  • I love the keyboard player's dance moves.

  • I loved this song back in the day, and it still holds up. Good energy to it.

  • Great freaking song !!

  • These guys are from my hometown: ATLANTA ,Ga. Just one more superband from this state. REM, B52s, Ga Satelites, Drivin N Cryin. The Producers are sadly forgotten for the most part even though their first 2-3 albums went platinum. I still got my cassettes of them, for years you couldnt find them on cd except "greatest hits". Want a real brain twister? Anybody remember a band called: Deisel, and the song: Sausolito Summer Nights? REALLY GOOD STUFF THEN, some great times!

  • @kevingthompson13 I use to see these guys in Atlanta all the time. I would run into them at the Agora Ballroom and 688 too. I saw Wayne more than the others out on the town. Great times back then. You forgot to mention “The Brains”. There was a ton of good music coming out of Atlanta late 70s into the 80s. I use to see REM for $1.96 because of 96 Rock.

  • @BasswipeNC They still live locally Im told. I would love to set up a reunion concert with them and another super ATL band......Atlanta Rythem Section. Some of the older bands are making new stuff. Steve Augeri's actual band from the late 80s; Tall Stories released a new cd this year as did ASIA (2010, OMEGA), and Foreigner, and Night Ranger, and YES. Go to Frontiersrecords channel (all one word) They are producing many of these.Omega is Asias best album. They were in ATL on tour with it.

  • Classic song! Gotta love the mobile keyboard player. Intriguing though, how he's playing the same keyboard sound on two completely different keyboards, one which is a Mini-Moog, which can only play one note at a time! (The magic of video...)

  • they were "the greatest pop band that never was!" saw them play about 10 times! our band even opened for them at a show in San Marcos, Tx. in 1983. those were the days!

  • once again. just the good ol early 80s thing. Ancient (but good) mtv.

  • Nice!

  • The original trend setters of the Miami Vice look.

  • another song from the 80s I just discovered... Its a good feeling,

  • There does not seem to be anywhere to get CDs from the band...on the website, there is a record label that is nowhere!!!! anyone know where to get these on CD?

  • @bassjaymi Kyle Henderson says that the record company was sold and that Sony owns the rights to their songs and have not re-released them. There is a battle to get that to happen. They won't even let stuff be out on I tunes. Hopefully that will happen soon.

  • Oopps all four ;)

  • I love the intro. LOL

  • fake rick neilson

  • fake Rick Neilson on "key"tar.

  • @chamberstring How is he a fake Rick NIELSEN (learn to spell)? He's nothing like Rick, and I should know, because I'm a HUGE Cheap Trick fan.

  • @VinylKidReborn I was only kiddin' around..I like The Producers-bought that LP when I was 12 years old.

  • @chamberstring spent all my allowance for the week on that record, in fact.

  • @chamberstring Oh, sorry. I couldn't tell.

  • Y103 Classic Rock in Yougstown, Oh just played this song the other day on their 5 oclock Traffic Jam then they played Diesel's Sauslito Summernights I instanly just fell in love with this song I also like in the video how they took the Keyguitar concept much much further than any other band LOL

  • @voltairesfire Hey I was listening to that too! btw...I called in to request Sausalito Summernight! Mr Sports knows how to throw down those classic jamz at 5!

  • Loved it then , love it now!!!!! :)

  • Is that Jan Hammer?

  • @swetergrl91 it's fake Rick Neilson, but with "key"tar.

  • klassik ......great !!!!

  • I still have this on Vinyl!

  • This is such a good song! Please check out our live cover of it in the Video Responses above. Much respect to the Producers!

  • Great song with all the goods that delivers!! And fun, to boot!

  • I still have this... ON CASSETTE!!!

  • @tatsandteles For those of you who are too young to know, a casette is a rectangular plastic case with tape in it, with 2 circles where thespinning mechanisms are that make the tape go, as opposed to an 8-Track that is also rectangular, but with no holes in it. And don't get me started on reel-to-reel. ROFLOL !!!

  • the greatest band that should've been...talent all around.

  • GREAT song, timeless question EVERY guy has asked. This was back when Mtv played music.......

  • They played this song and She Shelia at the Wallington Roller Rink back in 82 in New Jersey!

  • got this one on my mp 3 player..classic

  • can you send me the Mp3? I'll answer a technical music question for it! If you have 1!

  • Use forefox browser and download there free app for converting any youtube vid to Mp3!

  • @w0rmz1 Where did you find it? Is it available for legal download anywhere?

  • I'm lucky to have the album. It's very hard to find now. These guys should've gotten big but didn't.

  • "the greatest pop band that never was!" DK (San Antonio)

  • forgot about this song,i loved this song when i was ten and used to watch this on mtv, that keyboardist is a nut lol

  • I saw them a few times in concert in the early 80's. They were and are great. Why the EFF can't I find them on amazon?

  • I think they opened for the Adam Ant Concert in 83 or 84 in Atlanta. Hard to believe that was 25 years ago!!

  • This is one of my favorite 80's songs!

  • Love the song and video. Wayne Famous is great on the keyboards and rest of the bands is very good too.

Read about what happened to them on Wikepedia. Pretty interesting how you can be with the wrong label at the wrong time.

  • great song .....great band.....early mtv treat!!!!

  • I have had there albums since the day..Bought it on Itunes great recordings would love to find master of these vids and redo sound,,,,Awesome band they got raw deal in recording industry...

  • LOVE THEM

  • THis great. I love 80's music. I born at at the end of the 80s so I missed all the great music.

  • That keyboard player is so springy! Kind of like a real life Q-Bert!

  • Saw them many, many times--The Bluenote and the Poison Apple at Mizzou. Wow, this brings back some really good times.

  • forgot about these guys, saw them in rome ga. back in the 80's

  • missed them. dang

  • these guy`s played at E.C.U. back in the early 80`s.. RIP Attic

  • I walked into Grahams Central Station, a bar, a big one in San Antonio Texas in the 80s. That night I walked in with a Army buddy and when they said they wanted $5.00 for a cover when we used to walk in free I asked why. Thye said we have a couple live bands tonight, The Producers, and Hall and Oates! I was loving getting them both for 5 bucks! It is still the best show I ever saw because of the way they both played and because it was 5 clams!

  • Such a great song from a vastly under-recognized band. They truely captured the teenage angst of the 80's. They sound great ant thanks so very much for bringing back college memories.

  • Hey, I jammed with Brian the drummer and a lot of ther musicians in Callorton Ga back in the early 80's, Some idiot call the cops on us because of the volume, but we still kept playing. Great sound and great band.

  • I LOVED early MTV. the buggles, the tubes, the producers. I just wish I coul remember the name of that dude who dressed up like dracula and sung some kind of cheesy disco song.

  • You're probably thinking of Taco: Putting on the Ritz

  • Either Taco, or Eddie Money: I think I'm in Love

  • no,I know those.... this dude was bald and the word nuveau or something was in his name. thanks anyways!

  • Classic Nuveaux, perhaps ?

  • Wayne Famous kicks ass! How many bald musicians actually have the balls to strap on a Key-tar and jump out front like that ?!?!? xD

  • I saw them play in '85 and had a blast! I still love this song :-)

  • producers rock great early mtv band, hell no i don't forget......

  • I caught this on VH1 Classic, watched it about a million times and between the song and the video, it is pretty much the most awesome thing I've seen in a long time. Love the drummer at 2:54!!

  • Does anyone know where one can some of the songs that this band did? I have the LP, but would love to get it on iTunes or CD

  • I wish I knew, too. They put out a CD of their two 80's albums back in 2000. It went out of print quickly, and now it sells for over $100 on eBay. If anyone knows a site where the singles can be downloaded, let me know!

  • Why does SnagIt SUCK when I try to copy this??!!??!

Is there a better video/audio capture software out there??? I mean SnagIt is ok and stuff, but just not with the good bass (I hear) and am used to hearin....

    Anyone????

  • Most animated keyboardist in any music vid EVER!!! Love it!!!

  • Best band out of georgia in the 80's and that's saying something.

  • ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!, These guys are from Georgia?!?!?! Way too cool!!!! They were the best band in the 80's!!! I saw them in Austin, Texas in 1983. Brian Holmes and Wayne Famous crossed 6th Street to talk to us. I still have the envelope they autographed. They were a couple of great guys.

  • I remember talking to Wayne once and he had dumped all of his keyboard samples.

    He was so bummed.

What a great band and great songs!

    They're nice guys as well.

  • o.o LOVE YOU!!!! <3 !!!! LOVE THIS BAND

  • brilliant,clever lyrics......

  • OMG I haven't heard this song in decades. What a great tune.

  • Loved these guys back in the day. Saw them live once and had a great time. Great energy. Excellent drummer and vocals too.

  • I worked at a ministry in Atlanta in the 90's with Kyle Henderson. He is a great guy. He was the editor for a teen magazine from a group called Walk Thru the Bible Ministries. The teen magazine was called youthwalk. We would have a chapel service once a week and he played a song for the group a couple of times. A very smart nice guy. He had a heart for helping teens get through those tough years. I haven't seen him since those days. Great Song!

  • @thankyou4me He is still a great guy i am sure of it.. haven't heard from him in two years since his son (one of my best friends) daniel died. He was on his way to becoming a world class bassist. And i MEAN world class. I doubt i will ever get to meet up with kyle again.

  • So WHAT happened to these guys? After "She Sheila" they fell off the globe. Fighting? Money? Solo careers? What gives?

  • The bands manager ticked off the record company who then dropped them from the label with a finished album in the can (later released as Coelecanth). They couldn't get any more label support, radio airplay, and MTV had changed creative direction. They remained road dogs for a few years, but dates got too few and far between. Tim Smith (Kyles replacement) joined up with Cheryl Crow and continues to tour with her as her band leader. Original line-up still plays now and then.

  • been playing this in my head lately!thanks you tube!!!back to my teenz!!!

  • great tune from the day

  • i played this song in 43 states from 1982-86

borderline alway's got the crowd going wild,

    thank you for posting,what memorie's

  • saw them this past summer they opened for the Tubes .. they are still around and still rockin

  • One of my favorite videos! Have all their records including Coelacant. Waiting for the release in cd of run for your life. I`m all the way down from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil! Congrats you guys!!

  • saw em twice in chattanooga in the mid ,late 80s once national guard armory. ex prince guitarist Dez Dickerson also there.I was a hard rocker ZZ top type but loved this band, great pop band really good musicians underrated for sure

  • I saw them play this song many times. I loved all of their songs. They should have been bigger in the 80s.

  • I agree. This song and "She Sheila" were two of my faves from the 80's!

  • opened for these guys back in the day, they were TOP OF THE HEAP in the southeast. still love "You make the HEAT"

  • NO shit?.....I have both their cassettes. "the Producers" and "You make the Heat" this is the first time either videos.

I'm a big fan. that's really cool if that's true....

  • oh I love this!!!!!!!

  • I thought id never find this one thanx!!

  • I saw NRBQ @ Richards Rock club in ATL, IN the 70's, and bruce springsteen opened for them! They are still touring ya know. Where are you at JKMassaro?

  • hey JKMassaro, not too many people know about Terry and the boys, good to see somebody does!

  • Loved NRBQ back in the day! That's why I like The Producers so much. They kinda picked up where Terry & Tom left off...

  • Great video...so 80s. Great to see again, thanks for posting.

  • i'm mixed on this song (it sounds a little lightweight but catchy), but i love power pop, like shoes, the raspberries, matthew sweet, the knack, dwight twilley, etc...and the mighty cheap trick of course!

  • I can't believe that I found this video, thank you for it, I forgot it and now I remember it like it was yesterday, I saw them in the early 80's about 82 or 83 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Rep.

    Thank You

  • I thought these guys were from Florida??

  • Atlanta. We used to open for them. Great, great live show. :)

  • Wow, forgot all about this song. What a great find!!! Thanks for the post

  • Always liked these guys. They kinda have that NRBQ sound going...

  • they played atl a great deal. is the band from there?

  • Hi, this is Richie. I run The Producers' myspace page. A longtime friend of the band gave me this and the other videos. I got permission from the band to put these up. The band still plays from time to time. To show your support, go to myspace and type in the browser heartheproducers. Don't forget to change the browser from WEB to MYSPACE.

  • 1993, I was at a soccer tournament in Atlanta GA, my team went into a club called "The American Pie". Place was packed and because I was so young, I was having the time of my life - women, booze, music... everyone was having a blast. Then, in the back of the club there was a stage and everyone was now heading towards it cuz they announced a band was about to start. "Ladies and gentlemen, The Producers!" They ripped into this song and we all remembered it from the 80's, what incredible memories!

  • Wow...once again, had no idea this even existed! Thanks so much for the post...it is amazing this band didn't hit it bigger...Every song on You Make the Heat was rockin'..still love it as much as when I first heard it..good times back in the day!! Thanks again.

  • Awesome stuff. I saw them open for U2 in UNC's football stadium in April 1983...what a strange combination lol. Yes, they never made it that big, and yes they were from Atlanta...NOT Chicago. Incredible pop songs...great stuff that you would never hear these days.

  • I have this album autographed.

    They were/are great!

  • The Producers ARE NOT from Chicago. They are from the Atlanta Georgia area. Please don't post unless you know your facts. Very underrated band!!!

  • I thought Kyle Henderson was from Indianapolis

  • Rick Nielsen imitation "yes"!! The Producers are from Chicago Like Cheap Trick also!!

I met them in San Diego in like 1982?

They should have been the next Beatles as great as their songs are and how well they sing and play etc..!! What is wrong with people??

    Johnny

  • DrumDude46: You said it, man! There's very little good music today - it's all simplistic, repetitive beats and foul language cranked out by 'musicians' who can't even play an instrument! Maybe someday, we'll remember that music doesn't have to be about 'bitches' and 'ho's' and street cred, and SOMEONE can get back to playing some real music!

  • Fun Song :-)

  • "ASR10MAN" below: hilarious to read comments such as yours, dissing one of the best decades for Music. ever. and no doubt one you missed yes? probably not even born yet. bummer that you didn't come along till music started its' slow, steady spiral into the toilet. you missed the most fun time, and Punk-ass's like yourself, weren't walking

around yet, with their stupid baseball caps slid sideways off their head, throwing up hand gestures to look "Threatening". Lol Eminem Generation sucks

  • Outstanding comment drumdude46. Couldn't have written it any better. This generationS music IS NOT for the ages. Luckily, I came of age in the 80's and feel incredibly fortunate to have not only grown up in that decade but emerge myself in the diversification that was the music in the 80's. Kids now will never really ever appreciate what true musicians do. The Producers, though now long gone, will forever live in our hearts. The hearts of those of us who were there and witnessed TALENT. :-)

  • manfromacne: your welcome! lol yeah, i'm "From the 80's" as it were. a drummer in fact.

and can't stand to see some of the Shit being put forth today as "happenin". these smarmy kids, who, unfortunately, only have Naz, or Britney spears to guage what's good anymore.

really sad. but i won't let some pimple faced Eminem wanna-be with his boxer shorts showing, Tell ME what time it is, know what i mean? peace dude. the80's live on.

  • Whoa! I love The Producers! I love this song and the whole album it's on. Thank you for uploading this video! It's the funnest.

  • Great song! Thanks for posting.

  • my older brother turned me on to these guys when I was in high school , he was very new/wave pop and me punk but I got into it just the same it was a great album kind of what if the Jam had turned into an 80's pop band ..

  • I didn't know JFK jr. played guitar in this band!

  • What a gem. The Producers should have been bigger than this but that's ok. This is just one of those 80's pieces that just makes you smile and feel good. I remember MTV playing this back in the day. Again, what a gem. Freshman in college. Chicks, beer, etc. Life was good back then. Thanks for the post!

  • Ohmigod, this totally rocks! I remembered the video, but couldn't for the life of me remember the name of the band or the song! This brings back so many memories!!! Thanks for posting!

  • This is a great song, and the keyboard player

is Wayne famous!! He kicks ass!! That is the

way it was in the 80's!!! It was a great era

and I'm a metal head and no way gay!!!

    Ignorance is you !!

  • Wayne Famous and his Oberheim doing his Rick Neilsen impression! My college frat party band covered "She Sheila" and it stunk big time, but all the girls danced. The Producers should have made it as big as the Tubes or the Romantics....why didn't they?

  • OMG - the memories this brings! they opened for the Romantics in Baton Rouge and I was immediately hooked....left after their set (who wants to see guys with more makeup on than yourself :)) Saw them many, many times! I wish I could get the 2 CD remastered set!

  • I love youtube.. I still have the tapes. I liked this band so much in high school that I was voted most likely to mgr this groups reunion tour. lol.. That was 22 years ago..

  • This band. .and especially this song. .SHOULD have been much bigger in the '80s. I knew Brian through a friend and saw many shows around Atlanta. Saw them open for the English Beat who opened for the Pretenders. .at the Agora Ballroom. .for $10. They blew the English Beat outta the water. Notice the "Don Johnson" look. .pastel coats and Chinese tee shirts. I loved the look, the era and the band. Atlanta hasn't been the same since.

  • I agree, this band should have been much bigger, I'm just glad I got to see them live 20 years ago in my hometown. I also saw Iron Maiden at the Agora in 1982 for $5! We got to meet some of them and they let some of our underage friends in thru backstage. THE best show I ever been to!

  • Saw them in a packed bowling alley bar in the 80's in Warren Ohio.....It was about 90 degrees out and these guys blew the roof off. Very Fun

  • Agreed Brother!

  • Best fucking 80's band ever@@@@!! I agree with the guy below.

    Doug in tennessee

  • best fucking 80's band ever. Period!

  • a good group--they could at least play these songs on 80s radio stations

  • Love the tempo of this song, very 80ish, full of energy, outstanding song!!

  • Awesome band with great harmonies.

  • opened for these guys in Pensacola Fl at FRANCOS back in "the day". They were AMAZING....."You Make the Heat!!!"

  • I remember seeing these The Producers on the Bill Tush Show (an old variety show on TBS from way back in 1981).

  • Ah yes an early MTV favorite, love this song

and remember the video, a definite toe tapper.

Always liked the keyboard players name,

    Wayne Famous...cool name.

  • guilty pleasure? Nope, it's a very solid pop rock gem from the good ol days of MTV. Keytar!

  • Ah, yes, but this was pre keytar. That was an actual Oberheim synth (no plastic. Over 50lbs of metal and wood. Wayne was a large, strong man. I'd love to be his chiropractor.

  • From what i've read, Wayne had major lower back issues, as a result of him jumping around with his Oberheim. Should have switched to a 5 lb Yamaha KX5 or a Roland Axis.

  • This was before the Axis or even the KX5, both of which I owned at one time. The only true remote at this time was a controller that Roger Powell with Utopia made himself. When I saw the Producers in 1989 Wayne was using a Lync LX9 remote if I remember correctly. Very nice for it's day. It smoked the Axis I was using. I was deeply jeaalous. Sold my Axis in 1992 at a garage sale.

  • The Powell Probe! I remember.

  • Saw them on several occasions in really small clubs in the deep South. Drummer was wicked fast & Wayne Famous was the man.

  • Loved this song when it came out, and especially the opening...very entertaining :-)

  • This is a great great band !! Saw them in Chicago, Excellent show.
