Roland owns Boss, so a Boss 201 is the same thing as a Roland 201.

I've got a fender 65' twin reverb; really jazzy and clean. Would recommend this SIB Varidrive to accomplish a heavy sound (think high on fire, etc.) that keeps during chords and individ. notes? I've got a boss metalzone right now and it just sounds like garbage when i play chords.

Yeah I think the SIB can do that, although it's a little loose in the bass end. Its sound is really dependent on what tube is inside.

ive been wanting a sib varidrive for sometime now.. its sad they arent making anymore of it... heard there was a new 2 channel varidrive on the works.. know anything about it?

I haven't heard of that. The early SIB pedals are really great, I've always wanted to try the fatdrive and echodrive, but they're both pretty rare.
