Been learning to mix on the vestax typhoon with Traktor for past 3 months, looking to up my game with a new controller. £400ish to spend. The Traktor S2 looks a good piece of kit for meself and its £320 at the minute. Which is going be the better controller for myself? If i had this could i get a set of turntables or cdjs to go with it. Being as its a 4 deck controller?? If anyone could help me out, please comment. Cheers
My friend just purchased 1 of these its looks pretty neat. He running a night and taking it down i am playing but i use touch dvs. If he uses channels 2&3 as midi for vdj and i plug my 1210s into 1&4 and we switch ithe unit to 4out mode can i use my own laptop and soundcard to run my timecoded vinyl with Touch and he do his set in vdj? So basically i would have my own setup and just use this unit as a mixer because main pa will be runnin into it. Cheers
@mrpianoman7531 Hi, thanks for your question. The VMS4 has more options and is a great tool for gigging DJ's. If your looking to start out the Numark Mixtrack Pro might be a good choice as it comes bundled with a light version of VirtualDJ and has a lower price point. With the VMS4 you get Traktor LE pro DJ software, a rugged controller which can stand moving around and might even gain more knowledge quicker as your exposed to a lot of pro features.
@Skeithie Hi, thanks for your question. We've posted a link on our blog where you can find a few VMS4 mapping templates for use with Traktor. Thanks for watching!
@WinkSound Hey. I've searched on the website for like 30min but couldn't find anything. Would you be so kind and could post the mapping links in the video description?
@OGRUNERFUL Hi, thanks for watching! You can check out ProAudioStar(dot)com for prices on the VMS4. And they ship anywhere! You can find the link to the product in the video description but here it is again: ProAudioStar(dot)com/american-audio-vms4-1-usb-digital-dj-controller.html
I just started getting into djing / music production, and was wondering if this controller was compatible with ableton live 7. I do eventually plan on getting traktor pro, but was wondering for the time being if this would work well with ableton.
@abezell865 Hi, thanks for getting in touch. Ableton will work with any control surface that supports MIDI mapping such as the VMS4. You'll be able to map certain parameters and make the two talk without much effort. A quick youtube search of "VMS4 Ableton Live" will deliver a few results on how this can be done. Thanks for watching and hope this info helps.
can anyone say to me which is the difference between this vms4 vs vms4 traktor edition? Im going to buy the non traktor edition, and i'm scared that it wont work with traktor! D:
@espaciocool no! it's the same, the traktor edition comes from europe that's it, the virtual dj edition comes in american edition, the only thing is that you won't have your mapped version on the traktor, and don't worry jajajaj there's people that has waaay worse english:D
heey if i connect a CDJ 350 with RCA ni the back, the usb of the cdj should go to the computer? and how i will use both cdjs 350 with the vms4 on vritual dj? i mean will virtual detect that i connected som cdjs?
@GreatALAD Hi, thanks for your question. You can connect your CDJ 350 as an analog source but the AMS4 will always be the main controller. For a more detailed explanation you can always get in touch with the guys at ProAudioStar(dot)com. They're always happy to help answer any questions regarding the setup and specs of the equipment.
@Pier2pie Hi, thanks for getting in touch. The American Audio VMS4 is a great entry into the world of digital DJing. Awesome to jam out with you friends and better your DJ chops.
Hi @baldwing0613 thanks for your question. The VMS4 doesn't appear to have EQ Kill swithces, although that would prove quite useful. The VMS4 is fully MIDI mappable though which could, in theory, provide a work around for assigning an EQ kill switch on the controller.
@Mrdetail41 Most of the main features are already mapped out. The cool thing about the VMS4 is that it's built as an open source controller so it works with any software that support the "MIDI Learn" function. So once setup, if you realize you'd like re-map any parameter you can go ahead an do so easily.
@wantedwanted21 Hi, thanks for getting in touch. The guys over at ProAudioStar(dot)com ship all around the world and they can definitely answer that question for you. You can reach them by, phone, facebook, twitter or their site chat function. Let us know if you managed to get in contact. -Mateo
is this worth getting?. i have been using virtual dj with mouse and keyboard for some time. and want to get real equipment. This thing doesn't look too hard. Is it easy to handle for a bginner?
@BestGames4You Get an kontrol s4, it may be harder to learn on but youll be glad you bought it once you get good. I got a numark ns7 because i thought it would be nice, but easy to use. It was just that. A while later i need a new controller and will half to sell it to buy a better controller.
Nice demonstration on the VMS4, please continue making videos. I will post a master mixing video of me on the VMS4 doing live mixes with current hits, thanks.
Hey guys go this is a pretty good mixer u can see me mixing with in on my channel it has some major mixing problem so I like use this other software to record through my dj I need to plug in like a wire through the booth its a hassle but check out my mix
@jonkinum i would buy the numark mixtrack pro if i were you, its similar to the typhoon in layout and function but features more cue points which are fun to play with if your just starting. And also it is in the same price range as the typhoon, starting at $250
A friend of mine has the Vestax Typhoon and personally i think you should go get the VMS4 its obviously more expensive but it has entries to 1/4 inch cables witch the Vestax dosent have. Also when you get good the Vestax wont have as many functions as the VMS4 so go for the VMS4
Well I am just sending my typhoon back... too much problems making it work with TRAKTOR and headphones dont work work with neither VDJ nor Traktor Pro...
and after 2 weeks I feel I will need some more buttons so I don't loose so much time mapping modifiers for the typhoon. I though it was something good to start with but its definetly better to wait a bit more and buy something more professional (both user and manufacture)... I will wait one more month and buy the VSM4. lets see..
