why does it stop ?? whats the physics behind that ? , is the force bieng used up every time it passes from ball to ball or it stops becoz of gravity ? or does it stop because of its inertia !
i think it must be all three of above !! please tel ???
@shumazo the reason it stops is because of inertia and friction, which are similar. but it will tick for a long time because only little bits of inertia and friction are being acted upon the newtons cradle at a time
So we normally open one present on Christmas Eve night, but I begged we mom to let us open another, and when she gave in, this exact same newton's cradle was my second :P
@iownudie108 yes theoretically the only reason it stops here on earth is because of air resistance so in space free of air and other drag, while still being gravitionally pulled by earth it would go on forever

Dude...this was the most action, bloody, intense, blood rushing video i have ever seen...good job!

To make this you need:
Equal parts conservation of momentum and conservation of energy.
One part friction.
And a dash of gravity.

how much do they cost

@shumazo Its stops because of air friction.

@XXSongohan air friction is negligible comparing to the amount of energy that is converted into sound

dose it work for longer in vacum?

@iownudie108
yeah, They work for ages in a vacuum, We got bored one day at the lab and put one in our vacuum chamber. Lasted for at least 10 mins xD

just wonderin.. is that gonna tick for ever if u let it there?
gene8lios0 3 months ago
@gene8lios0 It goes for a while but eventually it does stop
IncredibleScience 3 months ago
@gene8lios0 No as friction does not permit the the perfect transformation of potential energy to kinetic energy.

@gene8lios0 it does not stop but there are some forces which makes it stop.
