  • The promotional value is great!!!!, to show how fast a GP really is, the little guys are going pretty fast compared to your general use boat. Maybe more of a handicap start. Great stuff, I would like to do this a San Diego Bayfair, Offshore vs. GP

  • The Hydro appears to be much faster than the other boats. Forget about turns or how long the race is. I love the sound of that very fast hydro and I'm a outboard guy.

  • They used to do match races like this in

NAmerica, and they were great!!!!......now we have politically correct racing that takes out the fun, but we can still enjoy this kind of fun without Obama thoughts, anyway.......!!! Life goes forward!!!

  • this is not f1

  • Theese tunnels are F2 boats with a almost standard 2,4 L Merc engine wih appx. 225 HP. No match for a Hydro plane......

  • All of you are idiots. This race is in New Zealand. I am extremely sure that Max Toler was not in this race

  • No telling where the boat builder/driver are from, but you bet the farm that bad ass big block spinnin 8 grand is pure fucking american!

  • There was a mixture of f1 and f2 boats, the front one was an f1 tunnel and it was not one of the fastest f1's

  • quebec huh lmao 10 beavers pissin on a frog should be the canadian flag

  • Tunnel boats sucks !!! We still have Grand Prix race in Valleyfield, Québec , Canada ...But they are mixed with Unlimited and Unlimited Light boats...

  • Those weren't top F1 boats. Seebold, Rinker or Fairchild would have easily beat the hydroplane. Those F1 boats in that video are old and not even used on the F1 tour for 3 or 4 years at least. Max Toler was the only recognizable boat there and he never won in the Chamboat series and quit 4 years ago.

  • Love the sound. Anyone remember the unlimited Hydroplane the U5 Candyman?

  • Its too damn bad they did away with the Grand Prix class in the US, i liked them better than the unlimited boats back in the day just because of that sweet big block sound

  • Amen brother, I hear ya!! I really miss em too.

  • What a delight to see and HEAR the sound of horsepower! Don't know whose goofy idea it was to add acid rock to hydroplane videos. All that does is chase viewers away.

  • Yes indeed melhibbard, yes indeed!

  • or f2's maybe

  • lol they look like f3's to me

  • That is pretty sweet. I love both boats. But if you added one right turn in their the F1 boats would win.

  • Talk about getting your ass handed to you. Those guys must have felt like they were tied to the dock when the Hydro went by. Thanks for not putting music in this video.

  • The race course greatly favored the big fat boat with the noisy car engine in it. F-1 boats usually race thru MUCH narrower corners, not big fat wide sweeping turns. If the course had ONE pin turns, the F-1 boats would eat that car engine powered boat alive!

But that was neat to see. Thanks for posting.

  • not really, the white (annihilator 2) boat set the best time around the wanganui river that year (it is only 60 metres wide.....) he beat out some very fast f1's. This year he was beaten by a f1 by just under 1 second.

  • No question the hydro had more power but... It only lasted 3 laps so that wasnt all that great

put a drag boat in there and he would have lapped em all the first lap too but then Pop! no engine LOL but loved the sound love that hydro

  • What a shock the dugout shat itself after 3 laps

  • nah man, nothing beats the sound of a 510ci V8 roaring around lake karapiro. A few years back i say 8 of those hydros line up for the world championships... what a sight on the rolling start.

  • I would love to know if anyone out in YouTube land would be nice and upload this year's races from San Diego,CA. I live in Nebraska now, and I am curious as to how D. Vilwock is doing now. If anyone has even some stuff from last year, please leave me a message. Thanks! Hydro's rule!!!

  • U cant compare F1 boat whit Hydroplanes its like F1 cars vs Top fuel :). F1 300hp va hydro 2.500hp, F1 140mph hydro 205mph.

  • That sure puts things in perspective! The F1 guys can run rite at 140pmh in the straightaways...theat Hydro is rollin'.

  • Nothing beats pure horse power. Hydros rule

  • If they would only do this at the Thunderboat Regatta held every September in Mission Bay, San Diego, CA USA....Now, that would be a show of true power!!! F1 vs. Hydro.

  • Nice sound in the hudroplane byt i like the turbine powerd better :)
