This style of architecture is necessary in the Arctic as the ground is generally perma frost so buildings in the arctic are built above the ground as one unit sharing a heating system generally. Try going to Anadyr, Chukotka, Russia - which is across from Alaska. Or go to Barrow, Alaska.
You cant own land in greenland, u just go to the officials and ask if you can build in a certain spot and if its in the plans that there is supposed to be a house there you can do it. If two or more want the same piece of land they make a lottery out of it. Not 100% incorruptible thereby... I had a great time there and I do recomend everyone to go there! Greenlandic people are probably the coolest and friendliest people ever!!

Having said that, I would visit Greenland in a heartbeat if I had the chance.

The rest of the town consist of small cozy houses and more modern buildings. Btw there´s no trees at all in Greenland apart from some small ones in the south.

japan makes all their money with tarrifs on their technology. they are mercantilistic. i think the reason so many americans do not go outside of the country is because its part of our culture. I may study abroad in england or germany but iam sure as hell not letting my siblings or other family members know until the day before i leave. so many people try to get in your way if you plan ahead here especially when your young. thats what prevented me countless times.

Good call...I've always wanted to visit Greenland over any of those overrated 'hot spots' any day! From what I can tell from these videos, Greenland looks like it can be a really fun place.
