Well it was kinda like God of war but it wasnt really that great.....I know some changes had to be made.....but it did no justice, and may have even disgraced the poem it was based upon ("TheDivine Comedy" chapter : Dantes Inferno) I reckon EA missed a good chance to create a very unique, beautiful but still fun and badass game....something that could have been considered gaming art....instead they made a God of war knockoff...o_o

I'm one of those gamers that... sometimes misses things. Like the Divine Armour. I spent all my time leveling up my abilites and, proabably because it was 2am, I purchased the upgrade and immeadiately forgot about it and slogged through the rest of the game without ever using Divine Armour. Lucifer was the problem you see; took off too much damage. Went into the inventory to look at relics and in the upgrades screen: 'I have Divine Armour!!!! Son of a...!' Would have made the game easier...

game was amazing and beat it several times. just wish they had achievments for the level of difficulty. for there werent really a incentive to beat it on anything higher than classic. still one amazing game and i really would like to play another one if it comes out

@jair333 ok its not really lengthy its about 6 hours long give an hour or so. but i had a great time playing it 3 times over and stopped in the middle of the 4th. the modes of difficulty make no difference story wise nor dose that path you choose. however there is a level/challenge editting mode on the market place called Trials of saint lucia. in my opinion id buy it cause of the story( i personally like the heaven and hell story) and its easy pick up and slasher when your bored.

I'm not saying they didn't take or use ideas or gameplay from GoW, but come on. They're two entirely different stories, with different characters, different weapons. It's not like they're trying to "cheat" you out of the game by making controls similar. I'd hardly call this game a rip off. Although, it does technically fit the definition of a "rip off": "Something, such as a film or story, that is clearly imitative of or based on something else."

Dantes inferno was originally a poem written by Dante Alighieri the poems original name was ''Inferno'' Dantes inferno and GoW have different main ideas different plots and different story line everything is different. GoW Ur a Greek god of war yet GoW 2 & 3 hes not a god and Dantes inferno your a knight fighting in the holy war and go to hell to save your wife a.k.a Beatrice (GoW has to do with Greek mythology and Dantes inferno has to do with the Holy wars and Christianity)

First off, the combat styles aren't the same, you don't get to 'Punish' or 'Absolve' people in GoW, and DI has a better storyline imo.. and I hope there is a sequel..

@MrJerkkeri it's not as good as god of war 3, and towards the end u will struggle to stay with it cos it starts to get a bit rushed, but the mechanics r mostly pretty good.

This may be fun but the book is great, a little freaky but great. I am not sure if this is anything like it though, because the book is about Dante, a poem writer, who travels though the 9 circles of hell to be let through to heaven. The universal theme is how he starts to lose his ability to empathize. And I found my self, too, losing that ability as I continued through the visualized written torture.
Everyone does realize that Dante's Inferno was a book that was started in 1308 and then was finished in 1321. So all of you saying that it copied the story of god of war are completely stupid.
@WTFn00b1 As far as I know, the book did not depict Dante obtaining an every increasingly potent array of weapons with which to slay an ever increasingly potent array of devils and demons.
The game, as good as it is, most definitely has taken large cues from GoW.

this game is not a rip-off of GoW. Dante's Inferno is based off the poem a "Divine Comedy" which was written by Dante Alighieri in the early 1300s about his fictional travels through hell, purgatory, and heaven. The stories and poems have been around for hundreds of years and now with technology something thought to make a game out of it, which is great, because the game is very good.

i like GoW but inferno is also good...the only bad thing with dantes Inferno,is that u play with religion (cristianism)that it sould never happen couse god is watching us...Oh,and those games have to to with the greek mythology and history...u see visantium was a greek society and greek people ask for hep from western countries to regain their land from turks and arabs...no words for GOW full of grteek mythology!!!

I'm not saying they didn't take or use ideas or gameplay from GoW, but come on. They're two entirely different stories, with different characters, different weapons. It's not like they're trying to "cheat" you out of the game by making controls similar. I'd hardly call this game a rip off. Although, it does technically fit the definition of a "rip off": "Something, such as a film or story, that is clearly imitative of or based on something else."

not for sure how it is a rip off, just cause it has the same kind of gameplay? if you are talkin story, which would make no sense anyway, then gow would be the rip off cause i think dantes inferno has been around just a lil longer. but if you mean gameplay then that means every single first person shooter would be a rip off of the 1st one ever made

@TheMrjerk123 i dont think it works like that. you just dont throw out a game cause another game is hyped and people dont want to wait for it. games take alot of planning. this game was probably in development when GoW 2 came out. besides did the GoW developers pay you to go around and complain on all the DI trailers that its a rip off. GoW is good but dantes story i believe is better it just intriegues me more than GoWs.

They planned a long time to make it the dominant action/fighting game on the console, they weren't expecting so many GoW fanboys to get so much sand in their vaginas over controls. Would you even like DI better if the controls were completely different and weird like using X for grab or some shit? They used similar controls, big deal. Dantes inferno was originally a poem written by Dante Alighieri the poems original name was ''Inferno'' Dantes inferno and GoW have different main ideas different plots and different story line everything is different. GoW Ur a Greek god of war yet GoW 2 & 3 hes not a god and Dantes inferno your a knight fighting in the holy war and go to hell to save your wife a.k.a Beatrice (GoW has to do with Greek mythology and Dantes inferno has to do with the Holy wars and Christianity)

Imo, I think this is better than GoW.. and why are people bitching about it being like GoW? Its nothing like GoW.
First off, the combat styles aren't the same, you don't get to 'Punish' or 'Absolve' people in GoW, and DI has a better storyline imo.. and I hope there is a sequel..
This is NOT a rip-off to GoW.. but I love both though, no matter what.

I would not say loosely if you had to open treasure chests with R1, had a bow and arrow along with a meter, had the same weapon type, had wings that you could fly around on, were fighting greek gods or any other "god", and had the exact, EXACT same sequence types. This game loosely borrowed GoW mechanics and improved on them to fit their game. I would definately not say "exactly the same"

Looking past the liberties that were made, this game was a great adaptation of the poem...best version of Dante's Hell we'll probably ever see, and I, for one, am glad I saw it (three times...that's how much I loved it).

This may be fun but the book is great, a little freaky but great. I am not sure if this is anything like it though, because the book is about Dante, a poem writer, who travels though the 9 circles of hell to be let through to heaven. The universal theme is how he starts to lose his ability to empathize. And I found my self, too, losing that ability as I continued through the visualized written torture.

@WTFn00b1 As far as I know, the book did not depict Dante obtaining an every increasingly potent array of weapons with which to slay an ever increasingly potent array of devils and demons.
The game, as good as it is, most definitely has taken large cues from GoW.
