damn good for a junior

  • Anizzle15, this is just my observation! I know that everyone has there opinions of these types of situations. I think that everyone that views your post here, will say that if you can count the individual number of calls that you have been on, you have not had enough experience in the fire service yet! When you get more experience under your belt, you just don't need to put other companies down. Just think about what you are going to say/type before you do it! Just some advice!

  • If you have been on the department for 2 years and that's all you've ran on then either you are not a full time, or your not a fire fighter at all. My station makes those kind of numbers within a week.

  • @Anizzle15 ok for starters...you are a jr firefighter...that means you learn. you dont have enough experience to wash the fire truck much less critique an incident, especially a complex incident when you have to drop short and stretch lines

  • great job

  • As said before, Many negative comments. Obviously none of them understand firefighting. Your guys did a fantastic job. And as any of us know who fight fires, when everyone comes home and all the equipment is safely back at the station, it was a job well done.

  • Thanks for the comment brother!

  • There are a lot of negative comments here but I though it looked like a bang up job. Why run the truck off the drive way? Thats why we carry all that hose up in the bed, it goes where the engine can't. As far as hustle, looked good to me, why be huffing and puffing by the time you go on air, now the first crew has reduced bottle time, I'd be happy if my guys performed like that.

  • Thanks for the comment, someone finally understands! The camera angle does not always tell the real story when it comes to angles and steepness of the ground. The crew did a very good job in my opinion.

  • these guys look kinda lazy. i work for a volunteer department as a junior firefighter, i would have been haulin ass up that little hill with that 1 3/4 line. the structure wasnt fully involved. nice attack though, and that guy in the blue jacket is an idiot. it only takes 3 breaths of black smoke to turn your lungs into plastic. any arguments? message me

  • Well, I know my guys are not lazy. They did their jobs and put the fire out! The house is still standing and is able to be repaired with some work. The little hill that you are talking about, is a lot more of a steep hill that how it looks on the camera. The ground was very slippery with that snow cover. I don't agree with someone going into the building without PPE on.

  • i know how much fire boots suck in the snow, but really? they werent even making a fast attempt to get up that hill quickly.

  • Your comment shows how misinformed and new you are, you should wait until you are past probational status before making any accusations. Your lack of experience is very apparent. If you hurt yourself getting to the fire what good are you?

  • Yeah you are a junior firefighter, not a firefighter. I take it you haven't been on the first due before?

  • Who is the idiot in the blue jacket that sticks his nose in the hot zone just as you guys were making enter to the structure.

    Nice video. Hard attack.

  • why did you park the first truck so far from the main side looked like it took to long to make an interior attack but mabey its the video lag time. looked like it was a fun fun when an interior attack was made. be safe have fun

  • Due to the slippery road conditions and the steepness of the hill, the engine started sliding off of the narrow roadway. So we stopped where we did and used the long cross lay attack line and a leader line to get to the fire.

  • ohh cause at that one part the smoke was just pouring out...i was like man..

  • Well that was an above ground basement. The boys said it was a little hot. LOL

  • how did you vent this

  • Well we did not get vertical ventilation until we were well into the fire. but eventually we got enough manpower on the scene to finally do that job. I want that task completed long before we did it but we only had a few people there for a while.

  • OMG long driveway. Crazy in the snow.

  • do you guy have any Semi truck drives on you dept???

  • a few.

  • nice powercall! also nice video!
