Believe me they have wood underneath that Trim Blade, And to Clarify that is a 16,000lb Hammer, If Glynn is ever on here maybe he can Clarify but I belive that billet alone in the raw state is valued at around 13,000$ I don't think that was the Finished forging Im sure it will go back to mag and grinding room prior to bringing the forging to actual downsize
Went from buster, to block, to final, then hot trim. Good work gentlemen. Sugesstion: at the hot trim, put a piece of wood under the trimmer to keep that landing gear from getting dented as it falls through. Hot steels are VERY soft.
You have an excellent suggestion. I know nothing about drop forge, but I like to watch. Please excuse my ignorance, but why would they not know about the wood being beneficial there? Thanks.

Actually, after taking a close look at the video's last 5 seconds or so, you can see a 2" x 4" laying under the trimmer.
