I get this all the time! I am mixed and am told on a daily basses that I act white. I use to hang with all races but the one day a black friend of mine told me to pick a race and stick to it. You can't act a particular "color" because colors are generic descriptions of what people look like. They don't define who you are or from whom or where you descend. Not everyone with dark skin lives in urban areas. There may be similarities because people grow up in the same neighborhood or attend the same schools but those similarities are short lived...by the time u get out in the world you become a whole other person altogether.
If you are not acting anything, you are free. If you are acting like ... then you are not free. By free, I mean free to be yourself and free to be fair to yourself. Is it right to conform to generally accepted standards of respectable or moral behavior ? As a older white guy I know it is not confortable to be in a room full of black men. Often acting black is meant to mean acting ghetto which is stupid as hell. Propaganda has people believing being black means ghetto which it doesn't. Black men were falling and crawling to black women until black women completely lost their minds behind an absolute tsunami of government assistance programs in the mid 70's and early 80's that ranged from free rent and medical care to free on the job training to preferred military recruiting for minority females and since the mid 70's there has been a mass exodus away from black women.

People like to label each other. It has going on since the beginning of time and will continue until the lights are turned out on this small planet of ours. We all must be comfortable in our own skin. As far as the communication goes we must feel the audience we are communicating with and communicate with them on the topics that interest them. I also agree that I feel uncomfortable if I am the only dark skin person among a whole room of white people. I feel really displaced and awkward and uncomfortable like I can't really relate. The same happens when I am around a whole group of "ghetto" or hick Latin people although not to the sometimes extreme uncomfortableness I feel around some white people.

I define it this way - stereotypical white people are ruled more by their mind, blacks by their heart/soul. It may not be politically correct but I think this is generally true. Stereotypes develop for a reason.

I understand where you are coming from. I grew up in a Majority white area very suburban. there was like 12 blk people that graduated with me. I talk very proper and hold myself in a higher standards. I believe in belts. I have also been told during my college career that i acted "WHITE". You can't act a particular "color" because colors are generic descriptions of what people look like. They don't define who you are or from whom or where you descend. Not everyone with dark skin lives in urban areas. There may be similarities because people grow up in the same neighborhood or attend the same schools but those similarities are short lived...by the time u get out in the world you become a whole other person altogether.

I define it this way - stereotypical white people are ruled more by their mind, blacks by their heart/soul. It may not be politically correct but I think this is generally true. Stereotypes develop for a reason.
Neither is necessarily superior, but in this culture these character traits tend to be more conducive to white success.

I understand where you are coming from. I grew up in a Majority white area very suburban. there was like 12 blk people that graduated with me. I talk very proper and hold myself in a higher standards. I believe in belts. I have also been told during my college career that i acted "WHITE". I feel out of place around alot of "US" but i also feel out of place around alot of "WHITES" also. I feel that 'WE" as a people don't like to see anyone of the same color doing better than the other.

LOL ...well as far as in the urban community once you proven yourself to be respectful all the "talkin white" mess goes out the window. I'm a black man grew up in the suburbs..so I know what your dealing with.
Usually when folks say "talkin white" it really means that they don't know you and why you can't be like us? ..Viceversa when your in a high society environment they usually ask you "where are you from?" ..Well you speak very well!" ..ha! I laugh at these things because everybody does it!

I am a black male who supposedly "act and sound white". Unfortunately, the people that insult me the most are...stereotypical black americans. I grew up in a two parent home and lived the typical suburban lifestyle. You know what's funny? Those same people who make fun of me for being a software programmer and "talking and acting white" are the same people working in fast food with this bitter attitude haha. This childfree black computer geek is laughing all the way to the bank. Great video btw.

@Spartan7735 Kudos on "Acting White". It's odd how people are put down for "Acting White", yet the traits all seem to be positive:
1.) OBEYING the law, rather than getting in trouble for breaking it
2.) Getting good grades
3.) Getting a good job instead of Welfare.
America--and possibly other countries--could benefit a LOT from more people "Acting White"!

@EPGAH So true. I am a self respecting black male who does not use the n word and I am told I "act white". Those stereotypical blacks love to watch other people fail. Misery loves company. Ghetto blacks are attention seeking, loud and destructive. Their entire mentality is backwards and primitive. I thought I was the only person going through this mess, but after seeing all these videos from other blacks experiencing the same thing, I have concluded that the problem is not me, it's them.

@Spartan7735 True. Unfortunately the "black community" is no more than a mentality that states "Thou shalt act like a coon or else be cut off from thy people". What needs to happen is that WE people of black American heritage who understand what it truly means to be of that heritage MUST continually make the distinction between them and us and quit pretending there is some sacred black unity that makes us all the same.

@Spartan7735 I can understand that my friend but at the same time it shows how powerful your character is by judging them as individual people and not as a whole culture cause at that point you will have the same mentality as the people you are facing and the people our culture has faced over so many years. I mean people are people and anybody can be an asshole and intelligence is not singled out to one race of people or defined by one either
