  • Well done. Explained well. Thanks for the knowledge

  • snares kill animals in like instantly

  • we meet again 240p.

  • Great video, but the description bothers me. Say I own a piece of land that's invested with rabbits/squirrels that are tearing it apart with all their digging and burrowing into trees. Is it not legal for me to set some of these up to try and catch some for population control? No. Why should I bother to go out and shoot some when I can just set up some small game traps to make it easier? And like you said, Even if I did catch some it's likely to still be alive, allowing me to free it.

  • Well Mate-take it from someone who's been searching through heaps of footage tonight on how to do this......You've made it very user friendly. I understood everything immediately and would give it a go if I thought I might catch an animal interesting enough to eat here. I am looking for a cheap and efficient way to catch and kill magpie geese.....and I've never caught or killled anything in my life. if the bird trap thingy doesn't work I might give this a go......

  • yo thanks for the info man! this saved my butt last winter while hunting. if you do it right this snare really can work on all sorts os animals. i used a bigger loop and it caught a big fox trying to get into my camp! i just used some slightly thicker wire.

  • your survival videos are awesome

  • 12 inches is not long enought

  • bad quality

  • I just use a rope and it rocks

  • 7 & 1/2 minutes to tie a slip knot and tie the other end to a tree

  • Thumbs up just for you spending time with your son. Wish my dad did this stuff with me.

  • ur kid looks like a fag

  • @pitbull584 ur a fag for saying tht

  • @pitbull584 Sad, your ego is probably less than the kid in the video.

  • @ryanjcus you fuckin wish he was

  • A pretty good snare for not having a trigger mechanism. Your video was clear and easy to see. We look forward to seeing more snares of sorts.

    Much appreciated

  • horny badger

  • i tried to cattch a coon but the rope was to thick

  • did u just wrap the paracord around the log multiple times, or were there knots involved

  • 0:29 Thant dog scared the shit outta me lol

  • It's not a natural funnel if if you made it.

  • i tried this snare setup and caught a coon on accident .... But he tasted pretty good

  • no shit it will still be alive a proper snare is meant to be quick and break the neck not anchor it to a fucking log until it starves wtf i mean onestly have some humanity haha jk the trap will still work just wont get props from many animal rights activists haha good vid

  • If you want to see a real survival expert instead of Bear watch survivorman with Les Stroud .Far more realistic.

  • i use snares and live traps for rabbit control in my back yard but the problem that keeps happening is the rabbit either bites through the wire or the electric fence wire that i use for string... any tips?

  • good idea cept the paracord. eventually its guna eat thru

  • @jarhiker You check these traps twice daily... I doubt the 550 cord will decay in that amount of time.

  • well what i did was i couldnt find bait appropriate for the game i wanted to hunt so i covered a long length with high branches and made a little mountain on top of the snare soit would step in the little mountain and get trapped

  • Thank you for the instructional vid. I have only 2 questions... have you employed this type of trap and how successful was it?

  • good video, KISS keep it simple stupid, your video was very helpful, keep sending more videos on survival skills thanks

  • fuck Terminix

  • when you started i thought that dog was a wolf or something

  • @theeggroles He used to be

  • Man your lucky to have a nephew who loves the wilderness! My nephew only wants to play electronic games indoors.

  • do little brothers count as small game????

  • @RyNoIzALL hell yea i dug a hole about 5ft deep and 3ft wide and he fell through LMAO!!!!

  • @RyNoIzALL no thats sooo mean!!! why wud u doo tht???

  • nice

  • bear grylls sleeps in a motel at night and has a team of thirty people if he screws up

marine recon all the way oorah

  • @sgphoenixdude Man Vs. Wild is first and foremost a television program. Having said that, no mainstream TV channel is going to allow their personnel to be in an uncontrolably perilous situation. He is there to demonstrate what to do if you are in a bad scenario, not to prove his balls and stupidity. If he can make his point and demonstrate what he has to say w/o dying...isn't that all the info one needs as opposed to needing him to stay outdoors all week?

  • @sgphoenixdude So many people cry about him staying in a hotel, who cares? Number 1, it's entertainment, nd if you don't think so, don't watch. His tips and tricks are valid and he demonstrates a lot of them by eating and drinking disgusting things as well as jumping into frozen water...wow what a phony he is...That's like calling a survival book author a phony bc they aren't stuck in seclusion while they write their book, he's been there and done that in the military, get a life, stop hating.

  • @sgphoenixdude It's a TV show. He's not really surviving in the wild, it's a guide. Still, if he was left alone he would do better than any of us. Even he is not really surviving in the TV show (as a rational person would think), he has the knowledge.

  • @sebastian6736 He does things on his show that no one would really do in a survival situation. (jumping off cliffs, etc.) If a person had his skills he could live comfortably for a long time with just a knife.

  • Thanks for the tip. Great tut.

    Also, NutnFancy is shit.

  • great !

For squirrel snares you want to put them either on a tree branch or on a limb leaning on a tree as they dont spend much time on the ground unless running to another tree. Thanks for the video

  • thx, thats made my knowlage much better :-)

  • so how big in diameter should the length be???

  • lol at the start I thought your friend was a monkey xD

  • i plan to use this :)

  • very good thumbs up

  • An excellent demonstration

  • nice vid! i plan on using this to catch rabits, they make great bait for coyotes!

  • great vid man!

  • thanks for the videos bro. Im learning a lot from them

  • i caught bear grylls with this snare! A+ lol

  • Good vid.....what guage wire is recommended for this application????? Brass, stainless.......??? Thanks !

  • nice survival skill you showed there man.i bet one day, they(those with nasty comments)gonna need that skills.

  • how big should the diameter be if I'm trying to catch a dinosaur?

  • @madmicah2 make it big enough to go over your mom's butt.

  • thanks for the vid man

  • aghh i want to make one and put your nephew in it until he dies

  • @akilby07 what the heck is wrong with you!?

  • gay

  • amazing no one had a retarded comment about the baiting with nuts or a big stick

  • Good luck! re re

  • bear grylls owns your trap anytime

  • @waferjuice Bear Grylls is a Phoney! LMAO!

  • @ryanjcus I used to think he was real until I saw an episode where he escape on an airfield on a desert island and jumped on a plane that just HAPPENED to be taking off at the exact moment

  • @ryanjcus lol, thick american...

  • @ryanjcus

Not necessarily. At the beginning of each episode (and sometimes in between), they tell you that situations are provided to Bear in order to educate. Besides, that wouldn't even remotely make Bear a phony, but rather the show itself. Not once does Bear claim otherwise.

I find it ridiculous that people try to pin Bear as a phony (whom is merely a host), when EVERY EPISODE it gives you the guidelines of the show...why can't these people read what's right in front of them.

  • @ryanjcus how?

  • @ryanjcus bear grylls has catered lunches and sleeps in hotels during his ''survival'! ya hes def a phoney! les stroud.... was alot more real!

  • @ryanjcus Oh, he is for real .....till they say CUT....lol gotta love TV.......

  • @ryanjcus TOTALLY! Climbing Everest at 23, Chief Scout at 35, hiking the Himalayan mountains of Sikkim and West Bengal, Assam is a piece of CAKE! Being part of the UK Special Forces or SAS Regiment is rubbish, I mean...COMMON! I did that 3 times this week. Leading a team of four to climb one of the most remote unclimbed peaks in the world in Antarctica to raise funds for Global Angels kids charity and awareness. TOTAL Phoney!!!

  • @ryanjcus bear grills is hotttt!!

  • @ryanjcus Bear Grylls is SAS, that being said it is a show and they tell him many of the things he should do.

  • @waferjuice HAHAHA bear grylls is an excellent outdoorsman when he's "stranded" in the wild, with nothing but his camera crew, supply truck, steady supply of food, shelter, water, and anything else that he may want or ask for.......what a survivor

  • @waferjuice bear grylls suck and is a major phake his camera man feeds him with a freakin spoon

  • @waferjuice and i bet you couldnt

  • BIG STICK :)

  • GOOD TIP BRA!!!

  • you said rabbits and squirrles, your not going to snare a quirel on the ground, they hate being there, make one in the tree

  • How many animals have you caught personally with this snare? it'd be very useful thanks

  • great job good info thanks

  • I like your snare trap and i have a 22 caliber rodent trap( prototype) for you to look at and leave a comment if you will, thanks.

  • Awesome thnx

  • I've seen them set up above a log so the animal falls off and hangs itself.

  • When it comes to survival, small games become BIG games.

  • German Sheperds are amazing dogs

  • if tired and set in a perticular way the small game tends to breack its neck but i agree u should check and take it down after use as i once accidentily caught a fox and with out a gun it got interesting when it came to dealing with him XD

  • if tired and set in a perticular way the small game tends to breack its neck

  • i find it better to use spring snares because it makes it harder for the animal to escape. With these basic snares i have found that animals have chewed their legs off to escape or other animals have gotten to it before i have. Thats why spring snares better imo. Animals are off ground so cant get away or be taken by other animals.

  • u should shove that dog up ur ass

  • You put a great deal of effort and time into this. Thank you very much. You did a great job!

  • ok, what kind of spider is that at the end of the vid? And can we snare em'?

  • Germanshepard... cool!

  • fast hes trapped now! crush hes skull on a rock!

  • I live in Az and I was wondering what would be a good trap to catch illegals? LMAO!!

  • @tucsonpersonified ha ha use tacos as bait though!

  • well this video is good, im surprised, the teaching is clear straight forward simple and well taught !

  • sweet vid thanks for the meat...

  • Hey, Ryan. Stupid comment - Amen. I wonder if 1997 was the year of this person's birth, in which case there may be a case for the defense. It's a shame that youtube manages to attract inadequates and morons who spoil it for us relatively normal crazies. Anyway, good clip. Oh, and I've just taken your advice and got some American 550 paracord. Fortunately we can get the real McCoy here in Limeyland. Ta. Your advice is appreciated.

  • very good trap i shall practise :) im glas you and your nephew like the outdoors unlike others you would rather shoot a dear on an xbox

  • snare the kid!!!!

  • Great video mate. I'm definitely going to try this out tomorrow. Cheers.

  • is shadow a hunting dog. and don't call me stupid for asking.

By the way love the vids.

  • thanks for the video!

  • dont no if it whould work but if u used some sharp cord it may rub on the animals neck enogh to kill it

  • whats good my dude? thx for all the vids. wondering what type of snare wire would be the best for small game..

  • good one thanx

  • peanut butter works really good i made a trap put peanut butter on it and a squireel came in less than 20 minuites

  • i like your video, exspecially how you explain allthing, but in my opinion, the trap could maybe be other triggered, for example with tree which pulls up the noose or something else :)

    all in all its good!!!

  • Thanks Mate,

  • cuz everyone carries a lighter in a SURVIVAL situation. lol good video anyway

  • I'm a city boy but as you may know things are changing... NWO is comin'. Thanks for this valuable knowledge. :)

  • Great video. Thanks...

  • Thin guitar strings make excellent snare wire.

  • your hand makes a horrible rabbit.. make it try harder!

  • good vid going to try it on muskrat

  • Comment removed

  • oh my fuckin god hes got one of them voives that annoy me and u want to punch

  • Good Video!

Anyone know if I could look for a squirrel nest near the autumn, and plant a few snares around the base of the tree? I'm talking early autumn, right when he's gonna go out looking for food for the winter-or would I just have a better chance near a water source?

  • next time don't take your dog it's smell alone most likely scared away any game you had a chance at

  • thanks for the info, I been hunting for 50 yrs but never used a snare. Thanks again

  • it's alot easyer to spot good tracks in winter because rabbits will beat a path down through the snow

  • i've learned this tech from a best of the best instructor of Special force... who taught you ?

  • This is probablly one of the most stupid comments I've ever read. Congrats! You get the award.

  • He won a award, at least he won something in his life haha. I think it will be good for the guys self-esteem don't you think ryan? Nice vid!! Regards

  • @superdeath1997

How come you are so stupid? have you asked your mom why you were this way all ya life? LOl

  • That would be classic if he came back and had snared the dog!!! I love it!!!

  • @luckylarudy thanks

  • stupid dog lol nice vid

  • Does it matter exactly what type of wire you use?

  • got

  • good tips i cot my first rabbit today

  • just a tip. for rabbits the easyest way to kill them with no equipment is to grab both front paws in one hand and the hind legs in the other hand then put your hands together and pull them apart rapidly. it breaks the spine giving instant painless and mess free death..... better than the rock idea witch could be painfull slow and messy.

  • great info and beautiful GSD is he yours or the camera man's?

  • Thanks But I am The camera man LOL.

  • Good explanation - very clear and thorough - thanks!

  • very informative, nice onne

  • wive this trap ive caught 10 squrrils and 2 rabbits

  • pretty good vid, i trap in my spare time and this explained it pretty good for me

  • ever cought something with a snare or trap?

  • Comment removed

  • That's all well and good, but you might not have snare wire, paracord, and a lighter with you in a survival situation. It'd be cool if you could explain how to make something useful out of natural materials only, or maybe only include things you might have on you, such as a shoelace.

  • nice one

  • shallow tree roots i use wen im out

  • There are many ways to create or acquire strong, resilient cordage in the wilderness. I think it'd be cool if you did a video (or if you already have one) on different types of natural cordage or something like that.

  • Good stuff man thanks!

  • i preffer the tree spring noose ir usual will choke the animal to death or break its neck. deadfalls also work if your working around cyotees like awsome shot

  • Cyotees? Really? Why do people insist on ignoring spell check?

  • nice trap! 5/5 no doubt

  • a suggestion in your demonstration. dont wrap so much PC around your anchor. If its good 550 cord then one loop with a solid double hitch knot would be fine for small game. Also if you don't have wire a 10" section of the cord can be cut off and just use one of the inner strands they have 50 ft ib test, and would make a good snare line. Personally I use figure 4 deadfalls... and that also means the game will be dead when you get too it and protected under a rock from coyotes!

  • Thanks for the suggestion but the reason I wrapped it is so I do not have to cut the cord into a bunch of small pieces. I can then use it again for a larger task. There is no harm done by wrapping it. It wont make it any more or less effective. Fishing line makes a good snare too. The figure 4 deadfall is indeed a very effective trap. Thanks

  • your awesome

  • Very cool man, thanks!

  • but what stops the snare from lossening and the animal escaping?

  • the animal will probably twist it's self around in the cord even if it just pulls the noose straight out the tension from the animal will keep the wire around it.

  • Looks nice, will try.

  • Good vid, just a idea though you should put sticks kind of around the snare so the elements can't move it in anyway and it will always be facing the game.

  • Also id like to say that anamals know when a forest is on fire and when it has been on fire in the past if you smoke your snare area you can mask your scent take tender and use smoke to mask your scent.

    this video rocks!

  • Not bad. Stuff everyone should know.

  • i will post a vid of what i catch with it...

  • Check the grass/leaves/sticks if they're pushed to the side or in a certain direction, animals have a certain routine they will follow.

  • Good video subject but poor quality , a perfect reason to have para cord, wire and fishing line in your survival kit. I always have some of that stuff.

  • you can also cut out one of the seven strands and use it as a thread to repair your tent, sleeping bag, or ruck sack.

  • Greatï
