So chronologically, DonkeyKong Jr. came first, and then Donkey Kong came. Basically, Mario was the one who started the whole fight by stealing DK's dad XD

If you want proof, I think this was heavily hinted somewhere in DK64. I think it's in that game where it hints that DKjr is actually the K we know and love today.

Believe it or not, he wasn't Mario yet. He was called "Jumpman", and was originally a carpenter.

Later on, he changed his career to being a plumber, and became that Mario that we all know and love.

I guess he was angry being a carpenter, kidnapped Donkey Kong, and threatened Donkey Kong Junior with weapons. XD
