It may well be that neither the existence nor the nonexistence of a god can be disproved. In that case you can freely choose to believe in any number (e.g. 0) of gods, but you ought to recognize others' right to a similar choice.

I see no connection with (a belief in) the existence of a god and morality or ethics: many god-believing societies engage in non-moral actions (e.g. slavery)

What would it take to prove that the theory of the existence of a God erroneous? Proving a theory correct is, ordinarily, impossible, and it's more fruitful to start from the other end.
