@Skeebow42 Considering that most of the general public were just getting their first cell phones in 1996(when Rocket, the album this song was on, was released) its pretty reasonable to think that pay phones still had a use at that time.
I don't no why this guy just doesn't get a goddamn cell phone, because that's one fucked up phone both. It's in the middle of fuckin' nowhere, there's no door on the goddamn think, (Fuck, Superman couldn't even change in it.), and he probably can't hear a goddamn thing with all those planes screeching by. The only thing good about it is the little urchin that pops out of it in the end. Besides, I thought only Mexicans and hobos used pay phones.
This song is THE 90's for me. My ex made me a mix CD and this is the first song on it. Words cannot describe what this song does to me. Miss her every day.
this song would be good for a reflection when played when you are at airport, at a bus stop or at a train station after a 5 hour commute or while travelling.
This song has got a badass fuckin' drum loop and a dope BB King sample. I remember 106.3 FM playing this all the time and it was a milestone of my youth...
i'm not one to comment on youtube videos really, but i heard this song for the first time a couple months ago. i was sleeping in bed listening to AOLRadio: Meloncholia and it worked itself into my dream. i pulled myself awake enough to right down what it was.
I'm amazed how this song managed to slip through before. I have quite an expansive collection of music and always love this kind of sound. It's since become one of the top 10songs I've heard. imo.
@pjbottoms consider yourself lucky! At least you finally get in touch with such a beautiful song like this. This song is just very nostalgic and one of the most beautiful songs I've heard. Been listening to it for more than a decade and still hasn't worn me out
i wish good music were more part of the mainstream, so then i could actually find more songs like these. it's like i have to go out of my way to find good music, and that's a pain.
@snoop0851 cool, well it was still a good point because in contrast to you barely finding them out, roughly 12+ years this song came out, contributes more to the fact it was underrated song and underrated band.
the first time I heard this song I was cutting through Mississippi down I-59 going to New Orleans........I was driving and my husband was asleep in the passenger seat.........time stood still for me while I listened to this song -
the first time I heard this song I was cutting through Mississippi down I-59 going to New Orleans........I was driving and my husband was asleep in the passenger seat.........time stood still for me while I listened to this song -
@TheBunnyist Did either one of you kill hitchhikers? Someone once told me, that people who drive down I-59 are very bad people. If you are not a zombie or a vampire, then show your 'hippie side' or take a walk bad guy! You are a very bad person, you eat sugar, smoke 'butts' and drink moonshine. Because you needed to have 'time stand still' you decided to be a bad person! You are a bigot! You are a racist!
Been trying to figure out the name of this song for a long time. Typed in phonebooth with change, and it came up! So happy, because it's an awesome tune.
I remember listening to this song when I was younger. I never really payed attention to the lyrics; I just liked the music, but now looking it up I find the lyrics are my favorite part. Thanks for posting this video!
Anyone remember a video that came out around the same time as this one that had a little girl riding her tricycle all around the world??? Everytime I hear this song it reminds me of that song & video, but I can never remember who they are by.
Nope, not by Blind Melon (that little girl was in a bee costume - I loved the vid!!!). The one I'm talking about has this little Indian (I think) girl riding her tricycle around to different places and cultures all over the world. It was a very pretty vid and the music was just smooth!
@Laughinopoulous they are still around bro, just indie as hell...shoegaze actually. i love this band/song..this album is crap other than this song ( wich is the best ) but the other albums are fuckin AWSOME! look them up and download.
Man I miss the 90's sometimes. I missing driving to college classes every morning and being glad when a song came on the radio. Not like now where i wish the radio dj's heads would just blow up.
I don't know what it is about this song, but I can listen to it 100 times in a row and not get tired of it. I don't think I can say that about any other song.
Why does it seem like songs like this from the nineties are so much better than anything out there today?...I'm starting to feel like an old grandma: "When I was a girl, blah, blah". But it really does seem like there was so much more ingenuity and feeling in this decade that was not so long ago
@andyouseethelight I don't think it's merely just a perception that things "seemed" better in the nineties - this is actual reality. Music really sucks now. The 90s was an extremely inventive decade with an "anything goes" kinda vibe. People didn't give a fuck because it was cool or hip, it just felt natural after the 80s era of excess and extravagance. Most mainstream music coming out now is forced and uninspired trend-following garbage.
@ute345 A-fucking-men man. So so true. Music today you can clearly see a format they follow with the beat, the lyrics and the chorus. Its basically just insert 'A' into 'B' etc and there is your song. 90s music was so so diverse. From pop to rap to alternative to house. Everything today is essentially pop at its basest form. And, generally, the worst kind of pop
There's still good music out there but you'll never in hell hear it on the radio. I, too, wish the days were back when pop actually could be creative as well as catchy. Turning on a "rock" station these days gives me the horrors. So much mediocrity.
@andyouseethelight u r not the only one....i cry when they add songs like this and U2 to the oldies playlist on the radio. im like, wtf? lmao...im not oldddd
@starcharm Yer not old! This song reminds us of how YOUNG we still are! Enjoy the tunes and LOVE U2...... "40" and just about all they sing since "BOY".....1st album I bought! You're not alone!!
this song is ridiculously chill. i just had a horrible break-up with my boyfriend, and all i want to do is stroll city streets listening to this tune.
I guess these guys are still around. You can buy their new album digitally from their website. I only heard a little sample of one of the songs, it sounded kinda low-fi but melodic. I thought, "I could get into this". Problem is, my time is short and there's only so much time to listen to music, I feel like I have to choose very carefully what I allow myself to listen to. I miss this song by the way, gives me a nostalgic feeling. peace
First time i remember hearing this song i was in a bowling alley right on the middle lane working, nobody was bowling or anything it was awesome it was kinda creepy being in there by myself hearing this song
ive always known this song and loved it. i bought the album yesterday at a record shop, it was basically a throwaway of somebody's and i got for 3 bucks. now its my treasure :)
I agree, can't wait for the 4g, my only isssue is with the smaller screen size.
LOL Lots of ppl Reading this comment won't be able to afford the iPhone 4g, since it will be $497
Your in luck I realized on Apples face book page Thursday they are giving away a ton of iphone 4gs. Also, this is the link to Apples contest website ... just copy and paste
When I listen to this song, I picture someone on another world attepting to pick up radio-waves from space. And then, all of a sudden, they hear the beat for this song on the radio breaking through the static......
@MrKjames1, are you serious, you have to such an asshole prick that you actually need to make fucking remarks like that because they couldn't find the song. The name of the song is not in the lyrics, and it hasn't been on the radio since 96, so you tell me how they know how to type in telephone booth. Most people only remember part of a song after that long of time. It took me a while to find the name of this song. So go fuck yourself with your fist, you piece of shit.
@showyousomething hey motherfucking internet tough guy you dont want to see me in reall home boy and if you do i will gladly give you directions and a 1st class fight to my front door alright motherfucker i wish you would come see me bitch fuckin idiot burnt out motherfucker suck my cock my 10 inch cock you faggot

When I listen to this song, I picture someone on another world attepting to pick up radio-waves from space. And then, all of a sudden, they hear the beat for this song on the radio breaking through the static......

If you love this one, which I do, you may like A Whiter Shade of Pale by Procal Harum as well. Tried to include a link but it won't let me.
