I ordered a dollfie, a $20 one (not super dollfie, a regular one) . I already collect anime figurines, but I have a feeling that when I (finally) get my dollfie, I'm going to spend all my money on them.

You know BJD's in general remind me so much of Angelic Layer. Actually shortly after I was looking at cosplays of Angelic Layer someone mentioned their angel prop was an Obitsu....Now I'm a major BJD fan. I think Super Dollfies are beautiful and charming. But their too expensive.
But maybe one day I'll buy one. For now I'm happy with Obitsu's. (I don't own one yet...)
Anyone interested should look into the other asian BJD companies; all my dolls were reasonable priced and came from Korea and China has some great companies too!

i saw lots of Dollfie posts on Figure.fm...and wtf 300-500 pounds?! that's like $500-750 !!! i mean figmas that cost $25-$45 are kinda pricy already...but really ! That's kinda going far imo...
Fuck these. I only have $20 and the cheapest I can find is $150+. If I WANTED to spend more than $20 on these then I would have looked for dolls over $20, damnit. Not even google can find one in my price range.... T_T
@TheInunah Small dolls under 30cm are alot cheaper, such as $30 for an obitsu, or a volks for $40. But they're made and constructed differently, and don't have much stuff like clothes available for them.
Of course, that's just for the body. The vital extras like head, wig and then clothes will probably send it into $100+ range. I've paid £100 for my 27cm Obitsu to make her complete.

I collect some 1:6 figures which could be called dolls I understand why they collect but why such a creepy item. They have such realistic eyes but the rest of the anatomy and face is clearly stylized like a cartoon or manga or something. It clashes and looks weird.
Holy crap, I think dollfies are cool, but that last part with the chapel/ceremony/hotel kind of freaked me out. I think it's fine if you really admire their beauty and even make up stories/personalities for them, but you should still remembers that they're dolls, not humans.

I've been interested in these for years. Volks have some amazing dolls but I think they're a bit crazy, I'm only fourteen though and unable to purchase my own doll but when I get a job I definately will.
Though it's tempting to buy a resinsoul doll as they're so cheap.
Super Dollfie is the registered trademark of Volks, Japan. These dolls are getting more and more popular in US but people use more general term, the ball jointed dollsl (BJD).
I own a couple of BJDs that are from Korea and China thus far and hope to own the super dolfie from Volks, Japan someday, but I think Korean and Chinese make equally great dolls.
Honestly, when i started watching this i was thinking "this is the oddest and stupidest shit I've ever seen in my life..." But... then seeing those grown guys at the table started messing with their dolls... stroking there hair... and I realize... these dolls make these people happy... so yeah ... if you like this stuff, go ahead and get it and whatever...whom I am to say you shouldn't. There is now a huge worlwide following of bjd, where alot of people gather for conventions & meet-ups.. In USA, Australia, UK, Germany, ect. Their used for photography, modeling & artwork too, as they provide awesome character inspiration, even being featured in 2 Kerli music video's 'Tea Party' & 'Walking on air.' :D

Hey I'm saving money for my first Dollfie, and I don't know if I should get a good quality MSD or a bad quality SD... the difference is the MSD is more expensive...
I think you should get the doll that is the most attractive to you, and which you will surely love and which inspires you the most! :) It's not the price, it's what you like.
I'd say go for the one you love more. Even if the price is higher, you'll be glad you spent it later on. I have an MSD, and they're just as much fun as SDs. :3

I really like how this video shows owners and their love for their dolls. BJDs are really addictive, af first you would never expect yourself to own one, and after that you're ordering your first, and after that you just want to keep bringing more home. Most agreeable point is the pricing is a killer, but if you are motivated to get him/her, you'll actually take time and effort to save up. The ceremony wasn't really my thing, but I'm alright with birth certificates :)
i did born weird and happy to be. this ones have been an inspiration for me and the only thing i don't like is the fake fans who buy them just for their cost and momentum.

I've totally fallen in love with Japan, but I'm not the kind of girl who likes wearing over-the-top outfits and I'm not into cosplaying either. I do, however, like how the clothes look on manga characters, dolls etc. So for me, it's kind of an alter-ego thing. I like creating characters with interesting peronalities and styles but I myself am just a normal person. For people like me, the dolls provide an alternative universe. When real life gets tricky, it's nice to escape into the doll land.

Well I'm sure it doesn't matter what type the doll comes from, their still BJDs. And err, what they possibly meant by trouble was just incase someone steals it, or perhaps someone assumes they stole it in a super market, so you can avoid those in Karaoke places and perhaps other areas too.
Well what they mean by cause trouble is take up room/strike up attention/distract people from their meals and daily life and generally causing that sort of trouble.
And bringing your BJD to Japan is fine, but honestly I don't think you should bring them EVERYWHERE, that would just be a bit odd unless they're tiny-sized or something similar. However, if you're talking about Volks, Volks doesn't like when you bring dolls from other companies into their shops. They're prudes. :B

I've been interested in these for years. Volks have some amazing dolls but I think they're a bit crazy, I'm only fourteen though and unable to purchase my own doll but when I get a job I definately will.
Though it's tempting to buy a resinsoul doll as they're so cheap.

Super Dollfie is the registered trademark of Volks, Japan. These dolls are getting more and more popular in US but people use more general term, the ball jointed dollsl (BJD).
I own a couple of BJDs that are from Korea and China thus far and hope to own the super dolfie from Volks, Japan someday, but I think Korean and Chinese make equally great dolls.

@iheartlovebleach Its actually nice to hear that , as alot of people dont even bother to try to understand the somewhat strange but indeed intriguing hobby, of BJD & their owners. There is now a huge worlwide following of bjd, where alot of people gather for conventions & meet-ups.. In USA, Australia, UK, Germany, ect. Their used for photography, modeling & artwork too, as they provide awesome character inspiration, even being featured in 2 Kerli music video's 'Tea Party' & 'Walking on air.' :D

Actually, there are two Volks dealers in the US other then Tenshi no Sato. One is in Austin, where I live, and I can't remember where the other one is. They aren't full Volks shops, but they are authorized dealers.

I really like how this video shows owners and their love for their dolls. BJDs are really addictive, af first you would never expect yourself to own one, and after that you're ordering your first, and after that you just want to keep bringing more home. Most agreeable point is the pricing is a killer, but if you are motivated to get him/her, you'll actually take time and effort to save up. The ceremony wasn't really my thing, but I'm alright with birth certificates :)

I've totally fallen in love with Japan, but I'm not the kind of girl who likes wearing over-the-top outfits and I'm not into cosplaying either. I do, however, like how the clothes look on manga characters, dolls etc. So for me, it's kind of an alter-ego thing. I like creating characters with interesting peronalities and styles but I myself am just a normal person. For people like me, the dolls provide an alternative universe. When real life gets tricky, it's nice to escape into the doll land.

Well I'm sure it doesn't matter what type the doll comes from, their still BJDs. And err, what they possibly meant by trouble was just incase someone steals it, or perhaps someone assumes they stole it in a super market, so you can avoid those in Karaoke places and perhaps other areas too.

Well what they mean by cause trouble is take up room/strike up attention/distract people from their meals and daily life and generally causing that sort of trouble.
And bringing your BJD to Japan is fine, but honestly I don't think you should bring them EVERYWHERE, that would just be a bit odd unless they're tiny-sized or something similar. However, if you're talking about Volks, Volks doesn't like when you bring dolls from other companies into their shops. They're prudes. :B
