I remember getting an emergency management bulletin which is very rare in massachusetts and exciting just the same. I've lived there all 18 years of my life and only gotten that one. And im hoping to get it again for Irene :).

a.) it missed us entirely where I live, not a single freaking drop of rain that day.
b.) my boss brought a gun to work, I guess to deal with looters (despite the fact we were mostly in the clear by Friday morning) and ACCIDENTALLY FIRED IT. As you could imagine he was fired later that day by our district manager.
Lol i remember this.... I heard it was badd..... Just like the week before i was hit with tropical storm hannah...... it was fun to watch my chairs and table flip over my deck!!! weee!! XD... Srry to make it sound like a joke beacuse i know it isnt
Well, in a few hours Hurricane Alex will pass near where I'm at, but TWC won't play the Storm Alert Music. I guess they only play it when a cat 3 or higher storm is going to make a direct landfall on the US coast or the storm was a major hurricane at one point like Ike was.
Yeah. I live near the bay...kinda. 15-20 minutes from the seawall. We got blasted by wind....really bad. Couldnt live in my own home cause of collapsed sheet rock.
I remember before Ike hit, my mom and I went to her job in the galleria and stayed there until he passed over. I have never seen this much destruction ever.
That would be unnerving, you're right! Glad I live far enough inland ... only thing we really have to worry about with landfalling tropical storms/'canes is the spun off tornado in the rainbands. Thank God, Ike went further east than expected. Hope everything came out all right, not too much damage.
try being in louisiana where it actully hit

Wow... In Jackson Mississippi when Hurricane Katrina came, they played that song, and some song I think called batman? Lol.
Anyway, I'm glad they brought the theme back. :)

All Ike reminds me of is two things:
a.) it missed us entirely where I live, not a single freaking drop of rain that day.
b.) my boss brought a gun to work, I guess to deal with looters (despite the fact we were mostly in the clear by Friday morning) and ACCIDENTALLY FIRED IT. As you could imagine he was fired later that day by our district manager.
