Okay, I know this seems cold, but the reason why these animals mean so much more to us is because of what they have done for humans. Just google the amazing things that these creatures have done for us. We don't need dolphins to die, which is why we are so much more horrified when they do, but as for hens, fishes...they are a source of protein that we couldn't live without. It's a sad fact, and it makes me sad to say it myself. It's just the way the food chain was formed.

Sea Shepherd did that once, and those guys got arrested.....not that cutting the nets isn't totally worth it...........but it probably won't solve this problem. But sonar devices which scare the dolphins away from this area is a good idea, that's what sea shepherds using in the faroes.
Japan's pretty known for the way they treat dolphins, it's one of the things that make me disappointed in them. They may have good anime and tech, but that doesn't mean you can treat dolphins like that =___=;;
Those must be bottlenose dolphins, its a cultural thing is Japan, Thailand or really any asian countries to use shark/ dolphin fins in soup, medicines etc. Its stupid to leave them for a day though and then harvest, they should kill them as quick possible to really get what they came for while its in great condition. Bottlenose are not endangered but if they just want fins they might as well make a dolphin farm and breed some there. Im more worried about sharks.

It is cruel, no slaughter house would talk more then a day to kill an animal. Also dolphins save human lives, and have never killed a human in the wild unless the human attacked it. Over centuries there are thousands of stories of dolphins saving humans, that's why the Greeks(one of the smartest civilizations to exist) protected them as equals, and if you killed one you would be a murderer and die. Also dolphin meat is poisonous and these people feed it to children.
Those documented cases are all pent up young males whom are not allowed to mate and are suffering from mental frustration that they can't do what they should be able to, then they do go nuts, they see a woman as a potential mate(pretty impressive that they can distinguish guys and galls through clothes) and if you see how they try and court it's the same. And so far no women rapped, at best you could call it sexual harassment by dolphin in captivity.

Dolphins have been measured at the intelligence of a 3-5 year old child-exceeding most apes. These animals are highly social, and very intelligent. One science report calls them "non-human" persons (look it up). If it is not wrong to kill something that is this intelligent, than what parallels can we draw from that???

And if there's high mercury content in these animals then every other sea creature must have high mercury levels in them, too. Because everything eats everything else in the sea.
We better stop using those new light bulbs because they're loaded with mercury and harmful gases, too.

@fmscribs The difference between animals and humans killing, is that animals kill quick, a quick cut to the neck and it is over. Humans use animals from birth to death & make them suffer their whole lives, ie farm animals. Their deaths are long painful and filled with ongoing terror, ie it can take a pig up to 20 minutes to kill in an abattoir, & it spent its whole life in a horror factory. Dolphins r rounded up & they are with all their families, screaming out. This is no quick kill. Evil it is

Ya know, it would be a whole lot easier to support animal rights if these people seemed to have any sort of perspective over the causes they are supporting. I hardly think a few hundred dolphins killed in a tiny fishing village in rural Japan is worth your time with millions of animals are raised in completely inhuman conditions and slaughtered in terrible ways in our own countries. It is really sad to me that just because you find these animals to be cute you care so much, but screw pigs...

But to utilize animals as resource is not bad at all. Dolphins are resources like other animals and fish. Animals and fish are not human beings but they are resources for us.
I do hope that fishermen can find a better way to treat dolphins but they are doing this for living. Not for fun.

Okay, I know this seems cold, but the reason why these animals mean so much more to us is because of what they have done for humans. Just google the amazing things that these creatures have done for us. We don't need dolphins to die, which is why we are so much more horrified when they do, but as for hens, fishes...they are a source of protein that we couldn't live without. It's a sad fact, and it makes me sad to say it myself. It's just the way the food chain was formed.

Those must be bottlenose dolphins, its a cultural thing is Japan, Thailand or really any asian countries to use shark/ dolphin fins in soup, medicines etc. Its stupid to leave them for a day though and then harvest, they should kill them as quick possible to really get what they came for while its in great condition. Bottlenose are not endangered but if they just want fins they might as well make a dolphin farm and breed some there. Im more worried about sharks.

One footnote, dolphins do not leave their wound or injured companions. So Japanese fishermen will deliberately cut and bleed some dolphins so that the remaining school will not leave.

It is cruel, no slaughter house would talk more then a day to kill an animal. Also dolphins save human lives, and have never killed a human in the wild unless the human attacked it. Over centuries there are thousands of stories of dolphins saving humans, that's why the Greeks(one of the smartest civilizations to exist) protected them as equals, and if you killed one you would be a murderer and die. Also dolphin meat is poisonous and these people feed it to children.

Those documented cases are all pent up young males whom are not allowed to mate and are suffering from mental frustration that they can't do what they should be able to, then they do go nuts, they see a woman as a potential mate(pretty impressive that they can distinguish guys and galls through clothes) and if you see how they try and court it's the same. And so far no women rapped, at best you could call it sexual harassment by dolphin in captivity.

@alaswoeisme No it's not okay in my opinion. But there are differences. One, the dolphins are often threatened species, but even more important is their intelligence. Dolphins have been measured at the intelligence of a 3-5 year old child-exceeding most apes. These animals are highly social, and very intelligent. One science report calls them "non-human" persons (look it up). If it is not wrong to kill something that is this intelligent, than what parallels can we draw from that???
