Crap I don't remember what RAM I had on that. No I think it was 800Mhz. It worked fine as long as I had it though. Cannot promise anything for 1066 though.

I tend to get as more vrm phases as possible. This mobo was destined for my secondary rig.

My Q6600@3600 needed 1.36V with a TRU. I never use the stock coolers.

My PSU was a Superflower 500W.

It is quite good. Just read the previous comments regarding this mobo and the Q6600.

You should always have a couple of fans in your tower, no matter what.

The 4870 is a better suited step that the X2, since he had 3850s. He could do it of course if he needed it but it would be like moving from a bicycle to a spaceship!

You on the other hand, already having a 4870, are better suited to jump to an X2!;)

Yes it does run crossfire. It is equiped with two PCIe 2.0 X 16 slots, that drop to X8 mode once two cards are istalled. No problem though. Your 3850s would be fine. I do believe that you should sell both of them and get a 4870 1Gb though!

It is a very nice and cheap mobo. Just make sure you get the "plus" version. The other one has some problems.

It will run any gfx card great. It has X16 PCIe 2.0 slots. Just keep in mind that if you decide to use two of them, the slot speed drops to 8X for both slots.

It has something to do with overclocking and asynchronous clocks speeds. The PC shuts down suddenly or something. This was not a DFI problem. It was Intel's P45 fault.

No difficulties for me.:) It just requires basic installation knowledge. Overclocking was a breeze too! It managed to run my Q6600@3600 with only 1.36V while i needed 1.475V on my Asus Commando.

Oh one more thing. You could find it difficult to plug in your hard drives cables, after bolting the mobo in, if your case is not lengthy enough. It has the ports on the side.

i got my stuff awsome. bit of mess with the dominator fan as the cpu fan was to big but i managed to get it all on, got my 3870x2 in running hot. i didnt raid in the end didnt have a floppy for the software. seems at the moment i cant do updates comes up with errors but will give more information on how i get on.

As for AMD, no, i am actually an AMD fan. It's just that i already had a core 2 platform and i wanted to have two compatible systems in case if hardware failure!

Sounds like an OS problem indeed. Try a linux live cd and once it boots, issue a shutdown command. You will see then if it is a software or a hardware problem.

I got it pretty cheap at 130 euros and it manages to run my Q6600@3000mhz with only 1.232 volts! For 3600mhz in my commando, i had to go all the way up to 1.475!!!
