  • Thanks for this great version of a great song - do you have music or tabs - or know where I can buy/access it? Thanks again DI Melbourne

  • Good playing by Wald. Is he using an Ibanez guitar? I discovered on youtube another Jean .Bosco, a guitarist and singer. If you use the following search words you will be able to listen to him. To watch and listen to his clip use the words PRAISE NIGHT - JOHN BOSCO & JAMI . Copy and paste them into youtube search bar , and paste and send them to see and listen to the other Jean Bosco.

  • @simenyasikhulu It is a Gibson J-45, from 1949.

  • I first heard this song in 1962 and instantly fell in love with it. Now, after all this time, I know what Masanga means! :)

This is a beautiful rendition - sensitive and accomplished. Well done!

  • Hmm I play this song with the capo at the 5th fret because my guitar book said that Jean-Bosco Mwenda plays it in that key, but I think it sounds pretty capoed at the 4th fret too....

  • Thanks for the great video! I've been wanting to learn this for years. This is such a wonderful and faithful version and your finger work is very easy to see and follow.

  • Fantastic version man! Cant believe you got to study with the guy himself!!!

  • Great work on this beautiful piece. I absolutely loved your DVD lesson for the guitar of Joseph Spence. Any chance you would be so kind as to post a video lesson for this? In the meantime, I will start trying to figure it out myself. And if you are ever in Israel, I know of a number of places and festivals where the crowd would be extremely appreciative. Take care, and thanks again for the musical education, Ami

  • This song is called "masanga djiya" which means "at the cross road" and not masanga the beer in Lingala. And it is really about beer too. Someone (certainly Bosco Himself) forgot to go home maybe because he is too drunk and staying with a woman with a lovely long neck who wears "jibula or gikinta" and "mabaya". You need to be a Congolese from Lubumbashi/Likasi to understand the hidden meaning of the song. This is one of my favorite guitar piece. Well done sir, you sing Kiswahili well!

  • Many thanks for the explanations/corrections. The crazy thing is that the explanation I give in the video is what Bosco himself told me... but yours certainly makes more sense.

  • Thank you so much for your passion.

You are a real fan, music lover.

    Kankamana mtoto wa mama!

  • oh I loove it , I loove it - especially the intro , you can hear Nico, Franco and Papa Noel among others ...asante , asante sana Elijah

  • The Song was sang in Swahili. It was and still is very popular in Kenya. Jean- Bosco, like many Congolese artists, was loved in Kenya and Africa as whole.

  • You are an amazing guitar player...coup de chapeau...I
