  • I was so waiting to slam you guys if you didn't mention enter the dragon because the riot scene at the end where Bruce Lee uppercuts a white shirt for sucker punching him is the best one hitter quitter in a movie.

  • @BiggTRexx Its called Sockbaby. Go to Westhavenbrook's channel. Its a series of four shorts. The first 3 were made back in 2003 and was the thing that made Erik Beck want to interview us for BFX back in 2007.

  • cute;)

  • Where do you get good SFX!?!?!?

  • Counting has been done forever in Kung Fu movies. Back in the 70's the kung fu seemed to be more sharp and land on a count as opposed to fluidity. Crouching Tiger has some of the best fighting...good call on Fist of Legend..Once upon a time in china series, Super Cop, Drunken Master, and a highly recommend Chocolate to see how not to film fight scenes. My gosh..it's insane, filmed in Thailand ..the outtakes at the end show it all.

  • 6:29 just watch John's face!

  • Thank's that's really good !

But i have one question : Where can I get sounds ? I mean that sort of sound you used in the editing :)

    Thank's a lot !

  • how to LIGHT a fight scene? THAT'S what im talking about. Also Fist of Legend and Unleashed had some sick choreography. Very hard to make it look that smooth and badass at the same time.

  • this is wonderful guys! i am learning about fight scenes and this is something I want to do for the rest of my life. in film school for it. do you guys make appearances on the east coast?

  • whoever disliked that is an isiot

  • @AllStarOComedy It's a type of badger, or small rodent.

  • old boy´s fight scenes are the best in the history of cinema, in my opinion

  • @heavytransit agreed

  • A good tip for when you're pulling punches is to have your hand open a little so when you hit the stomach your fingers don't hit the stomach solidly, even though you aren't hitting hard anyway. Hope everyone can understand what I'm saying

  • hmmm... I better say sorry to my friend for the shooting. XD

  • No list of movies with great fight scenes is ever finished without JACKIE CHAN!

  • Beck gives you the Director's Project and you call him out for a lame kick?! OUCH. There's gratitude for ya! LOL

  • Dude in the red... please get a girl to style your hair...please

  • I love you guys!!! Not only helpful, but very entertaining!!! Would love to hang with you guys some day! Rebecca

  • trollface 2:33 ;)

  • This is great guys! I don't know if you'd want to make a whole video about it, but you should touch base on sound design for fight scenes. I messaged with John once and he told me about recording your own audio like by hitting things like leather jackets and what not with different objects (bats, fists, etc.) Very useful information that should be shared!! Great stuff, guys, I'm very interested in following this director's project.

    Huge fight scene fan :)

  • Very helpful, thanks :D

  • you guys sound like Elvis :D

  • Fat Shane Dawson?

  • Haha Redlettermedias review of phantom menace! Well that's classic ass kicking movie.

  • That was a great tutorial guys!

  • How about filming a fight scene with a DSLR camera? Also what would be a good way to approach someone who is good with fight choreography because im pretty sure it would be hard to do a good one without a person who doesn't have martial arts background?

  • For some odd reason, John reminds me of Seth McFarlane, heh.

  • The fighter (not the fat guy with extremly ugly hair) looks a little bit like an american version of michael bully herbig :D

  • @468chuckles Damn lol you took my post...but yeah how could that not get mentioned?

  • thumbs up if Indy Mogul sent u! :)

  • Ip Man!!!!! Ip Man was the most amazing action movie ever... i suggest looking up Ip Man 10 vs 1 scene, that will prove my point....

  • Great tutorial guys it helps, anyone know where to get good sound effects like the exmpale they showed though? All the ones I find are cheesy

  • awesome blossom extra awesome

  • twelve maybe I'll be thirteen

  • PHANTOM MENACE REVIEW!!!!!!!!!

  • Also the guy with the slicked hair back is like a young Jack Nicholson. :D

  • how do you do the pulling you punches cause its and idea i don't completely understand

  • @guyinsuit1 It takes practice. You are basically stopping your own kick or punch before it makes full force contact with the target. The trick is making it look like you are still hitting hard. Its kind of tricky. Be very careful.

  • @guyinsuit1 You're supposed to still hit the "opponent", but you need to "brake" the punch before it hits, so that I won't do any damage, and so that it won't be painful :)

  • @guyinsuit1

    What I do is:

1.) I use all my force

2.) Right before I make contact, I release all my force, or send it somewhere else, like to my other hand (which tenses).

Also note, this takes a lot of practice and control over your muscles and strength.

  • @guyinsuit1 Best way to do this "stopping motion" is to snap the punch back when you almost make contact that way. You touch them with the on going momentum and you snap back making it very difficult to land a hard hit. This also helps with the illusion that comes with hitting hard back when you snap back your muscles will be tensed and it should look like you tried harder than you really did.

  • @bubblejuiceman Actually I prefer another method. With it you use the rest of your body to sell the hard hit but never actually put the force into the punch. In this way you can leave the striking part in contact with the target longer and it gives more of an illusion of force. I never felt like snapping the part back made it look like a hard hit. If the fist for example is 8" in front of the target when it stops how hard could the hit have been?

  • @guyinsuit1 take Karate Lessons, when I was still in my karate Club we did a lot of "Mock Battles", and you learn how to pull your punches but even if you practice alot, be sure you have someone who can take a hit in case you fail, and remember never hit any vital areas^^

  • thanks guys

  • I am actually learning stuff from these guys xD

  • thx for the tips guys!

  • Great episode ... ya chumps!
