Very good video! I was naive for most of my life until I started researching for my self. Victim of public education, you know "That evil South"; "Those evil Confederates"; evil Rebels"; and evil Southerners", etc.. Slavery was eventuality abolished, but only after the War of Northern Aggression. Time would changed peoples hearts and minds, slavery would have been abolished with modern progress anyway. I can't remember the English starting the Civil War the North did the Union occupied Fort Sumter which was in Southern territory provoking the South into attacking the fort.
South Carolina sold the property where Fort Sumter and Fort Moultrie stood to the federal government in the 1830's. South Carolina drafted the contract and signed the deed. So Major Anderson had every right to move his garrison from Moultrie to Sumter. Especially after South Carolina militia lined up batteries to threaten Moultrie.
The land and the forts were all owned by the federal government. They were paid for with taxes from all the states and manned by troops from all the states. Property law is one of the foundations of the U.S. constitution. South Carolina recongized the same property laws as the U.S. government. If South Carolina wanted the land back then they had to settle in a court but instead they attacked and occupied someone else's property, which is was and theft.

Whether or not Sherman had slaves is a very hard issue. Its still discussed to today their have been documents implying that while he lived in Lousiana he did own several. However its still un sure. Grant did infact own a slave but freed him in 1858. However his wife owned slaves until she was forced to free them. Robert E. Lee inherited slaves from a dead relative ( i believe it was his father im not sure though) However he freed them all and is known to be against slavery from several letters.
It's not a hard issue. Sherman never owned slaves in his entire life, and there are no documents "implying" to the contrary. Grant owned one slave, for one year, and freed him even though he really could have used the money from a sale. Lee was the executor of a plantation full of slaves, flat refused to free them, had them whipped and brined when they disobeyed them, kept them illegally PAST the five years authorized by the will, and freed them only on the eve of the second EP.

Very good video! I was naive for most of my life until I started researching for my self. Victim of public education, you know "That evil South"; "Those evil Confederates"; evil Rebels"; and evil Southerners", etc.. Slavery was eventuality abolished, but only after the War of Northern Aggression. Time would changed peoples hearts and minds, slavery would have been abolished with modern progress anyway. Truth be told, there where a lot of slave owners in the North, you can't change history.

slavery wasn't an issue,it couldn't be an issue,when Lincolns reconstruction created paramilitary groups that reigned in for the next 75+ years.Slavery couldn't be an issue when Blacks could not vote in any Northern State until the late 1960's,slavery couldn't be an issue when those freedom marches and the burnings in DC and Sears tower took place in the North,sure wasn't the Southern towns that were rioting near as much.Blacks in the south today are integrated better than in the North.

South Carolina sold the property where Fort Sumter and Fort Moultrie stood to the federal government in the 1830's. South Carolina drafted the contract and signed the deed. So Major Anderson had every right to move his garrison from Moultrie to Sumter. Especially after South Carolina militia lined up batteries to threaten Moultrie.

The land and the forts were all owned by the federal government. They were paid for with taxes from all the states and manned by troops from all the states. Property law is one of the foundations of the U.S. constitution. South Carolina recongized the same property laws as the U.S. government. If South Carolina wanted the land back then they had to settle in a court but instead they attacked and occupied someone else's property, which is was and theft.

By contrast, every single Southern state unconstitutionally seceded to preserve slavery until the end of time, then replaced it with 100 years of segregation (until Northern guns ended that, too). There's no comparison.

Actually Lincoln's EP made all the difference. It was without question, the big blow to the slave rapers and child selling South, from which they never recovered.
The EP destabilized the slave raping south. It caused England and France to back off. It caused Davis to try to "re-enslave" freed slaves.
Most of all, Lincoln's EP caused slaves to start leaving the plantations and slave farms -- which forced Confederate soldiers to desert to go home and grow food.

It was a great evil and needed to be abolished. The Republic worked and the South by accepting its place in the US was bound by the decision of the majority.

Whether or not Sherman had slaves is a very hard issue. Its still discussed to today their have been documents implying that while he lived in Lousiana he did own several. However its still un sure. Grant did infact own a slave but freed him in 1858. However his wife owned slaves until she was forced to free them. Robert E. Lee inherited slaves from a dead relative ( i believe it was his father im not sure though) However he freed them all and is known to be against slavery from several letters.

It's not a hard issue. Sherman never owned slaves in his entire life, and there are no documents "implying" to the contrary. Grant owned one slave, for one year, and freed him even though he really could have used the money from a sale. Lee was the executor of a plantation full of slaves, flat refused to free them, had them whipped and brined when they disobeyed them, kept them illegally PAST the five years authorized by the will, and freed them only on the eve of the second EP.
