  • Love the Pie ...hate the Fox rock on

  • Saw Steve Marriot in a little upstairs bar in Myrtle Beach SC in 1983 for $4.50, he was drunk (everybody was) as hell, but best show I have ever seen.

  • Pete Still Tears It Up

  • Look its LIVE lol

  • It matters not that it was on FOX. If you use your brain you realize the people on FOX News are more liberal about everything and not the conservative mouth piece they are made out to by. I wouldn't watch it if it was on the cheesy blather called the Today Show or any other morning "news" program. This was on FOX so fnn what. get over it

  • Does somebody know if there was a concert with Peter Frampton and " clem " Clemson in 2011 for the 20 years after Steve death ? excuse my bad english I'm a poor french fan since 40 years...

  • Etait ce à l'occasion des 20 ans de la disparition de Steve ??????

  • I wonder why this was on fox

  • Twenty people in the audience...that must hurt after Comes Alive!!! Maybe word was out that Fox News were behind the event and everyone was walking past in protest...

  • R.I.P. Steve Marriott

  • Peter Rocks!

    Period!

    End of story!

  • This version has some creadability But not as ballsy as rockin the Fillmore miss Marriot

  • Who's john Mayer?

  • The Good old days.!!!

  • Frampton still plays with that great Marshall tone from late 60's and 70's.It gives me the chills,a Les Paul and a Marshall Plexi on 11!

  • I love this version...can hardly think of Frampton with out thinking of Humble Pie!!

  • JOHN MAYER BABY!!

  • This is probably the coolest thing to ever be on Fox News by a very large margin.

  • Peter is a really great guy on and off stage. And he's got the class and self-confidence to age gracefully without the need for flamboyant clothing and crazy hair. Man, all that concrete & glass must've made for some killer acoustics. Dumb ass host should've had the respect to wait 'til the song ended before walking in front of Pete like that.

  • Peter is a really great guy on and off stage. And he's got the class and self-confidence to age gracefully without the need for flamboyant clothing and crazy hair.

  • Terrific. Keep the torch burnin baby!

  • 3 of the greatest chords ever played in a rock song

  • peter frampton and humble pie rule! john mayer blows! now go away

  • @midatlanticcycle AMEN!!

  • hahahhahah @ ttraynor1

  • so far ive liked all the versions ive heard of this song, whether john, peter, or ray

  • If I had been driving by on the street and heard this, I would have parked in traffic and rocked out & moved into the crowd. WOW,

  • note the road crew blasting behind the amps at 0:27.....some things never change

  • John Mayer = apples

    Peter Frampton = oranges

    Why are they being compared?

  • @VicRoseMusic word

  • I miss Bob Mayo...

  • @wizman440 Hey there! I do to~Bob was only 54 years young (it makes me so sad to think about that) when he died. Peter still sounds amazing!! I'll always be a fan of his!!

  • The Yes Album opening tour; w/ Humble Pie as the headline act @ Shady Grove Music Fair, Maryland USA. Very early 70's. (12/17/71?) Around 9:30 p.m., Steve Marriot & Peter Frampton were just rocking the place with this song. But even more memorable was after the show ended- we all came out of the venue & discovered it had snowed heavily, covering all 5,000 cars in the parking lot. Strange things you still recall from your first concert....

  • Smoking hot. Imagine being one of those lucky saps who were just walking by and saw this show.

  • Where was this? It appears to be somewhere in New York City, maybe Park Ave.

    Jeff

  • U?... i 'm luvin' it too

  • at least FOX news is doing something right

  • at least fox news is goin something right

  • Never. Ever. Mention John Mayer's name again in conjunction with HP/Frampton. Sheeeesh. Candy-ass.

  • @ttraynor1 I actuslly prefer Mayer's version over this. The riff in Mayer/Scofield's is awesome. This sounds better as a blues song, not a rock song imo

  • @Danklin24 Fair enough..... I'll take a look. I am mainly commenting from the aspect that the women really seem like Mayer--and he'd be happy to tell the whole country about it! LOL And Humble P surely aint no "girl band". Plus, i don't care much for the blues.... I'm off to take a look.

  • @ttraynor1 Oh come on, Frampton Comes Alive is the album that created the modern music industry... He's awesome, but he's as bad of a sell out as Mayer. Lets just be happy there are a few sell outs out there, like those two, that still care about their craft. For Christ sakes, this video is on Fox News...

  • @ttraynor1 did your mother smoke a lot of crack? why are you hating on mayer? you seriously dont know shit about music?

  • @OMERTA011 No soul or pasion or fire. Another Clampton-wannabe guitar noodler/twiddler. Try Johnny Winter or Rory Gallagher or Frampton's original band with Steve Marriott. Do you know the name of that band? if ya want some of the real stuff--listen to those kats. You ever hear of them? Yes? No? if not: Git!

  • @ttraynor1 lol of course I heard of them.. and I listen to them. as well to eric gales, philip sayce, ronnie baker brooks, indigenous, and on the other side tal farlow, larry carlton, and wes montgomery just to name a few.. I know my music, the question was, do you know your music? It's like saying chaka khan is a shit singer, because shes an another aretha franklin-dinah washington-nina simone wannabe sinnger.. seriously dude. And you should acknowledge the complexity of johns music

  • @ttraynor1 you got that right!

  • @ttraynor1 AMEN!!

  • It was great to see Peter Frampton playing with Bob Mayo on this homage to the Humble Pie version of this Ray Charles tune. Peter and The Pie always rocked it and Peter still does!

  • Now that's the way to wake up in the morning! Frampton and a stack of Marshalls playing some Humble Pie. Better than caffeine!

  • groovy, Frampton rocks, maan...

  • I love Peter Frampton, but I wish he'd use more discerning judgment than to agree to be on these ridiculous faggy AM "news" shows, I mean pahhleezee, wtf are you thinking Peter?! This kind of programming cheapens good music & integrity.

  • df

  • rip dave

  • people got to work , damn my boss would not care that frampton came alive on the sidewalk ----- im sure there was at least 1 late for work rocker, thats the guy i feel bad for

  • To: carthsgt I normally don't wasted the time to respond to these coments but for you, I'll make an exception a guitar is nothing more that a box of wood, six strings & some cool electronices, if it were not for the tallent and soul of people like Peter Framton and some others. (Too many to count.) No need to hate. I hate that word

  • I hate Peter Frampton but this is a great advertisement for his signature Les Paul. That thing sounds awesome.

  • I cant believe there isn't a crap ton of people in the crowd???? this rock legend is jamming away and nobody cares? WTF If i had the chance id be there rockin my head and holding up my lighter!

  • Mindless idiots walking by Pure Sonic Greatness...I guess mindless idiots walked by Mozart, and Da Vinci

  • Man PF sure can rock!!

  • wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow

  • uauuuuuuuuuuu, it's only rock's

  • I've listened to Peter Frampton since he was with Humble Pie. This man still ROCKS like he did in the 70's!!!!!!!!!!! Love Him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @CinnamonPam Agreed, but, Steve Marriott gave it a slightly different feeling

  • How the hell john mayer is beeing mentioned on a Peter Frampton video?!

  • @PindamonhaMAN i think they are just comparing versions of the song. peter frampton is awesome. i like the the vocals in his version but i prefer the guitar of john mayer's version

  • @gunther2240 gotta listen to to original with humble pie

  • Damn. I wish I was walking down the street on this day. Are you kidding me. Frampton, Bob Mayo playing Humble Pie classic on the sidewalk. Those people should have been doing backflips. And PLEASE do not mention John Mayer and Peter Frampton in the same sentence ever again. Mayer couldn't carry Frampton's guitar case. RIP Bob Mayo and Steve Marriot.

  • OK....Here's the deal...everyone has their preference. MINE is rock OTHERS may be the blues. Ray Charles wrote this as a blues tune. Humble Pie recorded it as hard rock. Framptons vocals (to me) are better than Marriott's annoying screams. Frampton's guitar playing (although Mayer is awesome) is FAR superior. Let's see where he is after playing for 54 yrs! Frampton is a WAY underrated guitar player. Dont believe me? Go see him live NIOW..youll be blown away now! Better than ever!

  • Too much rock and no blues...I can't feel the soul in this one like I do in Mayer's Version..

  • @TheFifthTake That's because you don't know any better. Where's Mayer's Comes Alive? He's the best you got which isnt saying much. Mediocre dogshit pop fag.

  • @carlfia56 You judge him on his pop rock, I judge him on all three. I respect how he can switch between simple acoustic to pop to blues rock. He has soul in what he does..You just listen to his pop stuff and go..okay I don't like it..you should expand your music list more..but not enough that you get into Justine biber and dude gaga..we seriously don't need those guys, oh and I'm not the one who doesn't know any better, just the fact that you telling me what to listen to..your the one who don't.

  • @carlfia56 agreed!!

  • Fuckin'-A Now this is rock-n-roll baby!!!

  • I didn't realize Mayo's voice was so strong! But what the heck...a free Frampton concert and people walk by like he's hot dog vender.

  • @Chiangmai007 thanks for clarifying. I thought it was Bob. So miss Bob these days. Those two together were always one of those wonderful coincidences.

  • @ShadyPastel You bet! Mayo said it was an amazing experience to be a part of that history and to hear Peter say "Bob Mayo on the keyboards...." on such an iconic album. His death must have been so sad for Peter after all their collaboration. I caught the tour in '76 at the Milwaukee Summerfest...backing him up were Gary Wright, BTO and Cheap Trick.

  • @Chiangmai007 Lucky you, we recently got 45 mins in Brisbane Australia. Totally agree that Peter would be missing him. Rob Arthur is a great replacement though, you should hear Rob Arthur's album Anywhere But Home. Nice guy too, got to shake Rob's hand after the Brisbane concert.

  • He Stiiiiiiiiill Young !!! Hey close your eyes he play Gibson LesPaul Custom 3PU Black !!! He was super Hero and he still my Super Hero !!!

  • Okay. THE best version is on 'Performance: Rockin' The Fillmore', mistakes and all. As good as this is, it begs Steve Marriot's vocals.

  • sounds like humble pie to me ,dont get me wrong i like johns ver too, but this was done before mayer was in diapers

  • I love Frampton just as much as the next guy, but Mayer's version is absolutely better. This one may rock harder but Mayer keeps a Ray song bluesy

  • I Rock U rock We Rock

  • God, Mayer sucks. How can people compare his version to the Marriott/Frampton version?!! Jeez, come on everybody.

  • @tempofreak69

Off-topic -When you say that mayer sucks you are saying that John Scofield sucks because john scofield did the version that mayer plays, basically you are wrong, and no Mayer don´t suck, you should listen his blues stuff, you will be surprised.

On-topic - Allways as great Frampton.

  • So sad, he should have saved for his retirement or something. He is a leyend that ended up in a street corner singing for a dollar. I really hope that Mr. Frampton won't need any doctors because for what I can see he won't be able to afford it.

  • Peter Frampton ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!! How about the dude that posted that this is a close second to John Mayer. I know we like what we like and thats all good. But WTF!!!! dude. Its a shame that Frampton and Mariott never graced the stage again. Stranded on a island with a boombox and unlimited battery supplies . And a choice of 1 cd you could have. FRAMPTON COMES ALIVE !!!!

  • @antond139 He was our Hero and I bought Comes a live !!! He still amazing young and I Love his Gibson LesPaul Custom 3PU Black !!! He is not Legend and too fast.

    He is Active !!!

  • @antond139 the CD is good, but i have the vinyl, 10000 times better

  • @antond139 well john mayers cover is really good too. you should look it up :p

  • @antond139 I agree!! It took Humble Pie to bring an obscured Ray Charles song to the public and kicked ass in doing so! Mayer's version is okay, but when I here the song title I automatically think Humble Pie!!

  • @antond139 actually I prefer "Rockin the Filmore" or "Rock On" with me...:)

  • a little commercialized here, but nonetheless a great example why the Frampton/Mariott version of this song will ALWAYS be the best version, baring none..and with all due respect to Ray Charles. It's sad that Frampton and MAriott were collaberating on a new American LP in l991 just before Mariott died in his own house fire.

But that's how REAL rock and roll legends die.

  • @3Rubee this is a close second to the scofield/mayer version

  • missing the great Steve.

  • RIP Bob Mayo

  • This was written by Nick Ashford,as in Ashford and Simpson[Let's Go Get Stoned,Ain't no Mountain High Enough, too many Motown to mention.]Probably won't settle the Frampton/Mayer argument, but Ashford said he liked Ray Charles version best.

  • Comment removed

  • I was in New York last april, wish i'd seen Frampton,a true English legend.

  • wrong....a true legend period

  • damn PF.....always had it! im luv'n it!

  • Always good, how can ANYONE compare him to John Mayer. John Mayer's version will ALWAYS be a copy!

As NYVoice says our Pete is Rock Royalty.

Still I applaude John Mayer's taste to wanna do it.

    Just love it!

  • Who was it John Mayer copied exactly? I personally like Ray Charles's version over everyone's, but you can't say John Mayer and Peter Frampton weren't equally original in the way they did it. Neither sounds like the original.

  • Your right, Charles version is great. But as for ROCKIN! This on is IT.

  • @Sukainami scofield

  • Snare sounds great.

  • they've got enough gear up there to play an arena w/ 100 people in the audience, tops. And that's why I love rock 'n roll.

  • Bellissimo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • John Mayer's version was a billion times better...

    this was just a disapointment.

  • to me its both good..your dealing with two different styles here bro.

  • John Mayer simply covered the tune - these dudes ROCKED it, there's a difference between being a performig monkey and a virtuoso.

  • What are you, on helium? Mayer is OK but rather milktoast compared to true rock royalty. He steals every trick in the book, including that James Taylor-like crunching of the face. As for Frampton in NY, you notice how great the band is and yet NYers, true to form, simply go on their merry way. What a great place.

  • @xtremerthanu This is another version, man. If is a disapointment to you, then you know what to do.

  • Good to hear this again . .

  • go pete

  • Real rawk!

  • Love Frampton! Miss Marriott !

    Humble Pie-Rockin' The Filmore -classic!

  • All I need is a big fat nurse with great big tits to make me feel alright.

  • brilliant!!!!! , just a shame marriott is'nt there to shout and scream along

  • What a great clip! I remember taping the wrong fox channel, and having a great friend tape the right one and sharine with me :)

  • Jen, This would have to be 2002 or 2003. They played Fox and Friends in 2003. May even be one of the last shows in the US with Bob Mayo. That's like 6 or 7 am in NYC

    Doc:o)

  • Anybody know when this was from, year wise.
