Personally I think they got better over time. Unlike House for example. Season 4 is my favourite. Although this scene is amazing too. Cannot wait for season 6! You know that's right!
LOL "I'm sorry, and it was fine." I <3 this duo. I wish they'd do more of this in the newer episodes. They're still funny as heck, but these earlier episodes were more easy going and more improv. And James is just the best for this show. The whole cast rocks.

Shawn was MUCH more confident and not at all afraid of any situation back then. Plus I think that in the early epidsodes, Roday improvised much more which they should let him do now today more often. Plus you really don' t hear Shawn doing any different voices like he did in the early days. I miss that a lot.
@pabsk67 In the interview I think the creator was talking about making Shawn mature more in relationship and attitude as they ramp him up for Jules to see him as someone she wants to date seriously. and it seems like young Shawn is going to act more and more like the Shawn from 2006

As much as I adore all Psych seasons (maybe not SO much with S6) nothing beat the enthusiasm of energy and fun Season 1 had.
Not to mention James looking his best ;)
