As Brock looks up seeing Spiderman tearing off his suit (revealing his identity) a piece of the symbiote falls onto Eddie's hand. Symbiote bonds with Eddie because he has a hatred towards Spiderman, thus creating Venom.
Spiderman whom has a change of color in his suit (black) is not Venom. It's the symbiote that changes Eddie Brock, a former photographer who's live was ruined by Spiderman, who becomes Venom.
The director didnt even want venom in the movie. But he conceded because of the fans and it sucked.
