  • seeing a hand in a toilet made it more disturbing too

  • I don't mind his some of his movies White Ribbon is great but Hidden I hated, he comes across as an arrogant and obnoxious bigot that's in his movies also, funny games was ok, it didn't provoke me like he wanted it to

  • @JKfilms7, I think you just made his point.

  • I enjoy Haneke's films, but he's being a pretentious ass right here. Was that real money? Please tell me it wasn't.

  • The scene is similar to the one in Hitchcock's Psycho which broke the taboo on showing a toilet in the movies.

But this is still upsetting today because we have accepted the use of a toilet; but not the destruction of our sacred money!

  • This is ludicrous. Destroying money is basically donating money to state. By destroying paper money you practically make the currency more valuable, and the state is the sole printer of money...it is this simple. The scene did not disturb me a bit. It is such a cheap trick. very very lame.

  • @battailon Do you honestly think that they destroyed real money for the movie? Seriously?

"hmmm so should we print off a bunch of paper that looks like money or do you want to actually flush 40 grand in real dollars down an actual toilet?"

What do you think the answer to that question was when they were shooting the film?

  • @a3th3r who said they were destroying real money for the film? What is your developmental age? I am impressed that you can type.

  • @battailon your post makes absolutely no fucking sense unless you're assuming that the money is real. Or you just decided to start talking about the effects of destroying money despite the fact that no money is being destroyed. In either case you're a moron who does not understand the purpose of the scene or the meaning of the director's words..

You're really, really stupid kid. You should probably try to understand what you're talking about before you start spewing nonsense, fucking moron.

  • @battailon my IQ is above 150, you're a joke to me. I'm sure you think you're smart but you're not anywhere close to the level of intelligence required to even have any kind of meaningful communication with me, that's how much smarter than you I am. You don't know what you're saying and it's sad to watch your little malnourished brain trying to connect dots that don't exist. You're so stupid, you should probably hang yourself and do the world a favour by raising its average IQ. waste of skin

  • @a3th3r I was just trying to understand your question, sorry if my remarks hurt you...

  • @a3th3r people with an acclaimed IQ of over 150 usually don't brag about it. and they certainly wouldn't use it as a way of attacking someone else, even though that person might have been saying some less than smart things.

  • i disagree with what haneke is saying. we're disturbed by these scenes also because we know they are real, as opposed to the fake murder of the child. those are real fish dying out of water. not that i have anything against killing animals on film, but his argument that our society has become so desensitized is faulty

  • @dookula uhhh they aren't actually destroying money in the scene so what you're saying makes no sense and you obviously didn't listen to or understand a single word he said.

  • @a3th3r sigh. i had no means to know, and neither do you, based on this clip alone, whether or not the money in the film is real or not, and so, i did not comment on it. instead i commented on the fish, which look real enough to get a reaction out of me. but i don't feel anything for the family because my brain tells me they're just actors! how is that being desensitized, which is what haneke is saying we are?

  • @a3th3r if i saw a story on the news about a family who committed suicide under such horrible circumstances, of course i would be affected! i'm not desensitized, or at least not as much, as what haneke is saying!

  • The throwing of the money down the toilet was one of my favourite moments from the film...well it certainly made me smile.

  • These comments are inspired.

  • you read the things people write here and then you see the world is as bad asHaneke says it is.CANT WE GIVE A LITTLE KINDNESS TO OTHERS LIKE OURSELVES EVEN MOST WHENT tHEY ARE IN DISAGREEMENT>PEOPLEPLEASE SEE YOUSELF IN OTHERS>WE ARE DESTROYING EACH OTHER AND WOSENING OUR MINDs.HANEKE SHOWS US OURSELVES!!!!

  • formidable

  • NNNNNOOOOOO he thre away money

What's the problem? Were using euro's now.

    pffff.

  • I will refute Mr Haneke's point with one word: Cannibalism.

  • wat, why

  • Il a raison, c'est un tabou total.
