  • I absolutely hate the desert in EVERY zelda game that has it...

  • The mysteries of the sandy horizon...always keeps me wondering...

  • Imagine if you were in a room full of dead bodies that were murmuring incoherent words at you. That's why the robots are creepy.

  • I know I don't know why some people thought the robots were creepy? WTF?

  • I absolutely hate those electric sand hermit crabs that roll after you

  • @MrDarksword123 Not me, I just shield bash it, then slice them to ribbons.

  • @Homestar98 thanks for the advice, I didn't know you could shield bash those guys

  • @MrDarksword123 Glad to be of service.

  • @Homestar98 you could shield bash them?? Lol me I was just running around like a coward

  • @MrDarksword123 They aren't so bad once you get used to them. I play the game with no shields. You can lead them into a tree or wall, or sling them and slash them no problem. When they're in the sand and ur above, let them roll and hit the ledge, then jump attack or skyward strike them till they die. It's technoblins that messed me up. Once i learned you can knock them down for a finisher with a skyward strike, well i lost less hearts.

  • My favorite desert theme from any video game. I'd love to listen to this theme while actually walking through a desert and then hear the "past", version of this theme as I approach a small town or something like that. That would be so awesome:)

  • Every time I saw a tumbleweed, I started yelling 'TUMBLEWEED TUMBLEWEED I GOTTA CATCH IT!'

Everyone in my family looked at me like 'Problems, bro?'

  • @Mewquad oh wow dude. But considering you yelled it out loud instead of saying it in your head, your bound to have people look at you funny. No offense.

  • @777Rowen First off, I'm a girl, thank you very much. And yes, I knew that. I did it anyways because I was bored. My siblings just went ,"Lol." and my parents went, "....Eh?"

  • @Mewquad Lol my bad girl firend. XD I'm a girl too, but I chose a guy username cause I was board. XD any whoo, how far are you in the game? Oh and this is very randome, I wnat to hug my cat, and her name is Cheese :) No really it is cheese, we were going to name her feet cause she attacked peoples feet, but Cheese sounds so much cutter. Lol like Cheese from Fosters Homw for Imagainary Friends. XD I miss that old but funny show

  • @777Rowen I actually beat the game both times, Regular and Hero Mode. So....off to gather Gratitude Crystals, and the Hylian Shield, and all that other good chiz. :3

  • @Mewquad "off to gather Gratitude Crystals, and the Hylian Shield" Am I the only one who got it immediately after helping Lanayru? I mean, it obviously was necessary for Demise.

  • @Mewquad Awsome, hey I found a whole on top of the stem on the roof of the Lumpy Pumpkin. Is there a way to get in there? I've tried flying over it and land into it, but i can't seem to get in. Any suggestions? Or is there a point into getting into that whole? I hope so.

  • @Mewquad If it makes you feel better I laugh evilly when I get a tumbleweed going "Yesss...my precious tumbleweed I got you now!" and get weird looks from mine too.

  • Did anybody else want to see the huge robots that you can see at the beginning of the mine come to life?

  • The history of this place:

    -Water, robots, monsters

    -Sand, dead robots, electric monsters

-Water, Zoras, Hyrule castle, Canon ball, monsters.

  • Me: *walks into the desert* sweet, those snails should have tons of hearts on them

*Snail turns into electric fucking bowling ball*

    Me: Oh Shit!

  • @TrePk That annoying moment when you're on hero mode -.-'

  • i would love to see lanayru in its prime days without having to hit the timeshift stones lol

  • Lanayru Desert is for me an enigmatic place that makes you think, where is the water? It also makes me think, what happened here? what was here before we came. (althougt we get to know the thunder dragon had something to do herr)

  • 3 people fell in quicksand over and over again.

  • listen to the two themes together for epicness

  • @Koichiwaa Lol, same thing happened to me. The only reason I don't want to play Hero Mode is be cause of silent realms. =3

  • I know this is not original but: when first arrive there, did any of you were expecting say I don't know... A LOT OF WATER!

  • Favorite area in any Zelda game.

  • @Skaarjguy I thought Eldin was going to be harder, but Lanaryu really was the hardest for me too. I got stuck on the one with all the ghost. I got the last tear... And the I got caught by the ghost when I was runnig away. -_-

  • I tried to get a tumbleweed so I ran after it and it ran into a cactus and so did I

  • My Idea: just put all the timeshift stones in a big pile and whack 'em

  • (Spoiler Alert)

I hated Lanayru Desert all because of the stupid silent realm..

  • @2bricacity *spoilers*Lanayru's Silent realm was the hardest of them all. Oddly enough, Eldin's was the easiest for me. Did it in one try.

  • @Skaarjguy *spoilers* for you Eldin was the worst for me and skyloft being a close second

  • @Skaarjguy The exact opposite for me, Lanayru was the only one I made on the first try. Eldin on the second try, kept repeatedly miss the one in the glide slope. I guess it has a bit to do with luck, if you happen to take them in a good order or not the first try.

  • @Skaarjguy pretty much opposing my case,i went through this silent realm [and farore's] in one try, multiple times for din's

  • @2bricacity yeah i love the desert except for that, last month i was playing for like 4 hours a day then i got to that part and i got frustrated and i havent played since... great game though :D

  • Why would you catch Tumbleweed with a bug net? ._.

  • @Limelime99Zones You're kidding or what? There is like only 1 tumbleweed you can get in a tresaure chest, and you need like 20 of them to upgrade all your stuff. The only way to catch them is with the net of get one in a minigame, if you're lucky.

  • @GanonAkumaFan Yes, I know, but it seems werid catching tumbleweed with a /bug/ net. I think it would be better to run up to it and press A than to catch it with a bug net.

But hey, it's a video game so anything can happen u v u

  • @Limelime99Zones A bug net that is not only for bugs? And pressing A wouldn't be enough: it's motion gaming, after all.

  • @GanonAkumaFan I guess it could be like multi-purpose but y'know :U

I pictured that pressing A to a Tumbleweed will be just like picking up a bomb plant.

Oh wait- that wouldn't work xD Now that I think about it, how would you pull up the chart thing increasing by one if you put it away like a bomb? And also it's a small item so you have to have that jingle along with it. What was I thinking? xD

    Thank you.

  • As strange as it may be, this is one of my favorite areas in the Zelda series.

Also, the Timeshift Stone mechanic is awesome. It deserves its own game.

  • Good example what happends when there are no trees, even whit grass and all, theres nothing that keeps soil steady on ground, in the end grass and all die and land becomes desert.

But, when Link AGAIN traveled in time, does that mean he again created another reality or is this avoided whit these Time Stone having only small area of time effect?

Planting Seed of Tree of Life and saving Lanayru both seem time split situations, when also adding those small deeds.

  • Was stuck when I first came here untill I found the timeshift stone and the robot upgraded my beetle. I was like "ya now my beetle is a bomber jet :]"

  • This was by far the most tedious part of the game. So I hate this music.

  • @raneanubis Really? It was one of my favorite parts, but ok.

  • @raneanubis honestly i like this music.... hehe its sorta relaxing in some point hehehe

  • You know, I wonder if those robot things were created for digging, or actually evolved on their own. I mean, they seemed to have emotions and feelings, you know? It makes one think...

  • "The area is becoming dry, help keep Lanayru green." (This was on a sign in one of the generator areas) Well it seems like Lanayru didn't stay green after all.

  • The more I played this game, I noticed a ton of tie-ins and references to TP. Going back and playing TP, Skyward Sword clarifies a lot of the content in that game.

  • Even after you heal the Thunder Dragon, if you turn off the timeshift stone, he disappears!! Dragons are supposed to have eternal life in that game. 0_o

  • @ShojiNeko I thought about that too, but I think I've got the idea. They have eternal life like vampires do, they can still be killed but won't die from age. In the past he died from a sickness, thus his skeleton. When you heal him however, he is brought back to life. When you hit the timeshift stone he disappears not because he's dead, but after so many thousands of years, he's just in a difference place; why would he stay still that entire time?

  • @CozmikMonkey I do see logic in this idea, but what about the water dragon and the fire dragon? they've been in the same place for a long time.

  • @ShojiNeko Well, they never died right? The fire dragon seemed content to just stay in his pool of lava, but we have seen the water dragon in and about several areas of the game. Though they may have stayed in certain places in the short duration of Skyward Sword, who is to say they haven't moved around their respective habitats over thousands of years?

  • Its creepy that the robot skipper knows he is only functional becuase of the time shift stones lol

  • @cphipps79 Not saying I'm disagreeing with you, but why is that creepy?

  • @cphipps79 and why is he the only one who knows? I mean not even the thunder dragon knows.....it's.......it's just wierd

  • @Wolfspirit445 Others may know, they just might not have brought it up.

  • @XenavGamux point taken

  • Didn't like having to go into the desert, let alone twice

  • Not sure why, but each time i used other time stone, i felt that i "killed" those robot workers, each time i go there and use stones, i feel emotionaly sad :(

  • @CPPpotkustartti How can you NOT feel "Emotionally Sad"? Is there a such thing as "Physically sad"?

  • @CPPpotkustartti but they were rude as hell

  • I just noticed this, and I might be slow on this one, but if Nayru is the goddess fetured in this land, (AKA Silent Realm is Nayru's) the desert is named La "nayru"? Is this a mere coincidence?

  • @Soroxas98 Nah it's not, Faron Woods is derived from Farore, and Eldin volcano uses Din as part of its name.

  • I love how it's a desert in this game, but it's got a fricking lake in TP

  • @NOwikiaoasis granted there is a thousand or so year difference

  • @NOwikiaoasis AND it was a forest in the past! XD

  • This game made me more emotional then ANY other game I've played, even the other zelda games. There is just something so...

  • Comment removed

  • I had a love/hate relationship with the desert. LOVE the grass, HATE the quicksand.

  • this part of the game was sad cause those ancient people die after the time stone is deactivated really made me feel something and no game had done that b4

  • *hunting for Tumbleweed for upgrades*

    *tumbleweed appears*

    Getitgetitgetitgetitgetitgetit

    *tumbleweed hits wall*

    "awwwwwww"

  • @MultiAnimeFan98 Or you hear it at the last second and it hits a wall. =(

  • @burningthecake Sadly, yes. D=

  • @MultiAnimeFan98 I hated it so much. But I loved the area though, all is good.

  • @burningthecake Indeed, taking your first steps into a desert where you see the sun over a giant Hylian crest is really breathtaking. =)

  • @MultiAnimeFan98 I agree! Plus the whole timeshift stones make that area much more cooler.

  • @MultiAnimeFan98 The only moment that annoyed me in this game. :/

  • @MultiAnimeFan98 rofl getitgetitgetitgetit hehehehe

  • @MultiAnimeFan98 HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Oh that made my day..... :')

  • @MultiAnimeFan98 HAHA!!! Oh that made my day..... :')

  • @MultiAnimeFan98 *rolls into Ampilus*

    YOU BITCH Q_Q

  • @MultiAnimeFan98 Lol, every time I was off guard, tumbleweed would appear, so I ended up getting people to shout ‘tumbleweed’ every time one would appear. All you could hear from us was ‘TUMBLEWEED, TUMBLEWEED, TUMBLEWEED’

  • what about the version where you step into the circle with the crystal?

  • Love it!! Good relaxing music. Reminds me of a place far away.....

  • It took me forever just to kill a sand hermit crab thingy just to use it's shell. Then I realized I could've used Skyward Strike to simplify things. *Facepalm

  • @SushiBrawl Or shield bash

  • am i the only one who actually LOVES the lanayru desert? :)

  • @xlilBURGUNDYbabex Nope, it's my favourite of the three main areas.

  • @xlilBURGUNDYbabex - Nope, I love it more than you! :p

  • @xlilBURGUNDYbabex I'm married to the Lanayru Desert... The Ocean betrayed me... And I'M the FOOL... :(

  • I say it La-Nai-Roo

  • Fucking sand.

  • I've always said it 'Lah-nay-ru'...

  • Lol, I know i'm wrong, but i've always pronounced Lanayru: Lya-naru. I don't know why, but I can never seem to break the habbit. My friends get upset with me when I pronounce it like that, so I just say "The Desert" or "Nayru's Province" :P

  • How does one pronounce Lanayru? 'Lah-neh-roo'?

  • @PieStealer In your language, you should prononce it like this "Lei-neh-who" in japanese, it's most like La-neh-lu"

  • @PieStealer i say it la-ny-roo

  • The robots ran on energy given off by the spirit Lanayru. When Lanayru died the province decayed and without any energy to supply to the machinery including the people they all shutted down and deactivated. However Link's actions in the past saved Lanayru so it is possible that while it might take a good deal of time that Lanayru can restore the Province to what it once was by supplying electrical energy to the numerous machines in the region reactivating them.

  • @jmario2 why does lanaryu dissapears in the present?

  • @gryffolion95

Traveling the world? His bones are no longer there so he isn't dead anymore.

  • @jmario232

Too bad it will just get flooded in the end :P

  • @Friecelbu Assuming Link beats Ganon in Ocarina of Time. If not, then Hyrule isnt flooded, and the events of Links Awakening, Link to the Past, Legend of Zelda, and Adventure of Link occur.

  • @jmario232 But I wonder how Lake Hylia came to be if it was hundreds of years after the land was restored.

  • @Remoga2Sanctum since Lake Floria is next to Lanayru Desert, maybe some of the water flowed to Lanayru Desert and then Link and Zelda named the lake after the goddess Hylia

  • Comment removed

  • Nayru is the pretty one of the 3 goddesses with Din being sexy and Farore being cute. I really like the Goddesses/Oracles. They should appear more often in the series.

  • @jmario232 The Goddesses are not the same as the Oracles.

  • @Runscales what a shitty game to be reminded by when listening to such great music

  • I believe it's La-nay-ru in reference to the goddess of wisdom Nay-ru (i.e Nayru's wisdom)

  • Is this pronounced La-nay-ru or La-ni-ru?

  • Comment removed

  • @DevonSahara Idk. Personally I pronounce it La-na-yru

  • @DevonSahara 'Lah-Neigh-Rue' (from the Zelda Universe pronunciation guide).

  • This song make me remember Starfox Adventures. <3

  • The dude who came up with the timestone idea needs like a major raise. That was genius.

  • I HATE electric-based enemies!! Beamos, electric chuchus you name it. Imagine my horror towards the end of the game (don't wanna mention what exactly cause I don't wanna spoil anything)

  • @julieng3392 I KNOW!! Plus, I didn't think you could use the lightning as a Skyward Strike!

  • 3 people didn't activate the TimeShift Stone.

  • I dont know how i made it to lanayru sand sea without being struck in any dungeon, because I got struck in the forest temple when I played Ocarina of Time

  • i took so long trying to find the remote power nodes. anyone else?

  • Believe me on this. You do NOT want to be stuck in Lanayru Desert with only one heart.....

  • First time seeing Technoblins.

Me:OMG THEY LOOK LIKE BAD DISCO DANCERS.

  • ._. Lanayru being all dry and stuff was a "OMAGASH NO" moment. Where is the water that I am used to? T-T

  • It would be cool if Groose appeared throughout the game in each region, like he was traveling as you went (sort of like Gorko meeting you throughout the game?) and he helps you a bit throughout.

  • Centuries later a lake forms in the Lanayru province.

    What should we call it?

    LAKE GROOSE.

  • @MrQuickSqueez no i think the sand sea just filled up with water again

  • God, was I pissed when I realized there were timeshift sones after I pulled the damn cart across the place.

  • I can't help but get a Donkey Kong Country feeling from this? Anyone else get that?

  • @incrediblecaptain

I thought that the Imprisoned was just Demise's body, and not his soul (still capable of destroying the world though) And that his soul was always sealed in the Master Sword.

  • I was half expecting Groose to appear with a turban covering everything but his pompadour.

  • @MaxXMansilla Because He's the Hero of Time.

  • When I first heard this, I thought of the temple levels from Donkey Kong Country.

  • @Harmon2 Omg! Same here! I just made a comment, and saw yours! ^.^

  • @theowlsofouterheaven Yeah I know o3o it was one of my first impressions. (god I love the music here)

  • @Harmon2 I went there the other day again and it really reminded me of Donkey Kong Country, so I looked it up on YT. I really like the Earth Temple's music, well, basically the whole soundtrack! ^.^

  • Oh nevermind. Duh, I had them mixed up.

  • This donsnt sound right. Are you sure this isnt the past one again?

  • The only thing I hate (NO SPOILERS I HAVE JUST ONE FLAME!) are those Guardians in the Silent Realm. They scare the shit out of me. :(

  • To those confused about the Timeshift Stone effects and why Link can go in and out without any effect to himself...

I'd like to say that rather than an area where you TRAVEL back to time, Timeshift Stones bring objects into its past STATE. This explains why when you move an old minecart in the present, it stays in place when you activate a Timeshift Stone: it never moves, but you've simply brought it back into its previous state.

  • @YuTe3712 But why the does birds disappear when they go into the that area?

  • @Majorasword64 Because they did not exist back then. Because they were not yet existant in that time period, they simply disappear, than reappear when the Timeshift Stones deactivate. (The same way Hi-tech Bokoblins disappear when knocked out of the area, then reappear once the area encompasses them).

  • i love this theme

  • Skyward Sword: a barren and desolate land

OoT & TP: Lake Hylia something is not right....

  • In German the Desert named "Ranelle" :D

  • Is it just me, or did the ancient robots look really adorable?

  • This music always made me think of that episode of the Simpsons where Homer gets drunk at the chili cookoff and then has an acid trip/dream in the desert with the coyote. Good memories.

  • @siriusgray And that talking coyote was probably just that talking dog.

    "HEY HOMER. FIND YOUR SOULMATE!"

  • @siriusgray

I never even thought of that, but you know what? You're right! If I remember correctly, it wasn't really drunk, it was more eating too many "Guatemalan" insanity peppers.

But at the same time there was that part where they were so hot he dunked like 6 pitchers of beer on himself at the same time.

  • @TurquoiseStar17 That's right, the peppers! He must have been more than just wasted to have that dream but the beer probably played a role.

  • @siriusgray Your user name is awesome. :D Huge Happy Potter fan here.

  • @CaptainBasilisx1 Thanks! It's always great to meet a fellow fan.

  • @JuanDVene Gerudo Valley from Ocarina of Time, its epic legendary, the best.

  • @campeonazoo Mas o menos pa mi.

  • i i first came here, those helmets they wore reminded me of the one midna wore

  • Gerudo Valley is still the most epic desert theme, bar none

  • @Somakun67 I like Hidden Village more, but i think the desert from SS is great.

  • @Somakun67 Its pretty good. But I actually like this one more. Sounds more like an actual desert in my opinion

  • What I don't understand is how the past is more technologically advanced then the future is. I thought it was a translation mistake for half of the game.

  • @TheWolfBearer Look at the Mideast and North Africa, many of these lands where far more civilized/advanced just a few decades ago, then they are today.

Or how the South Europe went from the relatively civilized/advanced Roman Empire to the of the dark ages.

  • @TheWolfBearer It's based on the idea of an ancient, but highly technological society. Theoretically, you can wipe out the human race, except those of isolated areas, wait for about 2000 years, and that new generation could be less (or not at all) technological than today.
