Nice video. Question I'm getting a DSLR for Astrophotography using my Celestron Nexstar 6SE for Prime Focus shots. I hear there is a problem with drifting when taking long exposure shots so what is your recommended exposure time. Keep in mind that the 6SE is a GoTo telescope. Anyone else who reads this post feel free to message me for tips
This is such a nice telescope but i'm seeing Jupiter exactly the same (i mean really exact, minus the motorised tracking of course) with a complete garbage "vivitar" refractor 'telescope'(complete garbage). Is it coming from your eyepiece that you aren't drawing some more power and crispness? I know it should not be from your primary reflector because it looks a pretty nice diameter!
Actually, it occured to me that it is being filmed with a camera and this adds some more lenses refaction, besides some days can be so humid--like a blanket over the image, inspite of the scope..
good luck & explorations!
Erin go bragh! :D(saw the location on the vid's end)
Awesome picture!! I just saw Jupiter for the first time through my telescope last night, and it blew me away!!!! Your shots are a bit better than I got, but i was still able to make out the stripes of Jupiter and four of the moons. BEAUTIFUL!
High ISO SNR is great for astrophotography, but the mismatch of EP exit pupil to a full size sensor will cause vignetting and field distortions.
There is also a considerable loss in contrast looking through so many lens elements.
5D2 is a great piggyback cam - awesome doing widefield work, even with the standard 24-105 f/4 lens - though a wider FOV would be better (Ya can't get the whole Milky Way in @ 24mm)

@hallobaaaby Yeah. I agree.
But I am still getting use to my scope. You are probably doing more right then I am.

Nice clip, but I have to ask -
Why do Afocal rather than Prime with a 5D2????

@SC0RePIO
Prime focus is fair enough, but afocal gets you a bigger target then normal.

I love the music, it reminds me of old science programs from the 80's and maybe 90's

Amazing telescope !

Thanks. Images should get better when I get to understand equipment a bit more. Or when the clouds finally clear from overhead!!
