Dont listen to anybody saying you need so and so amount of sleep. The amount of sleep you need is based on how you feel based on how much you get. If you feel fine after 5 hours, then 5 hours is enough. If you are still tired after 5 hours, you need more. Everybodys requirements are different. For me 5 hours is fine for me. I can function easily on that. 8 hours is great, but I have sleeping problems so 8 hours is rare unless I go to bed shitfaced. Its different for everybody.
Well, i have sleep problems ... Sometimes, i may not sleep for to days in a row, when i try to go to bed in the evening i still fall asleep in about 4 am, then I can't wake up till 3, 2 pm ... i Don't why is this happening to me, but because of this i Got huge problems :(
i try to get 50 h sleep a week, mostly i sleep 7,5 hours from sunday to thursday, and friday i take a nap in the afternoon, celebrate weekends by partying and sleeping good.
Haha, weird I watch this now, I'd really bad sleep last night! Watched the aviator before going to sleep and kept dreaming I was in a plane crash and would then wake up! Currently on my fourth coffee as a result! Anyway great vid, entertaining as always.
Yeah, with 9 hours each night I never really get tired during the day. I'm an artist an work at home so don't really have a weekend like salary people. I know people that need naps and sleep more on weekends since they don't get enough durring the week. That's never the case for me with 9 hours. And when I do go to bed I'm not overly tired. Yeah Kevin, sounds like Japan keeps you energized and you can get by on less sleep. But I'm 61 and you look like you're in your 40's. Just wait. LOL
9 hours is normal for me these days. I haven't drank for 6 years; but used to plow it down. Then I needed 12 hours a night to function well. I have a good daily routine which I think helps also these days. I don't travel or drive like I used to as much either. Yeah, sounds like you could use a little more sleep; but if you're a busy active person and love what you do that probably keeps you energized also. I have one cup of coffee in the morning and one in the evening. Works good for me.
Sleep is Crucial for your overall health. I wrote and article on how much sleep you should get a night, link is on my profile. Please don't mark as spam, i'm trying to help people get a good sleep.
I needed about 12 hours until about 18 years old, when Uni forced me to have 10 hours, then 8, then pulling numerous all nighters. It's a useful skill to master I tells ya.
I usually get 8hrs of sleep but ..I figured that 9 hrs of sleep is what I need ..I thought well...its no big deal but...when u get sick like evey couple months or even every month...i bet its sleep deprivation nothing else!I Cause i am very athletic and watch the food I eat!People get enough sleep!!!!!
P.S. Alcohol ruins your sleep... see the Stuff You Should Know podcast on hangovers. So don't drink too much makoli before bed. Maybe you can trick yourself with achim het ssal if you can find it :P
3 hours a nite on weekdays, i sleep in on the weekends and get about 8 hours sleep then, maybe a bit more. It doesnt really affect me all that much. I just don't like sleeping at night.
I get at LEAST 8 hours of sleep a night. If I don't have anything going on the next day though, I can sleep well into the afternoon and have 10-12 hours.
wow ~ i'm definitely an oddity i guess. i bring a whole new meaning to "sleep like a baby". i average 12-16 hours of sleep a day. i have no circadian (?) rhythm at all. for example, last night (this morning?) i finally fell asleep around 8am after lying in bed for 5 hours. i dragged myself out of bed around 5:30pm. that's pretty typical. there have been days where i haven't gotten out of bed at all! it's pretty gross!!! and it's all thanks to unemployment. not a recommended lifestyle at all!!
Back in the army days I slept 6-7 hrs a day and that was fine.
Now, ten years later, I sleep for 8 hrs a day and often still feel half dead after getting up. I have no problems sleeping for 12 hours, although I'm not working hard, neither mentally nor physically.
I think this has strong motivational causes because I'm lacking assignments and challenges that I'm really interested in.
6 to 7 hours a night is average for me. Though on a night like tonight (after 3 beers! wow!) I might head to bed before 10 PM and enjoy a nice even 8 hours of dreamin'. -Kurt :-)
depends on the day. on a work day; maybe 5 hours or so. on a day off; too much, lol. usually about 12. i love to sleep. when i dont get alot of sleep im actually fine, probably because i get so much other times.
I'm a college student (though not for much longer), so I know I don't have normal sleep patterns.
That being said, I can get anywhere from 0 to 11 hours during the week and usually end up sleeping 10 to 14 hours on the weekend to catch up. I also nap between classes sometimes, particularly when on those nights when I barely get any sleep.
I've slept couple of years now without any real schedule (no alarms). Because of the work I do, I can sleep when I'm tired and be wake when I'm not. Only have to make sure to get that 8 hours of work done per day.
Usually that means that I either sleep only short snaps during a day or 9 at night. Somehow human body (atleast mine) just wakes up when it needs to.
i sleep pretty late from 1-2 am and for some weird reason i cant ever sleep in usually wake up between 6:30-7:30 am so i get about 5-6 hours of sleep and i never have problems sleeping i usually just knock out when i want to kinda weird i know haha
Well, since I have to get up for school at 6:00 + do homework until all hours of the night, I get about 6 hours. But on weekends I make up for it by going to be really early, and getting about 9-11 hours of sleep.
In the week about 6 hours, in the weekend 10 hours. Which is about how much I need in order not to feel tired during the day, though the 6 hours can get me through the day. Though I do occasionally have a really hard time keeping my eyes open during boring moments... I don't like coffee and energy drink don't really seem to have much of an effect on me... I keep saying to myself I should go to bed a bit earlier, but as soon as I get home I regain all my energy. :P
I often don't get enough sleep...when I get verry little I start falling asleep while working....or in the car...on the couch....or the floor...You get the idea
I attend a major university in New York State with a 1 hour commute time each way. One thing I have learned is to not give up sleep for anything. I have stayed extremely healthy this semester. Up until this semester like someone else pointed out I was only getting about 3 hours b/c of classes. However, this new found sleep has made my brain work better and my grades are a lot higher as a result.
well i usually get 6-8h of sleep but due to my irregular schedule of classes sometimes i oversleep and wake up at 3pm and then when i have classes the next morning i have a tendency of only getting a little sleep like 1:30 - 3h. But i did learn something, not only from experience but also my godfather(doctor) if you get exactly between 2-3h of sleeps you can perform quite well the next day and not feel the lack of sleep, ofcourse if u do just drink a cup of REAL expresso like we have here :)
4-6hrs of sleep I get. but I really don't fall asleep till 5-7am witch is bad. but I feel blah till night time kicks in after work. funny how that works out. hehe
I definitely average less than 8, and in fact it seems almost impossible for me to be asleep for 8 hours a night, but as I've gotten older (I'm 40), I feel less and less capable of living on the amount of sleep I get (avg. maybe 6.5). I feel so much better on the rare nights that I sleep 8 or close to it.
Uhmmmmmm..... I get about 3-5 hours of sleep a night. I'm super tires for the first 2 hours I wake up... but then I'm good.... no other effect really.... but I am a college student.....
Haha its your fault! Just kidding... But I do watch YouTube videos unitil like 3 am.. which Is what I'm doing now.... But sometimes I super hibernate, like when I get a saturday or sunday off of work.. that once every 2 weeks or so .....
i average less than 5 hours of sleep,,every night,(which is why i have dark circles under my eyes!!). i spend about 2 hours working out(rpm and body pump) daily and work the wee hours of the morning as a merchandiser, plus go to pharmacy school full time.......yet i dont sleep much...hmmmmm!!!! btw i am 46 years of age...
I sleep for about 5 and a half hours a day. When i wake up in the morning it feels so horrible, but i noticed even if i got to sleep early i just dont like waking up in general. Overall though 5.5 hours a day for me is enough for me.
Yea I get about 5-6 hours during the week. Then on the weekends I sleep all morning. (But I dont get to sleep till much later) all in all about 40 hours a week. Not too bad. If I dont get sleep and I am at my main work place, I pretend to study Japanese (I try to) and fall asleep while thinking about the answer. At my schools when I am tired I sleep between classes like the other teachers ^^ power naps man! power naps!
Around 5-6 hours is about average for me. But with school coming to an end for the holidays, I should have much more time to sleep. Although I most likely will being seeing some family friends instead of sleeping. Great video btw. 5 starz
I get 7 1/2 to 8 hours of sleep. I haven't been getting that lately and I am very slugish once I don't have enough sleep. I end up looking like a zombie and feel like I'm gonna pass out all day if I don't get that much sleep. I end up drinking a ton of pop to wake me up enough to function once I don't get a lot of sleep.
I try to get 8 hours.. but I never seem to get there..
I sleep for about 5-6 hours a night.. sometimes 4..
So when I'm done with classes I often just fall onto the couch and sleep for a few hours before I start studying for exams or whatnot, which results in me being up all night, and so the evil circle continues..
About 6 or 7 hours, but fairly often only 5. I drink coffee once or twice a week, usually on weekend mornings. Which I've only started doing the last few years, so its works pretty good for me : )
For me, 6.5 to 7 hours seems to be best, though I always think I want 8. On the rare occasions that Nina let's me sleep past 6:00 in the morning, and I can get 8 hours sleep, though, I always feel sleepy, so I think it's too much. 6 hours here and there is OK, but for me, 6 hours night after night is not enough and I get worn down.
Good job on the running, BTW. With the excersice, I'd recommend you aim for at least 7 hours a night.
Well, for days when I have to get up early, usually about 7-8 hours of sleep, and for days when I don't have to get up early, usually 9-10 hours of sleep.
8 hours average a night. Although I find myself getting extremely tired during the afternoon sometime around sunset. Being a teenager, our circadium rythms get completely loopy and different from adults and children. Oh well :P More sleep is nice.
I'm 23 but I'm kinda of a late bloomer so I'm still in that between teenage and adult stage of life so I tend to need 9-11, I have actually slept over 12 hours when I didn't have a morning class in college
You know, I read that college students only get about 6 hours of sleep, on average. I also find it interesting that it mentioned college students go to bed around 2 a.m., and wake up at 8 a.m.
I don't sleep enough mostly i sleep aroung 4am and wake up at 11am soooo yea but sometime like maybe out of the month in one week i do sleep like at 11pm and wake up late lol like 1 am but i do get frustrated ...................... Its not my fault i just cant sleep
I usually get 6 to 8 hours a weekday, 8 to 9 on weekends.
I cannot get up unless I have at least 6 hours of sleep, and on that, I am pretty useless... I've been getting more sleep this semester and feel great, haven't even got sick yet!
I go from terrible (1-4 hrs per night), to poor (4-6hrs), to good (8-10), to too much (10-12), just depending on stress levels and whatnot. Days I'm feeling the best I've usually slept 9 hours. If I sleep more than that, I know my body's trying to make up for lost time.
When I don't sleep well, the biggest problem I have is feeling exhausted and like I can't think straight. I also will sometimes feel like I've been sleep-walking the whole day. Fun times, man, fun times. XD
I need atleast 8 hours of sleep to function anywhere near normally the next day. During the week I try to sleep 8-9 hours and on weekends I sleep the required 10 hours atleast (the amount I need to not feel super tired when I have to get up). If I sleep too little I get irritated, my eyes don't focus, I'm sleepy and just want to lay down.
It kind of weird that you posted this today because I don't go to bed last night.... 8 cups of joes seems to do the trick(finals)
But yeah, I've bin only getting about 3 or 4 hours a night for around a month now.... And let me tell you, I feel like shit! Oh well winter break starts in just a week! (-.-)Zzz
Firstly STOP YAWNING!!! Its contagious! I don't sleep well or enough. Secondly, could you please make it so your video's sound is higher? When you are inside it's barely loud enough to hear. When you are outside its mostly loud enough. It's really frustrating to be straining to hear your vids.
These days I usually get a luxurious 8 - 11 hours of sleep a day. But then I'm in school, and I have had a pretty nice schedule this term. I only had class one day a week (my 2 other courses were online), so on other days it was sleep in time for me! :)
I get about 8 hours most nights but can mange on 6 for days at a time if I must. But that's not the kicker. Sometimes I have to work overnight. I cannot really get to sleep in the afternoon to prepare for this. I just lay there and relax, work the overnight and then crash about ten the next morning for about 3 hours. If I have to work the next night as well, I'm pretty much in the situation of having had 3 hours of sleep in 36 hours. Not good.
i usually get about 6 hours, with an hour nap in the middle of the day. if i get less than 6 than im usually fine for the first few hours, then start to feel really run down by noon. also, if i dont take the afternoon nap i get a headache in the evening and feel really irritable.
I always try to schedule my day so that I get at LEAST 7 hours a night, sometimes i get up to 10 hours on a really good night, but if i get too much sleep I find it gets harder to get up in the mornings so i try to keep it down. If I get any less than 7 hours I'll just be a bit antisocial the next day and will find it more difficult to hold a decent conversation with anyone. My sleep is important!
Halfassed badass kick your ass kiss my ass asshole assbackwards Big ass (truck, car, hamburger, ass) I love the posterior obsessed American language :-D 5 stars for your badass video man! I sleep about 6 hours a night. (But be careful.. the "question of the day" is under the spotlight on Youtube at the moment!!)
Sleep...Hmmm, Ideally, I like to get 9-10 hours a night, but when you've got stuff to do that you really WANT to do and enjoy, you can do fine with about half as much sleep.
I think It's all about finding your passion in life. That's what gives us our energy to burn the candle at both ends.
depends some nights I sleep really well and some nights I dont could be due to my naps in the middle of the day. But usually I get atleast 5-6 hours with no reprocusions the next morning so its not bad
I would probably sleep around 9-10 hours every night if I could. Unfortunately, I've been getting exceedingly good at not sleep all that much. Not that I don't feel like crap the next day.
I like at least 8 to 9 hours. I can get by on less but I don't feel my best. Since I've been in Japan I've picked up the Japanese habit of napping on trains which I don't really think is particularly healthy.
I get WAY too much sleep, like 10-12 hours. Its mad! Though about a year ago I suffered from insomnia where I slept like a few hours every couple of days etc so I like to think I'm catching up on that ;) lol

I find I need a min. 8 a night mostly of school. I find myself really mentally exhaused if I don't get at least 8 regulary.
lazypuddycat 2 years ago
Ah usually around 4-6. Mostly because of procrastination.
cheesecakechan 2 years ago
you procrastinate about going to bed?
BusanKevin 2 years ago
I definitely average less than 8, and in fact it seems almost impossible for me to be asleep for 8 hours a night, but as I've gotten older (I'm 40), I feel less and less capable of living on the amount of sleep I get (avg. maybe 6.5). I feel so much better on the rare nights that I sleep 8 or close to it.
DavePerry2012 2 years ago
Uhmmmmmm..... I get about 3-5 hours of sleep a night. I'm super tires for the first 2 hours I wake up... but then I'm good.... no other effect really.... but I am a college student.....
buccigami777 2 years ago
Wow....i have no idea how you function on such little sleep. I would die!
BusanKevin 2 years ago
Haha its your fault! Just kidding... But I do watch YouTube videos unitil like 3 am.. which Is what I'm doing now.... But sometimes I super hibernate, like when I get a saturday or sunday off of work.. that once every 2 weeks or so .....
buccigami777 2 years ago
i average less than 5 hours of sleep,,every night,(which is why i have dark circles under my eyes!!). i spend about 2 hours working out(rpm and body pump) daily and work the wee hours of the morning as a merchandiser, plus go to pharmacy school full time.......yet i dont sleep much...hmmmmm!!!! btw i am 46 years of age...
thechoos 2 years ago
I sleep for about 5 and a half hours a day. When i wake up in the morning it feels so horrible, but i noticed even if i got to sleep early i just dont like waking up in general. Overall though 5.5 hours a day for me is enough for me.
ZebraPrintx3 2 years ago
Yea I get about 5-6 hours during the week. Then on the weekends I sleep all morning. (But I dont get to sleep till much later) all in all about 40 hours a week. Not too bad. If I dont get sleep and I am at my main work place, I pretend to study Japanese (I try to) and fall asleep while thinking about the answer. At my schools when I am tired I sleep between classes like the other teachers ^^ power naps man! power naps!
mostawesomestjes 2 years ago
Around 5-6 hours is about average for me. But with school coming to an end for the holidays, I should have much more time to sleep. Although I most likely will being seeing some family friends instead of sleeping. Great video btw. 5 starz
MrPinapple 2 years ago

I suck..
WaterBottleAddiction 2 years ago
About 6 or 7 hours, but fairly often only 5. I drink coffee once or twice a week, usually on weekend mornings. Which I've only started doing the last few years, so its works pretty good for me : )
MicknFumi 2 years ago
I'll usually pass out around midnight or one in the morning and usually get five or six hours of sleep.
Haru322 2 years ago
For me, 6.5 to 7 hours seems to be best, though I always think I want 8. On the rare occasions that Nina let's me sleep past 6:00 in the morning, and I can get 8 hours sleep, though, I always feel sleepy, so I think it's too much. 6 hours here and there is OK, but for me, 6 hours night after night is not enough and I get worn down.
Good job on the running, BTW. With the excersice, I'd recommend you aim for at least 7 hours a night.
geofg 2 years ago
I know. Ideally that is what I gun for. Normally though, after a lot of exercise, I tend to have a deeper and more satisfying sleep :)
BusanKevin 2 years ago
About 8 hours average. Weekends a lil less coz I gotta go volunteering.
Mafiadaughter 2 years ago
Well, for days when I have to get up early, usually about 7-8 hours of sleep, and for days when I don't have to get up early, usually 9-10 hours of sleep.

Like 4 to 5 hours of sleep...IM not supposed to have coffe soo i drag the next day.
Kuuki1991 2 years ago
8 hours average a night. Although I find myself getting extremely tired during the afternoon sometime around sunset. Being a teenager, our circadium rythms get completely loopy and different from adults and children. Oh well :P More sleep is nice.
McNeatoSan 2 years ago
I usually get about 5 to 6 hours. sometimes 4,
On a weekend I get from 6-8 hours...sometimes more if I'm really tired.
When I don't sleep enough, sometimes I find my self a bit more alert but I guess thats just me trying so hard to stay awake haha
We should sleep more! Some side effects of lack of sleep are:
Fatigue, dizziness, mood swings, weight gain, blurred vision, unable to focus, slurred speaking and its not good for the heart.
Soo, everyone, get more sleeep and be happy! :)

when I have free, sometimes I sleep 10 or 11 hours, when I work I need 8-9 hours, 7 hours are too less for my body
qendu 2 years ago
I'm 23 but I'm kinda of a late bloomer so I'm still in that between teenage and adult stage of life so I tend to need 9-11, I have actually slept over 12 hours when I didn't have a morning class in college
EzKitty 2 years ago
You know, I read that college students only get about 6 hours of sleep, on average. I also find it interesting that it mentioned college students go to bed around 2 a.m., and wake up at 8 a.m.

I usually get 6 to 8 hours a weekday, 8 to 9 on weekends.
I cannot get up unless I have at least 6 hours of sleep, and on that, I am pretty useless... I've been getting more sleep this semester and feel great, haven't even got sick yet!
kidmecha 2 years ago
I envy the amount of sleep you get on the weekends!
BusanKevin 2 years ago
I go from terrible (1-4 hrs per night), to poor (4-6hrs), to good (8-10), to too much (10-12), just depending on stress levels and whatnot. Days I'm feeling the best I've usually slept 9 hours. If I sleep more than that, I know my body's trying to make up for lost time.
When I don't sleep well, the biggest problem I have is feeling exhausted and like I can't think straight. I also will sometimes feel like I've been sleep-walking the whole day. Fun times, man, fun times. XD
moonspire 2 years ago
I need atleast 8 hours of sleep to function anywhere near normally the next day. During the week I try to sleep 8-9 hours and on weekends I sleep the required 10 hours atleast (the amount I need to not feel super tired when I have to get up). If I sleep too little I get irritated, my eyes don't focus, I'm sleepy and just want to lay down.
Sleep is my best friend. I love sleeping :)

5-6 usually.
Currently on baby duties so probably closer to 5. Outcomes vary but some weeks I just constantly feel tired and live off of Ripobitan.
By the way, check out when I am posting this comment...

Wow... I am apparently sleep-deprived. Granted, I also have no circadium rhythm whatsoever, so maybe I can balance myself out some time.
On weekdays, 5-6 hours, but sometimes less. :/
Then on weekends I relapse into narcolepsy, with probably about 12 hours a day. Haha.
College sucks, and coffee is indeed my best friend. :P

Not good.

bundangbear 2 years ago
I always try to schedule my day so that I get at LEAST 7 hours a night, sometimes i get up to 10 hours on a really good night, but if i get too much sleep I find it gets harder to get up in the mornings so i try to keep it down. If I get any less than 7 hours I'll just be a bit antisocial the next day and will find it more difficult to hold a decent conversation with anyone. My sleep is important!

I would probably sleep around 9-10 hours every night if I could. Unfortunately, I've been getting exceedingly good at not sleep all that much. Not that I don't feel like crap the next day.
furetosan 2 years ago
I like at least 8 to 9 hours. I can get by on less but I don't feel my best. Since I've been in Japan I've picked up the Japanese habit of napping on trains which I don't really think is particularly healthy.

I get WAY too much sleep, like 10-12 hours. Its mad! Though about a year ago I suffered from insomnia where I slept like a few hours every couple of days etc so I like to think I'm catching up on that ;) lol
