  • DOPE!! :)))))))

  • wow, how did you mange to get the drums to sound that good?

  • @lukyganesh Ultra mad skillz?

  • on the drop; how did you make that 'jump' sound? :)

  • Could you check out my GarageBand dnb and tell me what you think?? Thnx ;)

  • this is awesome!!!!! :D

  • Hey mate, what is the effect used on the drums just before they drop, like a low/high-pass filter? Or what? Thanks mate.

  • @CptMaori Hey sorry for late reply... Yeah I believe that was parallel processing. One with a faded out hi-pass, and another faded in lo-pass? Or the other way round. Can't quite remember.

  • what drum kit are you using?

  • @guitarchim DnB kit.

  • this is good, the drums also sound good for garageband

  • this is good, the drums also sound good for garageband

  • This is sick stuff dude !! i did the same thing with dubstep like 2 years and then i heard aboud logic so i steped over to logic pro, and it's soooo way better !

seriously... what you did there is f*cking amazing ! big up and keep doing what you're doing !

  • Where did you get these drums?

  • man, this is great. this is by far the best song done using garge band. you did a really good job.

  • this is fucken absolutely amazing! i just opened my garage band and was so confused.. this gives me hope! lol

  • Nice drum beat!!!

  • This almost sounds like dubstep, I likes very much!

  • I covered Pink's song Perfect using Garageband - let me know what you think! Ryan from AIA

  • Can I get the template from your drums? They sound AWE-SOME.

  • woa how did you do those drums???

  • this may be the best garage band i have heard. cheers

  • is'nt Drum n' Bass Faster...

  • @DoubleADubstep it's that fast as you want it.... at least i think so ^^

  • wow.. listening to this high is the shit

  • If anyone wants some free drum loops let me know, I have loads in the link on my video 'How to mix drums in Garageband FREE DRUMS DOWNLOAD' Ryan from AIA

  • This is pretty tight man, awesome. :D

  • amazing

  • This is some quality stuff + for all of you guys who are hella skeptical: there is an edit tab that can let you alter sounds far beyond what they originally sounded like to make kick ass music such as this, so get over it and mess with sum filter and such :P

  • So you didnt use loops but did you use synth presets or programm your own patches because it sounds like presets to me..

  • Which drum kit do you use????

  • sick shit dude!!!!

  • this is really good

  • SIK, carry on be famous like I am trying with dubstep lol

  • this is epic n should be on dj hype drum n bass essentrails...:D...i gt one on my channel i made but it waz a kinda tryout thing...only got the beat n a synth lol.....can u tell me wat synth you used plzzz

  • Tonight I'm going to go out and kill 6 people who don't know shit about garageband and think this is crap :)

  • FUCKIN AWESOM!!!! i was trying to do something like that, but this just makes me wonder how much time i actually have to put into it, if i see this it means i should probably estimate a year with the free time i have XD

  • what do you do to get that hard drum sound? that's the only thing i have trouble with on garageband is a nice drum sound

  • 1:12 , wicked

  • sounds great man!!

  • im new in the hole garageband thing.. do i need anythings els then the mac to make this? :)

  • @hesteskum you need a brain and fingers. And eyes, ears. A MIDI keyboard would help too. But thats optional

  • How do you make the drum n bass beat cos ive tried and its so hard :( help.

  • did you make the drum beat on your midi keyboard or is that a loop?

  • @polarfox7

    I made everything from scratch.

  • @alienredwolf can u name me all the inrtuments u have used on the left hand side of the collumn, please, thanks

  • Hmmm? I am used to using Reason for D&B but don't have it at the moment so was considering using Garageband....This guy has done really well for the resources at hand, but now I think for the time and effort then go straight to Logic for a Mac user, Fruity Loops was great for D&B but might be a bit dated now????

  • audiogasms all over the place while listening to this man. and its not even my style of music. great job.

  • can you do a tutorial on how to make a dnb on garageband!! that would be really good..... nice tune!;)

  • What drum kit are you using for that? Sounds epic man good job

  • Can you possibly do a tutorial on the snare sound you used? I loved it, just cant get my snare to sound right in it.

  • if that is the case which version of garageband did u use and can u name some of the things u used thanks cause i want to make something similar. by any chance did u use a KEYBOARD.

  • @tearsofblood88

I was using GarageBand 4 at the time but that was 2 years ago. Now I use the latest one. I normally would multitrack the drum beat. Make 2 identical copies of the drums and EQ one of them to make the snare and hats sound really crisp, then EQ the other to make the kick sound really woofy. Do that a million times with each instrument focussing on one bit at a time. I use hi-pass and lo-pass filters, reverb, delay, chorus, tremolo amongst about 25 other effects. Hope this helps!

  • And yes... I used a M-Audio MIDI KEYBOARD (49 key). This comes with NO added sounds. All from GB!

  • now i know half of those where not all garage band effects but anyways where did u get half the loops from this is like the coolest thing i have seen on garage band

  • @tearsofblood88

Sorry man, this was made entirely from scratch. No loops. And every effect used was a combination of all the standard effects that come with GarageBand. Thanks for your comment.

  • This is wild!

If you want you can listen to my Garageband Drum n Bass on my account

  • Comment removed

  • This is great! Can you post a tutorial??

  • Nice work. You should check out macjams . com. a lot of us garageband ppl post our work on there. EXCELLENT work.

  • Saw your site, followed link on myspace. Absolutely love this track.

  • hey, at school i gotta do this as an assignment, make a good piece of music in garage band, u reckon u could send me the file? =D msg me back and ill giv u my msn or skype

  • This is by far the best garageband tune i've come across. Not just for the genre... all togther! Love the tempo change at 2:54.

  • yoooo this is sickkkk

  • very nice

  • very very nice, i think i shall sub to you cause of this lol, check my stuff and maybe sub back? keep it up man

  • What the hell. This is so amazing.

  • I have a slew of Analog Synths, but no great drum machine. How good are the drum samples of Garageband? I want to be able to make some really good drum tracks, can I do this with Garageband alone? Mac is slated to arrive tomorrow afternoon. Im hoping it will let me take my music to the next level.

    Eric

    Rhythmicons

  • dont like the ending ...

  • @Jugggggiiiiiiiii

Yeah I did this so it could be faded into other songs easily. It's not my favourite either.

  • ya but u did a great job! if u click on my name u can c 2 songs i name on garageband, and feel free to comment

  • this proves you can do almost anything on garage band! WOOT WOOT

  • this is fuckin sweet man good job. i had nearly finished a drum n bass song on garageband that took me ages but someone fucked a bottle at my macbook by mistake at a house party and i lost everything on my harddrive!! i was sickened!! keep up the good work buddy keep em comin

  • Oh dude, sorry to hear that. I've lost all the shit of my PC a few times, that's why I switched to mac!

    Keep at it buddy.

  • how or where did you get that drum beat?

  • It took my a loooong time but I did it all by hand hey, from scratch. I parallel compressed as well, Doubled the track twice and in each copy, focused on either the hats, snare, or kick. giving each layer the best sound for itself.

  • yeh i can nvr make a good baseline or beat, and frm the preset stuff already in there its damn near impossible.

i take it the key to this is patience and persistence?

  • You got it, man.

  • Id like to know how the heck you came up with such a nice beat. I can never get anything good to come from the preset drum sets :(

  • Yeah, it took a looooong time. lol.

  • Hey I'm about as experienced as you are with gb, but I'm wondering. At the bottom of the window with the main volume, is it always in the red part for you? It is for me and it seems like nothing is wrong, but when I go to export it, it's really quiet. Is there any way to fix this?

  • Hmm that's pretty weird. What I would do is solo each track until you find which one is making it peak. If all of them are or all them are, try adjusting the individual levels of each track. Also, after you have exported the song (I usually do 192 or 320kbps), open it up in a wav editing program (Audacity is free and is the best). Physically look at the wave form to see which bit looks loudest, then edit it in GB.

    Hope this helps!

  • It did! Thanks! btw you should do more dnb stuff.

  • actually the tracks I exported aren't too quiet, but I've always wanted to make them as loud as say itunes quality music. my music is okay (myspace(.)com/perfectchaoslemon) but idk if gb is built to do such songs without fuzzing up.

  • Volume maximizing is a difficult thing. Garageband has a built in peak limiter that actually works well. And when you export, make sure you have audio normalize off ;)

  • Yeah but then that makes them horrible quality and distorted fuzz occurs. I just gave up on the whole thing.

  • Then you didn't leave yourself enough headroom. Try reducing the volume on all your tracks until no distortion occurs. There is distortion any time the analyzer goes into the red zone. Another thing you may need to look at is the overall EQ, maybe you're just really boosted in one range, and it would be a simple fix to cut it in the master EQ. If you can send me the song, I'll remix and master it for you, if you want ;)

  • So reducing the overall volume doesn't work? Okay let me see if I can do it myself first before I send it to you. Is there a master EQ tab in garageband? I know there are EQ tabs for each individual instrument (well EQ boosters but still), but if there is that'd be great if you could tell me.

  • Well, it depends on how far you're exceeding the thresholds, but yeah, you could probably just reduce the master volume. This is how you can do the master EQ. Go to the file menu > tracks > show master track. Then, open the master track info, and do your EQing there. That will EQ the whole mix at once.

  • sooo good for garageband. is that the default synth or didyou use au's? great breaks too

  • I built up the synth from scratch within GarageBand. Cheers for the comment!

  • awesome dude. im looking forward to getting a midi controller so i can get the most out of my new MBpro : ) looking forward to being able to put some of my stuff up on here once i get started.

  • So legit for using garage band. Upgrade to logic.

  • wow. very well done.. probably the first garageband song on youtube that i listened to all the way through. i even gave it a second listen :)

  • Yes! Definitely! I am not a piano player either but if you just drink a coffee and throw your hands on the keyboard your bound to come up with something odd and listenable.

Plus, you can adjust and tweak any wrong sounding notes later in the 'piano-roll' section of GB.

    Hope this helps!

  • search a label my friend, this thing is wicked!!

  • please send me those breakbeat drums!!! please please please!!!!!!

    willhof11@hotmail(dot)com

  • NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

If I give them out to everyone who asks, it would be crap.

  • well can you send me some form of breaks in garageband format? make them like "Storm Raid Battle" by Sabrepulse and ill send you back like hundreds of sick samples!!

  • What? GarageBand format? No.

I made this by hand. I am happy to help you by giving you advice and shit, but I'm not going to give you something I have created for you to use yourself.

  • all right then tips would be great

so how would i want to get nice sounding crazy breaks (see forementioned song)

or vid tutorial would be nooice :D

  • wow great job :D you sure spent some time on this

  • Dude! I have a Macbook Pro and I love Garageband but I didn't even jnow you could do this kind of stuff on it. I give you mad props. :D

  • like it, especially after 2:23!

  • Thanks! I like llamas!

  • what drums are u using on here? is it loops or r u using vsts....the drums on garageband arent great so was jus wonderin if the drums u used on here were from garageband

    cheers

  • The drum samples all come from a purchased GB Jam Pack (Remix Tools i think it was). I created all the drum beats by hand, sample by sample.

  • ah ok kl.....nice track by the way...

  • When the bass kicks in at 1:12, what synth setting did u use, or was it a synth texture?

    Cheers!

  • I created my own synth instrument texture by severely editing all the parameters in a few of GB's built-in synths.

  • Very impressive

I've been trying to make DNB with Garageband myself

I was wondering if you could tell me how you fade in and out on certain instruments cause I can't seem to find how to do it

    Cheers

  • Well what I would do is have the whole instrument track or tracks fade out as others fade in. If they are both at the same tempo, the transition should be flawless.

On the left of the screen, each track has an array of little buttons (record, solo, mute, lock, and a little down arrow). Click the little down arrow and it lets you change the volume and panning of any given track (and automation in GB '09).

    Hope this helps! ;)

  • Your website is blocked and put under the category of porn at my school :D

  • Do you know where i could get some cool loops for a drum n bass song in garage band?

  • Very impressive for GarageBand.. You should move on to something more professional.

  • @PuzzleDNB logic studio

  • @Konsoquence yes, for example. anything that's less crap than Garageband

  • @PuzzleDNB I don't think he needs to...

  • i make all my moff songs on garage band, all my trip-hop shiz

  • is this just the normal garage band or is it the kind where its laced with logic? lol just cause i dont find the drum kit familiar and in the normal garageband it only has like... 5 kits

  • Nah this is just average ol' GarageBand. I have installed many Jam Packs and instrument patches though. You cannot 'download' this particular kit sound though. I made it myself.

    Good luck!

  • o wow, how did you make it? srry lol despite having garageband for many years i \m still i-tarded :P and where did you get ur jam packs from?

  • I literally made it by tapping my MIDI keyboard with my lanky-ass fingers. I cleaned it up and shit afterward of course. I bought the Remix Tools jam pack from the Apple online store and acquired the other bits and pieces by download.

  • compliment

  • sweet!!

    love it

  • that was....amazing.

    :)

  • pretty good man

    check my videos

  • how did you make the reese bass noise kinda thing bro

  • Just mucked around with some of the parameters in the instrument patch til I got the right sound.

  • i <3 1:15 that drop is OIIIIIII

  • love it man

btw, what drum kit do you use for most of the way through?

  • Thanks pal, I believe it was the "Drum & Bass" instrument patch, I sequenced the actual beat myself.

  • HARDDDDDDD! I LOVE IT!

  • Cheers dude, means heaps.

  • i love it :) keep it up

  • I'll try!

  • Impressive piece of work there mate xD

  • Thanks buddy!

  • This is really impressive. Any tips on making convincing drum and bass drum loops on garageband though - I find it's really hard to get the tone right but you seem to have managed it - how?!?! :P

  • I just fiddled around with my MIDI keyboard honestly, adding one little part of the loop at a time.

Pointer: Duplicate the drum beat, on one track, emphasize the snare, and on the other the kick. It really clarifies and tightens the beat.

  • 1:12 sounds like Metroid: Pirates theme.

  • sweet job man :)

  • Cheers brother!

  • this is so awsome.

  • Thanks a bundle.

  • nice track

  • So they say.... Haha, thanks man!

  • Can you upload a vid teachin us how 2 make a drum and bass song on garage band coz i am tryin 2 do 1 and i can't lol

  • That seems like a lot of pressure. I will gladly answer any questions you have if you wanted to add me to myspace, though.

  • Sorry I can't I don't have Myspace. But I have Bebo

  • nice that is cool!

  • Cheers, palington!

  • that was absolutley great dude :)

  • Cheers buddah!

  • very very goood

  • That's what SHE said... About this song... And my dick.

  • LAwl

  • This is awesome - you should make more of these drum and bass tunes!

Did you use any jampacks to get the pro sounding drums and instruments or did you filter them yourself?

    Kudos-

  • Cheers brother... I might just do that.

Yeah I have almost all the jampacks. Definitely get the remix tools one. That's the one I focus on. Oh but also, I duplicated all the drums onto a few separate tracks, filtered them all myself and added an effect to almost every percussion noise.

  • Sweet Track Brother! You got skills!

  • Cheers yo!

  • jesus bro thats one of the best!

  • Cheers brother!

  • Sick bro. real D n B

  • Thanks man :)

  • Bro this song is fuckin dope, love it eh

    print that on vinyl :P

  • Haha cheers man! Means heaps to me!

  • Does garage band come for mac mini or a toshiba windows?

  • if you buy a mac you get garageband on it pre-installed.

    not available on windows.

if you use a windows computer get fruityloops.

  • Bruv, this is REALLY fucking good!!! That is a tune, i'd def rave to this in a club. Thats the heart of it. Nice one man.
