i like fishing for carp just due to their size but, i could care less if they go away, bass are the real game fish. by shooting the big hogs, the carp population gets smaller and smaller and they become prey for bass and pike

Pawn shops. I just use my old deer hunting bow but took the weight way down and did all I could to slow down the string. If you get an AMS reel you can just throw it on your current deer bow and unscrew the reel for deer season.
