  • Superbe !

  • I LOVE KIRI .BUT I THINK THE MAESTRO GOES TO FAST-FOR A MELODY THATS HAVE TO DO DO WITH CALM ,REST SLEEP!!

  • Un timbre qui se prête bien à cet air, mais les aigus ne sont assez légers.

  • ok rendition

    not very sweet or virtuous

    but still very nice

  • Kiri is Kiri. Wonderful

  • Coincido, hay que escuchar a Lucia Popp, el aria está escrita para ella.

  • please listen to Lucia Popp for this aria!

  • @123belgian I was thinking the same thing. Lucia is absolutely wonderful, like Kiri. Like so many of these top singers, they bring their own styles. For the singing heart and floating sensation, go for Kiri. Her voice floats along like a balloon in the sky or a bubble in the water. Lucia has unmatched purity, cleanliness and perfection in her delivery. Both wonderful wonderful singers. I love them both.

  • mein gott! this is really painful, one has the feeling that he is going to hit her anytime! poor kiri, she is just perfect so that kept singing...

  • i don't get all of this analysis - lol - by such standards Dessay or Fleming should not be singing at all ... ok, maybe they shouldn't ...

still, why dissect a TV recording of a live performance to such detail ...?

  • what a pretty voice long live mozart

  • feels rushed.

  • WHat a treasure she's for Mozart and R Strauss..

  • i mean, besides stating the obvious, such as her voice, but whole her being and approach.

  • Voice of pure velvet and beauty to dream of. I make more mistakes in a day than Kiri makes in a whole career. Solti and Levine handle it without blinking. Brava!

  • Nice but listen to Lucia Popp!

  • Absolutely,

Nobody sings this music like Lucia Popp.

    Arkadiusz

  • Yes I agree absolutely

  • this was my answer to Timberfell123 (see below)

  • Pardon me for being slow (I really don't know)...but could someone tell me what her mistake was? I could see from her face during the 4:35-4:40 part that something's wrong - she had this 'oops' look on her face. But I still haven't figured out what. I'm sort of guessing that she forgot to sing the 2nd C before going off on the melisma?

  • She just lost few sixteenth notes before the phrase goes high......very well made-up. It didn't really break the construction of this piece. I think that's why they still published it.

  • Lol I wouldn't have noticed it unless I had the score in front of me! I always love her Mozart interpretations...she seems made for them. I wish I could sing Mozart as well as she does.

  • @damekirilover -- I love her too, but she made the same mistake TWICE! And both times she beat the orchestra and had to wait for them to catch up to her.

  • She confused the text in the two measures right before the melisma and then droopped a measure in the run. I'm impressed the orchestra and she kept it together by the next entrance!

  • She's so wonderful! ... but... 4:35-4:40... oups... ! A real soprano mistake ! Not a hint in her face! hahaha! Sounds like the OBOE made a mistake but NO it's her!

  • Look at her face right at the end, though. She was well aware of her mistake. I guarantee though, that nobody in the audience noticed.

  • Haha yes I know, we can see soprano terror in her eyes!

  • She recorded this a few years back in a compilation of Mozart arias...the recording has one fabulous performance after another.

  • I'm always amazed by her interpretation in Mozart's music! What a voice and what a magical atmospere.....so charming....

  • OMG the voice is just beautiful - so is the opening melody! =D

    I absolutely adore this performance!

  • wah, beautiful! Mozart!

  • One of the most beautiful arias ever. Dame te Kanawa excells in vocal agility, pureness of voice, intelligence in approaching the piece that easily becomes too ornamental. Te Kanawa has all the discipline and carachter to hold back when bravura tempts in this bravura aria.

  • amazing...
