well, do you speak all three languages? Japanese, Korean and Filipino? you can get around in those city. you'll more frequently find english speakers in hk than any of korea, japan and filipino, it's been a british colony for centuries. if you are going to mainland china, it depends on which city you're going to. more developed cities, like Shanghai, Beijing etc english is fine their, it certainly works in hotels like sheration, marriot etc.
