Haha. Listen. Being more agressive is one thing. But rushing to the net about every time you get an opportunity to is a completely different thing. Let's use last year's tourney at 02 in London as an example. Fed played increadibly well, and what he mainly did was to play really aggressive tennis FROM THE BASELINE, taking the ball extremely early, hitting a lot of winners. Go watch the highlights from his final against Nadal, and try telling me that's how Pete would have played..

@nouw23 6 year straight number 1 record. 286 weeks number 1 record, federer stuck on 285. 14 slams best player of his generation he faced them all lendl, wilander, mcenroe, edberg, becker, chang, courier, agassi, rafter, etc. he was the best of his time. sampras had all the weapons the only player to win slams in his teens, 20's and 30's and if ever wanted to make a comback he can win a slam in his 40's.

Let's face it, off the tennis court, Pete has NEVER done the kind of philanthropic work as Agassi has. Not even close. How about this for a speech, it tells a lot about what kind of a person Pete Sampras is, the emotions were too great to control there as he had to point out the role that his parents, coaches, his wife and all the fans had played in the whole story. He cried a lot of tears and we could cry with him, therefore it is a privilege to be a fan of him. I identify myself with him especially in his humility, he was not as much a sports champ made of steel, he was much more a human being full of emotions

Pete or Rod Laver are the best ever. John Mcenroe is also up there. They had serve and volley plus groundies. Federer and all the players now are strictly baseliner. That does not make for exciting tennis, especially on grass. finally, people are starting to think about the loss of the attacking game.

I cant say Pete is the greatest tennis player of all time as he did not win The French Open like Rod Laver who has won the Grand Slam on 2 occasions.But the fact is he has most major titles(14 in all) and I believe Pete was definitely the best ever serve and volleyer in tennis history.Anyone does not agree?

Pete Sampras is a tennis legend, but he also is an example of a great, great person, and as he said in his speech, he kept his values, his authenticity, his seriousness and humble approach, withstanding the "danger" of appearing as a "boring" player, through all his incredible career. I appreciate him today more than ever. Saying thanks to all his loved ones in his hall of fame speech, with tears in his eyes... wow.
