Thank you sooo much. I was watching this video one night and i was trying to figure out how to stop making my plane tip stall. And it turned out is was super tail heavy. So i made myself a balancer thigy, and my plane flys again. Flite Test ROCKS!!!!!!
I erm overlooked checking the cg on my jetiger, 1 min flight ended in a 70 mph nose in, doh, it was WAY nose heavy the elevator barely worked. Check your CG! good video guys, great infact!
Another great video! The only issues I wish mfr would fix is the they sale kits that when used with the required parts are not balanced! A good Pilot knows to check but a new green pilot thinks that if you open the box build the plane it's going to fly like you see in the videos.
Nice shorter intro guys :-) Big josh talks wayyyy to fast, sounds like he's got verbal diarrhea, an information volcano with no pause button and needs to pause for a breathe... Slow down josh, and please ditch the background drum loop :-)
I have a foamy, I balance, and it looks level, but the nose tend to go down. I have to give an up elevator to keep it level. I use trim. So that make my tail and elevator is not straight. Is that a sign of nose heavy? But on other instance, when it fly straight, the tail is not level with the nose. The nose is higher than the tail, why is that?
Lost my first plane due to heavy tail. When it crashed, found most of the fuel had leaked out and settled into the tail causing the tip stall and plane, a trainer, spiral into a tree.
just saying another tip from my dad whos a pilot, cg should roughly be around the thickest point of the wing on full sized aircraft and so far in my rc experience has worked out pretty good
@danny9599 works well with symmetrical wings and on Raf aerofoils and NACA 1, but asymmetrical, like on the P51 or Spitties and the high speed aerofoils like on jets (max chord at about 40% to 50%) and delta's need a tad more science or info from experienced flyers.
Great video guys! I just finished electricfying my Hanger 9 Corsair .60 and it was tail heavy of cours so ....I had to add over a pound of lead to the cowling! Keep these tips coming :)
Thanks this expaination has given me an idea of what i need to do to fly one of my planes. It is tail heavy and showed all the characteristics you said. I was always blaming it on it being the wings on the bottom but now i know! I will be trying to put weights in this plane. I also love your balancing rig, it will be my weekend project now.
I have been looking for ages now on how to ballance a 33 inch wing span cessna 182?

How do you tell where the cog is on the plane? (e.g. you said 25% back on the wing - how did you know that?)

Another good, informative video guys!
I bought a brand name CG balancer, to get my T-28 Trojan balanced.
I had an instructor from our club maiden, and trim the T-28 for me.
He commented that the CG was good during this flight test.
I used the recommended CG from the T-28's instruction manual.
He also recommended that I add spacers or small washers behind the engine mount to give more down and right force.
The T-28 had a tendancy to climb to the left when throttle was increased.

That yellow on the spinner and tail is UGLY, so does not look like a P-51 with that color!

I wasn't sure if they were joking or not, sorry, but I don't have #2 pencils, will it still work?

@iflybythebook2 to make it work you realy have to use #2 pencils :-)
wise20uk 1 year ago
@iflybythebook2 You can use any pencils with an eraser. Just make sure they're the same length.
