  • I have a question. I just bought some coconut oil and rosemary oil. Can they be combined and even whipped a little w/ out the shea butter??

  • im from stl too!

  • WELL I MADE YOUR SHEA BUTTER AND COCONUT OIL MOISTURIZER, IT TURN OUT OKAY. I HAVE NOT TRIED IT ON MY HAIR YET. IM WAITING ON IT TO COME OUT THE REFRIG. I ALSO ADDED VEGETABLE GLYCERIN, ALOE VERA JUICE, AND DISTILLED WATER TO IT TOO. IS THIS A PRODUCT THAT NEED TO STAY COLD OR CAN IT STAY IN THE BATHROOM. I BEEN NATURAL GOING ON FIVE YEAR AND LOVE IT. I HAD TO START OVER BECAUSE THOSE DAMN BRAIDS FROM THE AFRICAN SHOP TORN MY HEAD UP... PATCHES EVERY WHERE..LOL... BACK TO THE TINY AFRO..THANKS

  • your supposed to whip it when it solidifies a little bit.

  • you are so fun! i love your personality!

  • I liked how you added that 'Jesus loves you.'

  • u r cute

  • ur cute lol..i'm gonna try this out today and hopefully post a vid :) thank you for the idea!

  • thanks a bunch. i was looking for away to get that same texture without the hand mixer.

  • hey i stay in stl too. im going to go to that store this weekend.

  • lmao i think ur suppose use the mixer when its thick ex pour the coconut oil shea butter and all ur other oils then whip it

  • Shea butter and coconut oil mixes better than any other oil. just stir together becomes whipped. no need for a blender.

  • For the whipping to be successful you may need to get the oil cooler. Also you would need to whipp on high for at least twenty minutes or so. I usually put 1 part coconut oil and another oil like Olive for every two parts Shea Butter.

  • Does your Shea grow your hair and clear up your skin?

  • @MissNaturallyFree I love shea butter for my hair and body, but not my face. I noticed that I actually broke out with shea butter on my face. I'm not allergic or anything, I just think that the butter is a lil too heavy for my face and clogs my pores, which leads me to breakouts. It's really all trial and error, because what backfires on me can work wonders for you lol. I personally LOVE extra virgin olive oil for my face. Many acne prone people thrive with evoo. So give that a try!

  • @hellokittycutie2003 I use Coconut Oil on my face in the Winter. I do use a dab of my Hand Whipped Shea Butter on my face sometimes right after I use my Sugar Scrub just for the extra moisturization before applying my foundation. I've found that when I started making my own version of Shea butter, it doesn't break my skin out like the one you get right out of the container. I customize it and my customers love it.

  • Actually try not melting the butters, just do you percentage blend in a bowl and just commence to whipping. I think this is what your aiming for...good luck

  • Very talented and pretty lady you are! God bless!

  • oh okay thank you.

  • Jesus loves you and I love you too for posting this :)

  • i mean okay so once you wash your hair it is obviously dry so you have to mosturize it so could you do this with the unrefined coconut oil. because usually i would grease it with like the blue or green or coconut oil form of blue magic grease but i heard this was bad,so help me please.

  • Can you ise the coconout oil to mosturize your scalp like i mean putting it directly on the scalp like after washing my hair or anytime. if not what should i use and if not why cant i and if so are there any benefits of using the unrefined coconut oil? please help me.

  • @sallycooper54 :: I don't know the answer to your question. I don't oil my scalp in anyway.

  • @sallycooper54 I use the coconut oil on my scalp as a pre-poo (I had itchy scalp and this did a great job at getting rid of it). I did it on dry unwashed hair, I don't use shampoo I only cowash so after letting the oil sit on my scalp and hair for about 20-30 minutes I rinsed it out and then cowashed my hair. Works great with softening my hair and soothing my scalp.

  • @sallycooper54 Yes you can oil your scalp with coconut oil. My mom stopped using grease and pomade to oil her scalp 2 years ago. She replced it by using coconut oil and she went from neck length hair to a big bra strap length in 2 years. Of all the oils it's the only oil next to castor oil to accually grow and thicken your hair.

  • @sallycooper54 yes you can put it on your scalp and skin and also eat it.

  • @sallycooper54 Yes you can put this mix directly on your scalp (Scalp massages with coconut oil are good too) because these oils are 100 natural and are absorbed into the skin easily without clogging it. Coconut oil is also the only oil that actually penetrates the hair shaft so yea lol

  • @sallycooper54 I'm not sure if your question was answered yet, but yes coconut oil can be used on your scalp. I also like to use jojoba oil. I think its a lot lighter.

  • That was super fun to watch!! Awesome recovery BTW..did you pick up the 2nd Shea from the same store??

  • I wish we had an African store around here. I would go ALL the time,I swear.

The only thing we have here are those kind that sell cheap products from China.

  • lôl_í_fèÊl_sò_lÖNëlÿ_tõÐÅÿ

  • Did you know that Shea Butter is an off white not YELLOW... I know rt I didn't know either the Yellow stuff is called African Butter that comes from a different tree,,,check out shea butter 101on youtube

  • HOT!, but you could have got that same JuJu hair (or your favorite brand Remy Hair) at REMYMYHAIR oCOM for 80% off. RemyMyHair is a penny auction site where you bid on hair. It WORKS, same hair better price. (Twitter @RemyMyHair)

  • I. Have the same coconut oilbut mine is in a jar I bought it from PathMark

  • your supposed to melt the shea butter leave it out or put in frigde until it turns it into a creamy substance then one a creamy stubstance put the coconut milk and oils in and use the mixer to mix this is how you would create a shea butter & coconut milk whip

  • first the glass jar is better for the coconut oil...it perservesi better

and boiling the shea butter and coconu oil results in losing someof its nuriens for your hair

  • can you use this as a moistorizer for the scalp for example if i were to wear braids would it help?

  • @marneemarsan :: I wouldn't because it would be too thick and cause buildup over time. I use it on my hair only.

  • @glamazini thnx, so this would be used primarily to moisturize the hair, can it also be used for braid outs?

  • thanks

  • Comment removed

  • im thinking you was soppose to take the coconut oil and shea butter as a solid then mix it and you would have got a creamy mixture

  • What does your husband use it for???

  • @Hrtbrkr23 :: on his hair

  • @glamazini ok because my husband wanted to know I thought that maybe he used it on his skin or something my husband is completely BALD so it won't do him any good ....lol

  • @Hrtbrkr23 :: people use it on their skin to but I don't. If I were going to I'd do more shea butter than oil.

  • Your curls are really nice!

  • whipping melted oil... lol cute

  • You can get most natural hair products (essential/carrier oils, aloe juice, leave-ins, shampoos, etc) on iherb.com. Just got aloe juice from there. It's a really good website. This time of the year they also have great discount and they have a flat shipping rate of $4 but depending on the weight of your order, you might as little as $2 for shipping. Here is a coupon for you ladies and gents to use for $5 off: ARU392 (this is for first time orders). Many people can use it.

    Happy New Year 2011!!

  • It comes out nice if you dont melt it all the way and blend it for a while ive made batches it comes out really nice i just let the shea butter get soft not melted.

  • this is what I really want to make! I only had money to just by shea butter tho:/ I heard emu oil is good for hair and skin also.

  • Cool I use the same exact coconut oil

  • where do you get the coconut oil?

  • @brijaslamu i'm in melbourne and i have tried to find it for ages

  • i kno im so late and u probably know by now but the jar has refined coconut oil thats more so for food while the one u used was unrefined more so for hair and skin...coming from the spectrum website

  • Lol! Jesus loves me! Nice video!

  • I like that, who knows jesus loves me!

  • "who knows who knows? jesus loves me" lol ur hilarious love ur vid and personality!

  • "who knows jesus loves me" lol loved ur video do u think i could make it in the microwave or no?

  • @thegame245 yes very good for ur face

  • DON'T USE IT........! haHA

  • This products moisturizes the hands and legs as well.....not sure if its meant to be that way...but it really does work for dry skin.

  • Thank Thank i AM GOING TO GO DO THIS!!!!

  • I buy my shea butter online from a company in NY and their bulk prices are cheaper than what you pay for those tiny containers. Stop buying little containers of shea and buy it online. I buy a few pounds at a time. I also use emulsifying wax when I melt shea and coconut oil together. I just helps to meld everything together perfectly.

  • hey girl nice mix . let me help u with the whipping part dont melt it .just whip it room temp. it will whip up niceily.when i do melt my shea butter i do it like a double boiler. in a glass or metal bowl over a pot of boiling water. so it wont lose it properties

  • hey girl nice mix . let me help u with the whipping part dont melt it .just whip it room temp. it will whip up niceily.

  • hey girl nice mix . let me help u with the whipping part dont melt it .just whip it room temp. it will whip up niceily

  • Thank you for the vid and the heads up on the consistency. I bought my Coconut oil and Shea Butter and about to mix it. Cheers.

  • I'm from Jamaica--- that is some real coconut oil. And that's real Shea Butter the Ivory one-- unless they take the real one and dye it yellow to make it more marketable as people believe the yellow butter is the real Shea Butter.

  • I'm from Jamaica--- that is some real coconut oil.

  • it helps tanning right?

  • who knows jesus loves me lol, "dont blame me blame lisa lol

  • Wouldn't heating plastic (the spoon and the baggie mentioned in the comments below) defeat the purpose of organic and all natural seeing as the consensus is that heating plastic allows some of its chemicals to be released into food and other products.

  • Thank you for sharing that, you are so fun to watch, love your vids!!

  • I just watched a few of your vids for the 1st time. Enjoyed them! So, glad to see someone else experimenting like I did when I started mixing my shea. You said "Jesus loves me" ... I loved that! I also love how He made shea so resillient/forgiving as we find what recipe works for us! ;-)

  • You are so funny! "Jesus love's me! " LOL I love it!

  • Thanks Glamazini!!! Actually the peppermint smell doesn't last long after I put it on.

  • I've never heard of this b4..but I love it and I'm going out to buy some to make my own!! lol

  • I used your recipe for whipped shea butter today and it turned out great. I added some essential oils, but I think I went overboard with the peppermint. Can I melt some more shea butter to cut down the peppermint scent?

    Thanks!!!

  • @shortybang10 peppermint will take over with a drop. I have learned the the hard way lol. If you add more shea butter and coconut it will help lighten the scent, but unless you as a whole bucket of it the peppermint will stay the more dominant scent.

  • Have you found somewhere else to purchase your shea butter.? The "flea" market on St. Charles Rock Rd. by the metrolink sale it for $5. I believe the size is 16 oz. maybe more.

  • to melt my shea butter i usually put it (broken in chunks) in a sandwich baggy then sit the sandwich baggy in a bowl of warm water that way it is melted and doesn't lose its properties. but ur hair is long so u must be doing something right ;)

  • @deonnanaxoxo :: great idea thanks! i'll definitely try that next batch. i've gotten into not melting it of late but i still get some chunks and lumps so i'll definitely try your method. thanks!

    a warm balmy night.good video

  • "blame lisa" "who knows, Jesus loves me" *LOL* ur the best! very entertaining and informative! ;-)

  • you lose all the vitamine in the shea butter when you cook it .

  • @sindy3637 interesting. i've made 2 batches since then w/o melting.

  • @sindy3637 you sure ? isn't the double boiler method safe or boiling water putting a bowl in the water and then the shea butter to melt it ?

i really only heard microwaving removes nutrients please elaborate.

  • but if you cook the shea butter you lose all the vitamine on it !!

  • were do i get w/green oil thanks for the video

  • @santorieya I bought mine at Whole Foods

  • can i use coconut oil on my face?

  • @thegame245 I am not sure. Personally I love jojoba oil on my face.

  • @thegame245coconut oil is good for your face it works for me,it also makes your face smooth and supple.try it.

  • @lail111 well actually im using this glycolic acid moisturizer at the moment but who knows maybe in the future ill give it a try

  • @thegame245 if u can eat it, you can use it on your face. also, coconut oil is good for skin too.

  • @thegame245 yeah you can use it on your face don't apply to much though it can make it oily

  • @thegame245 : Eden Allure argan oil is best on my face, even 4 my oily skin. i luv it!

  • @VeryHappy2bMe oh okay cool

  • @VeryHappy2bMe : yes, i forgot to say it fights acne, and absorbs into the skin. Its not greasy like jojoba & coconut oil 'cause it goes into the skin like lotion, even tho it is oil. They will grease up ur pillowcases, but not argan oil. Argan oil is also good for the hair too as a leave-in. Please keep us posted, no matter which one u try next.

  • @VeryHappy2bMe : ye-ya, oh i forgot to say it fights acne, and absorbs into the skin. Its not greasy like jojoba & coconut oil 'cause it goes into the skin like lotion, even tho it is oil. I use coconut oil on hair the night before i wash to pre-condition, but thry will grease up ur pillowcases @ nite, but not argan oil. Argan oil is also good for the hair too as a leave-in. Please keep us posted, no matter which one u try next.

  • @thegame245 ABSOLUTELY! COCONUT OIL IS AMAZING FOR THE FACE ALONG WITH SHEA BUTTER! I use both and it has made my face absolutely soft and I dont require lotion anymore (and I used TONS every day and still, my face always had dead skin, especially around the nose). NOT NO MORE!

  • @thegame245

Yes you can, I had a bad spot on my arm from sun poisoning and I bought Pure Organic Coconut Oil and spread it on it and IT GOT BETTER it was amazing, I used on every part of my body head to toe!

  • @thegame245 Yes you can used coconut oil on your face. I am from west Africa and growing up, that was one of the thing my grand mother will put on us after we have showered with the black african soap. I later on continue this regiment and never have any skin problem so ever. African have been using coconut oil and shea butter for centuries all over their faces and bodies.

  • @verawill2 I'm from India & I too can vouch for this. I had severe (2nd degri) burns on my back when I was 11 (covring my back rt down almost 2 the hips), . My parents didn't take me 2 the doc but took a neighbor's word & applied a mix of coconut oil & lime water (the white chalky material that some builders use, & we Indians put it on Paan). It healed in 14 days in the hot humid weather of north Indian monsoon season & I have never had a scar, & within 3 months no one could tell it happened.

  • @thegame245 yes, you can use coconut oil on your face. i use it everyday. it's not too oily or greasy. love it!

  • I have that same brand of coconut oil!!! it is the best I have ever tried, even among other pure coconut oils. And it smells sooooo good!

  • You are such a pleasure to watch and listen. Thanks for the video.

  • Wow, I swear you shop 20 minutes away from me. I shop at the trader joe's over there on olive. lol.

  • Hi, i'm a bit confused here so please do correct me...how is this a moisturizer? The word moisture hints at e presense of water and you didn't add water...

  • Hi! we got various product benefited from virgin coconut oil. Do take time to view our product at - w w w . b i o - a s l i . c o m / ? i d = SULHAN (THIS IS NOT A SPAM)

  • I recently bought shea butter, it's the pure raw unrefined block version and it has an unusual smell. Is it normal and should I mix it with some other oils to give it a better smell? I already put some on my skin and now I have an unusual smell and I hope there's nothing wrong with it.

  • Hey Natural shea butter usally smells thats way. Theres nothing wrong with that, it jus means thats its the reall thing. I know this because I was born in West Africa and i have been using shea butter my entire life. U could mix with coconut oil if u like.

  • does the spectrum coconut oil smell like a cooking ingredient???? & do you use lavender oil & if so does it have a flowery scent??? i really need to know

  • I'm sorry, but did I hear you say " Sticks and twigs" were in your shea butter?? Um that should never be present...ever lol

  • @Desaundrea if it hasnt been filtered you can find all kinds of things in it, same with unfiltered honey. you have find parts of the honey comb and bee wings etc. just means it hasnt been filtered through.

  • your pretty and funny!

  • Have you made a video on how to make that water??

  • @sentara41 what water?

  • COOL

  • i would like to order the shea butter and coconut oil can you give me a address

  • @fruitacious IF YOU HAVE A FRESH AND EASY MARKET NEAR YOU SPECTRUM ORGANIC COCNUT OIL RUNS FOR ABOUT 6.95$ ITS REALLY GOOD STUFF HOPE THAT HELPS

  • Great video!! Where can I purchase wintergreen? Why did you add it to your mix? Is it a preservative? Thanks.

  • @MaryHiggs9618 I got my wintergreen from Wholefoods & added it for scent only.

  • Quick question...and you may have addressed this...I'm watching late...LOL! Anyway, do you use this moisturizer on wet or dry hair? Or both? Oh, and what are you're thoughts on adding jojoba and rosemary oil?

  • @jenkidsrus Hola, I use it on both & have been known to add other things. I use jojoba on my face so I say go for it, same with rosemary oil (use that in my spray bottle). You can also add olive oil, aloe, or any other natural "butter" like mango. The sky's the limit :) ... hope that helps

  • Thank you so much! Your hair videos are awesome! I'm transitioning, so your videos are helping me so much!

  • @natrlchallenge you're welcomed :)

  • Lol, you are too much fun. Great video and very informative.

  • @haslomcutie thanks :)

  • thank you for your video!

  • @TheMizGee you're welcomed :)

  • Okay so how many ounces of each would you say that you used that I may have a round about figure because I would like to try this

  • @everythingist007 Great question to which I do not know the exact answer (sowwy). I use approximately 25-30% oil and the rest shea butter so start with a small batch first, say 2 oz oil and 6 oz shea.

  • Thank you for sharing the dance video. It was beautiful.

  • @dimy2982 :)

  • @diazragu2010 I'm confused by your comment. Are you saying you don't understand how you can put something on both your hair AND your skin -or- are you saying you don't get people using shea butter on their hair?

  • if you want a whipped butter do not melt the ingredients just mix everything in a bowl and blend to your liking.

  • i apologize

  • lol, it's also EDIBLE!!

  • Can you use this on your skin? I usually just use pure coconut oil on my hair, but if I could combine coconut oil and shea butter on my skin without breaking out, I think that would be great.

  • @kragey yes, you can use it on your skin

  • Do you use on your hair or skin?

  • @Jolissa73 On my hair :)

  • You are funny...jesus loves me...too true sister.

  • "who cares? Jesus loves me." I love that. I think I'll use that. It's a good saying for the kids to hear. thanx

  • @tupacthedog haha me to

  • @KruBahbie bummer. yes i'm married.

  • @KruBahbie LOL, that's not nice. You shouldn't say things like that.

  • I did the same thing you did but when I let it sit out, it got hard, so idk what i did wrong

  • Do you ever put aloe vera gel in this moisturizer?

  • To make your hair product less runny you can add beeswax or emulsfying wax to it. I like adding honey to it too. Honey is an excellent mosturizer / attracts water to the hair.

  • I saw where you said you weren't sure about the mixing. Mixing is usually for when you leave the shea butter when it's solid. That's to make a cream. When melting it tends to be more of a grease so you really don't mix it.

  • I loved your website and I'm soooo glad you're on youtube!

  • I ordered the she butter, coco butter and black soap. i did exactly what u did but i just add olive oil to the mix. ty u so much for this vid. my skin feels so smooth and has a wonderful glow to it. I also use the mixture in my locs, wonderful wonderful. My hair is so conditioned, shiny and my scalp dont itch any more

  • thats pretty cool how you made that.

  • I just bought shea butter, black soap, and pure coco butter. It came in a big block. What can i do with it instead of melting it

  • did you try chopping off small portions for your usage? if its dirty you have to melt it to clean it ( you dont want mud, crud and hay in your hair) mix it up, and have fun!

  • How come some shea butter are yellow color and other are white (before you put other oils into it)?

  • Great questions. I believe that has to do with the actual shea nut the butter is made from. Typically shea butter is yellow to cream color. If it's white it's bleached or processed (doesn't mean it's bad, just bleached like white sugar is). I don't have a preference honestly.

  • The white shea butter is not bleach. I come from West Africa and in side the shea butter nuts is white or yellow. In East Africa the butter is White and yellow in Wast Africa.

  • @nightime1000 ~ ok, great to know! i always assumed that the really stark white ones were bleached some how...not the cream colors, but the gleaming white ones. thank you for the information.

  • It could be that it's refine...other concoctions in it when bought.. In addition, never put too many oils when your main ingredient is shea butter.

  • In east Africa the shea butter nut is white and West Africa is yellow. we grow Yellow shea butter in my country. Some tribes even eat it.

  • Hahahaha! Love it! You're so funny and easy to watch! Usually whip my shea butter first before adding any extra oils. I'll have to try this method, lol. :D

  • I tried your method (minus the whipping) and LOVED it. It turned out so creamy and smooth! When I would previously whip it, I would still have little itty bitty lumps of shea butter left over. So thumbs up for this method!

  • what do u use this for ?

  • I will be making this sometime soon. Great vid. Be blessed sister.

  • lmao "jesus love me" too cute. i laughed. i love coconut oil tho! best stuff ever!!

  • Very fun vid. Loved it.
