@1988linds Oh it's some kind of a wands-kit. A cotton case in which he kept his spare wands. Snape did not use his own wand probaby for safety reasons. It was not mentioned in the book though I guess....

No its his wand. There's just some potions things in it as well, I always notice the tiny spatula. Pretty sure it was just for melodramatic purposes, he is a very tightly controlled and meticulous character and this was just another way of showing it...That and for viewing purposes, the filmmakers probably wanted the audience to focus on some type of action instead of watching him stand there explaining things.

I also think AR counts out in his mind somehow everything he's going to say or do; every word and move has a musicality to it. This guy is like practicing Mesmerizing techniques on us; it's working AND he's getting away with it! I say we go arrest him and get down to the bottom of it. Mass mesmerization will not be tolerated (even if we do enjoy it)

I can say what he says there easily but it took me a few tries to get it right but you're right, he does have amazing verbal skills! Alan Rickman is a great actor! I don't think that anyone else could have played Snape as well as he did.

@prettycute45 What Rickman did with this role is nothing short of transcendent. I can't say enough about it and I'm so not a fan of acting. For me, it's always been the raggedy stepchild of the arts. Who would want to be an actor when they could be a singer, a dancer, a writer, a painter? I just never understood or cared about the art/power of acting until Rickman schooled me. Now I finally get it. Sadly, I think Rickman could care less about all of our deep feelings on the whole matter! Meh!

But later we find out that he knew exactly what Harry meant and he alerted the Order immediately. Incidentally, all the serum Snape had given Umbridge earlier was fake.

I hate that they don't show when Snape calls Lily a Mudblood. It's the most important part of that scene. He didn't mean to call her that, he was just angry and humiliated and it slipped out, and it's so sad that it ruined their friendship, because he had loved her & wanted her and needed her.

I also love the part when Umbridge is asking him for more Veritaserum, and he tells her "Unless you wish to poison him, and I assure you I'd have the greatest sympathy if you did."

as someone who has read both harry potter and twilight, i can tell that Rowling had a solid plot outlined with subtle connections all throughout the series and its characters are complex. i can relate to almost every character.

with twilight, it's very obvious that meyers wrote the 4th one without thinking and just wrote it as she went. and the entire series (all 4 books) can be summarized in a paragraph, with harry potter i could very easily write 100 page essay.
