  • U have good graphics but record with naother camera or thing please!!

  • You know you can turn off the ILS Morse code tone on the radio stack by turning off the ID button. Gets annoying really fast.

  • LMAO SUCH A BAD PILOT. FIRST THING IS THT THE AVERAGE LANDING SPEED FOR A 747 IS 140-145. I USE 145 OTHER WISE IN BAD CONDITIONS YOU WILL STALL DUE TO DISRUPTED AIR AROUND THE WINGS. THEN I NOTICE YOU ADDED FLAPS AROUND 227 KNOTS WHICH IF YOU WAS USING FFSPASSENGER WILL NOTICE THAT YOUR FLAPS WILL BE DESTROYED AT THOSE SPEEDS. PREMATURELY LOWERING THE GEARS AND NOT TO COUNT THE FALSE CONFIRMATIONS. YOU DECENDED WAY TO CLOSE TO THE AIRPORT.. BUT GOOD LUCK IN BECOMING BETTER AT THIS.

  • @deadlydolleatsbabies you are worng you land with 160, 140-145 is for a boeing 737

  • @TheisFromDkhockey u don't have to land faster becuase the plane is bigger, the flaps are desinged to give the plane enough ist to land at the same speed any other comercial passenger aircraft would, i60 is a tad fast.

  • Its alot more fun and challenging to land manually...

  • how do you use the mouse to look around

  • Is it FSX or do you have a add-on to get wing view, move in cockpit etc...

I am still getting FSX so i dont know:)

  • I love pretending I'm cleared to land, I do it all the time lol

  • lol you could also set the auto break to 1 or 2 and arm the speed break...

  • bad quality image. Can not see what you are doing. So better to have a pilot on board

  • This tutorial should have someone talking and explaining what is going on instead of playing annoying music!

  • you didnt add full flaps and you slow to 160-165 knots

  • dude i can count those pixels

  • good graphics man, what kind of pc do you have?

  • I fly on 100000 attidude very high or?

  • @skotfossfan , if you fly a blackbird, norma cruise alt is 40,000 on a 747

  • I just got FSX and Love it, but have yet to figure out how to do a proper ILS. Anyone know of a check list you can print out somewhere to reference during flight? Thanks! And awesome vid, I'm going to try it out now!

  • this would be so helpful!... if i could see it -_-

  • wow nice one what flight sim are u using

  • @machacoification fsx, flight simulator x from microsoft

  • @jman036 i have the very same one but your virtual view is really 3d and you can use all controls, my one is kinda flat...also do you use the mouse to move the view in virtual view? is that to do with the PMDG 747 add-on you mention on the video description? thank you

  • @machacoification FLIGHT SIMULATOR X

  • ILS learnt....Thx man although the quality is low.....

    thx for the usefull tutorail.

  • It landed me short of the runway, waht did i do wrong??? :(

  • You did a pretty awesome job. Personally, I disable the autopilot once I'm well established on the localizer. Imagine all that could go wrong if you for some reason forgot to turn it off, lol.

All that you really need to correct is your speed (You already said this), Give yourself a bit more room and don't forget to set Autobrake.

You're doing great with the ILS approaches. Now, perfect manually setting up on the localizer instead of using AP, and you'll be a master *thumbs up*

  • Comment removed

  • @TheRobin1232 yep, its allot saver to do so. im sure they land it manually every now and then just for practice

  • how far inbound do you switch it from GPS to NAV?

  • I was on a boeing 747 and our pilot had a heart attack but i didnt kno how to control a plane but i got on controls brought it low landed like this i turned on emergency break and i got an award and i took flight training after that and now im pilot of united airlines flight 90

  • @MrInsects ye right since a boeing has only one pilot... if 1 of the pilots would get a heart attack the second one will take over.

  • @strontklont i'm so sorry i actually ment a private plane hahahahahaha lol

  • @MrInsects ah yes you typed in boeing 747 by accident. clearly you fly a private plane for the united airlines while your still young (i checked your profile) and dont have the experience of years of flying. stop trolling dude.

  • @strontklont well actually i reancarnated and before this life that happened lollolollololololollololollol

  • OK some little corrections:

lights must be turned on after trepassing 10.000 ft but no problem about that...

second thing: normalmentely you cant do that landing like that with all the airports there is some airports where you must puty the crs to land or it dont work...

well there is some other little stuff but those two things are the most importants...

  • how did you know you was going to intercept it at that altitude?

  • Good landing, but for me you landed too fast and without flaps full. Good Video.

  • You know how to land without a pilot! (Exept you, you're so good that you can be a 747-400 pilot in no-time!) :D

  • whats the song ?

  • GPS -.- Use it only for cruise...

the rest can be done using VORS and DMEs.

You could, for example, tune the ILS, and ILS usually has a DME, so it would tell you how far you are from the airport. If you're out of its range, no problems

  • You did everything perfect im an experienced b747 pilot.

  • i'm playing the demo atm but i'm gonna get FSX Gold Expedition, But i got one question in my mind,Idk if my computer is good enough for the game here what my computer have:4CPU,2.80GHz,0.99 GB of RAM

  • Nice quick tutorial there pal. Handy for us newbies out there. :]

  • It shouldn't take so long to stop a 747. Did you even use brakes?

  • @FF35Pilot He has not used the brakes. But because Microsoft has messed up the braking system wich makes it stopping too soon, not using the brakes makes it more realistic.

  • thank u very much , it was very good tutorial , thanks

  • could you do this video again? , pls. , I think it needs to be more slow, stop moving the Aircraft painel control its moving too much, also the aircraft painel conytrol must be closer and clear its too blur. thanks

  • how did you get the beaches in the graphics?

  • NO flaps= hard landing. TO FAST= likley to go off the end of the runway.

  • Where is the flaps?

  • @Theisilo It's right next to the thrust on the right side. If you don't know where thrust is, tell me and I'll try to help. Also, if you can't find flaps still, you can control it using F7 and F6 or F5 to bring up all the way and F8 to bring down all the way.

  • you forgot your flaps

  • im a write this shiit down just in case!

  • what key's do you press to arm the speed brakes?

  • @1995a1995z shift and / i think. thats for fs9

  • @FF35Pilot

    Thanks!

  • @1995a1995z shift *

  • you are going well so fast on that approch

  • can u do this on multiplayer with the Gps???

  • @narutojose2 do you play multiplayer ? add me my ID is Larris1234

  • @HansensUniverse XD i can finalyl ILS land i found out by getting the frequency and putting the heading in I figured it out when i heard the annoying ILS frequency beep and I pressed Nav1 button it easily allined me with runway and i press approach hold altitude came off and at first i pressed the autopilot switch off too early so i slighty missed the allinment but I quickly got it right tehs econd time and now i can land all my planes XD

  • @narutojose2 congrats :)

  • ITS HIS FIRST TIME GOSH! LEAVE HIM ALONE!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • any faster and u woulda finished beyound the runway somewhere in the bushes:),

  • What happened to the flaps... I wander...!

  • THUNDERSTRUCK FTW

  • i thought you cant exceed 250 knots below 10,000ft?

  • @Rezzmee It's just against regulations to exceed 250kts below 10,000ft.

  • @Borck103 is the rule apply while descending?

  • @Rezzmee I'm not too sure on that one actually. Check out the IATA or FAA website, they'll have it.

  • a 747 will have a fmc rather than a GPS

  • how do i turn on break speed!!!

  • @narutojose2 Forward Slash.

  • lol pretend

  • Did you set your autobrakes?

  • i have gotton denied by LA too so thats why now i plan my flight

  • nice

  • the bleeping sound doesnt mean ur locke d onto the ils it just means u have entered KLAX airspace and u av found the ILS

  • umm yes i wud, manually

  • Great tutorial! What kind of video card are you using?

  • um thats incorrect their is no garmin gps on 747 u would have to set up the fmgc

  • Im a pilot your doing perfect!

  • Hey beautiful video! But when I take off, am I supposed to follow the pink line on gps to destination UNTIL 44nm? because I saw you were a distance off from pink line? and what altitude am I supposed to be at by 44nm? AND if I do and IFR plan, will the atc interfere with the landing, sucj as them telling you which way to turn and what not?

  • @PacificaAirlines follow the pink line with an active IFR plan. the ATC will manage how you need to fly. If youre near the airport the ATC will give you free for ILS landing. need more information? PM.

  • @point6000x thanx I'll PM you if nythng coms up

  • dude u dont have to turn alt hold offf it will turn off automaticly once u intercept the glideslope but other wise nice :)

  • can someone help me when i do ils i get to about 50 above runway and then i turn off autopilot and land but it always says land to hard or i got trought runway and "crash"

  • @Mrbestofbest333

You're most likely going to fast.

  • @Antrocks09 no im going 160 should it be slower or

  • @Mrbestofbest333 I don't have the approach speed memorized but check the reference tab on the kneeboard. If you still have this problem, make sure you have correct flaps and you're not coming in to steep.

  • @Mrbestofbest333

If you are landing too hard, perhaps it is because you are not flaring? Or maybe you are waiting too long to deactivate autopilot. You should deactivate it and take control for a smooth landing when you reach your minimums.

  • Lol I like your video it's educative and funny at the same time thanks

  • Did you use the flaps??

  • horrible music

  • In my view, it is easier to find out the ILS frequency from the Runway, plug it into the NAV Radio stack and then press the Autopilot approach button when you intercept the localizer. Just Me :)

  • @ChelseafcfanMark yeh agree

  • what is the best approach and landing speed?

  • @Cjprace it depends on the plane.

    B747 170-180

    B737 140-150

    CRJ700 130-140

    LJet 130

    C172 65

  • can you private message me explaining all of the steps you took in the gps and what buttons you hit and when and stuff, because at 1:32 i got lost

  • You should turn on landing lights at FL 100. 6000 FT is too late with procedures :)

  • Lol.. You know you can do HD because technollogy allows you.

But this nerd recorded using his mobile phone...Lol..gps allign+ILS approach rule..

But in FS11 they should put FMC too and give us a manual because thats hard to use in reality.

  • I like how the context is originally "if you have no pilot here's how to fly a 747!" then is immediately followed by "i'm not a pilot and am not sure if all this is right" -let alone accurate to the real life plane. That GPS you have popped up is not even on this plane. all you have is a few CDU's and if you want to be presumptuous enough to think you can configure the plane for an autoland then you need to know how to use them.

  • U DDNT USE FLAPS JERK

  • could have put more flaps down

  • what song is this in the last part i love it.

  • how did you get the camera to follow the mouse like that and zoom? i love that, thanks.

  • Comment removed

  • nice vid!

what version of FSX is it? (standard, deluxe or gold edition)

whats ur aproach and landing speed?

    thnx

  • Dude in a real B747-400 They Don't have a Garmin GPS THey have FMC ( Flight management Computer ) and It's FUCKING hard to learn how to use it

I learned it With some Difficulti BUT now i'm Flyin' the PMDG 747 but i can't Fidn then NAV/GPS Switch on the 747 :S I know Where it is on the Default but i can't Find it on the PMDG :S xD

  • Hey, we're here who cares? Nice landing.

  • bro, this is completely innacurate. The standard garmin gps in FSX does not look like anything close to the fmc on the 747.

  • which direction were you coming to los angeles from?

  • Thanks This video actually helped me alot. Sadly, i lost all my 747s somehow so i went to LAX on an A380 instead and the ILS worked perfectly.

  • you can also use the "Flight Analysis" map to check out the runways and ILS frequencies. I find that somewhat easier since I don't really know how to use the GPS yet.

  • Heres an idea for you guys. I do it quite a bit! I take out a 787-300 (Typical Airliner) and fly a route or an approach that you fly regularly in real life. I fly between England and Ireland to visit my Dad. Pick a route or an approach that you fly regularly and fly it and land the plane. You never know when the pilot might suddenly collapse! Then you'll be prepared!

  • whats ils?

  • @birdman8377 It is essentially a part of the auto pilot system that lets the aircraft land at an airport automatically.

  • @birdman8377 Instrument Landing System (Autoland)

  • all those correct proceedures are wrong. if they are correct to your landing as to your weight etc, then fine. but nothings the same.

  • Thanks a lot brotha. I appreciate it.

  • Real nice vdeo and informative. How do you move around freely in the cockpit and outside the aircraft? Also, how do you apply the speedbrake? Thanks

  • @kevrachel1 if you're using mouse yoke like i do, just press and hold space bar and you can move around. to apply the speed brakes, press this " / ". OR to arm them so they come on automatically press "shift + / ". if you arm them, they come on as soon as the landing gear hits the runway

  • Track IR looks very well tuned!

  • awesome landings what is the name of the song?

  • @felixtwk185 Learning To Fly by Tom Petty

  • Press Shift+/ while you're still airborne. This will automatically deploy the spoilers upon touchdown.

  • very good ^^i love ils^^

  • What's the purpose of arguing? FAA this FAA that! You think that pilots listen to the FAA? As long as the aircraft gets on the ground safely, that's all the FAA cares about!! Like i said it depends on the aircraft. So a cessna 182 should have an approach speed of 180 or a Citation X? I don't think so. If your not below 180 you risk damaging the flaps!

  • in real life you have a FlightManagementComputer, FMC, and no GPS system like in the fsx default airplanes...i fly with the ariane b737-800 and it is very very difficult to the default fsx boeing...xD

  • Everyone should know this as a pilot. You NEVER EXCEED 250 below 10,000 uless you are cleard by ATC. Approach speed should be between 130 and 150 depending on the weight and weather.

  • Approach speed is 180 knots according to the FAA and decreases throughout the landing.

  • It depends on the weather and how heavy you are. You can land at any speed you want as long as its above stall speed of course and it doesn't exceed the landing speed and 180 is way too fast. I know this because i work at Boeing as an electronic technician :)

  • @FlightSimGuy9782

The approach speed ALWAYS starts at 180 knots and DECREASES throughout the approach, resulting to around 130-150 knots depending on the fuel. You probably didn't understand what I mean. Anyway, whatever.

  • OMG!! It's hard!!!!

    ILS and all the things!!!

    uhhhh

    i really need more knowledge!!

    :P

  • how do you set the gps in flight?

  • hehe, nice.

if you used your flaps you could have landed on half the runway length you needed without. you came in way too fast.

    but we're still alive, so i can't complain =)

  • Nice vid!

I prefer to use an add-on called "Multi Crew Experience" to fly the heavy birds.

You too can try it, and for free.

    Just google it up! LOL

  • you do awesome job!

i don't even know to use autopilot and GPS and this stuff i'll have to learn, oh and btw do you have scenery addon for this airport?

  • in fsx what button u press to get your GPS out? its normally shift +3 but on PMDG it doent work?

  • @piaforever1 Thats because the PMDG 747-400 Doesn't have GPS... It has an FMC (Flight Management Computer) where you set your flightplan, cruise alt etc, the closest thing to your GPS screen would be your HSI, which can be configured on the EFIS, if you want a bit more info, PM me.

  • Awesome video man! I love the music.. Thunderstruck - perfect..

Would suggest uploading a better quality video thought, that would be great.

  • k-po

  • Do u got TrackIR or how can u move the camera so cool^^

    good vid/tutorial

    5/5

  • hold spacebar, use mouse and mouse roller to zoom

  • I have a question. i tried numerous times to land in quito and singapore numerous times with ils but for some reason, it ether crashed or slammed onto the runway. so when there is heavy crosswind or high alt, dont use ILS?

  • I love your video editing techniques...great job on that. tutorials good too!

  • Question: Do u know anything about Flight Pro Sim? I'm contenplating buying it...they're boasting great graphics and unbeatable realism. In a recent email from their Support Team, they said MS has stopped with improvements with FSX - know anything about it? How realistic can FSX get? When I simmed from CYYZ to KLAX i didnt find the scenery very realistic. Some airports that I've been to in real life, like Rome Int, for example, doesnt look anything like FSX. Any suggestions?Thx fellow Simmers!

  • @Bondiblu2 Microsoft has officially stopped making any further flight simulations. They have closed the aces studio.

  • most of todays airiners don't use gps they use a fmc( flight managemnt computer

  • ok let me get this straight in order for the plane to start to decend on its own when i get the ils i HAVE to turn off the altitude hold switch because when i come in for landing and i have the ilsi leave the altitude hold switch on and the plane dosent decend on its own

  • If you have the autopilot in APPR (approach) mode, it will turn off altitude hold when it captures the glide slope and start descending. My favourite ILS landing tutorial is watch?v=6-c710SHDU0

  • No. If you are using the Nav (NOT the GPS) to approach the runway, it will be turned off automatically. As for the GPS, I am unsure, although I imagine it would as well.

  • when u turn on approach hold you have to turn off the alltitude hold because approach hold has the ability to descend on its own to the runway.

  • Just as a side note, the beeping that you hear tells you that your NAV1 radio has communication with your ILS approach. Go to your radio next time and press NAV1 to stop calling it. Everything else looked great!

  • Excellent, Captain.

  • Why is it that im flying towards the runway at like an angle and the plane lands on the right side or left side of the runway and almost never on the centerline.

  • gz :D 5/5

  • you are big asshole

  • wat game is this?

  • flight sim 78

  • Comment removed

  • Hwo do u move the camera with ur mouse???

  • You hold down the space bar.

  • What screen capture software did you use for this video?

  • Comment removed

  • FSX running very good

    video is amazing

you did a very good job

i think i have lots to learn.

    do you teach?

  • I was going to start telling my favorite but decided that would be too long of a list,

lmao ""We're going to pretend we have been cleared to land ,mwahahahaha!""

    nice vid man, 5 stars

  • Learning to Fly - Tom Petty

  • Whats the music?

  • ya you don't know how to land a 747 still

  • Nothing close to the way you do it in the real world.... sorry.

  • farisa FS can actually be used for training that you can log in your book.. its not entirely just for fun

  • I have 16 hours stick on FS but it counts for .5h in my logbook. As in 16hrs = 8hrs simulated. Its the policy of the flight school, which varies school to school.BUT FS TIME CAN NEVER BE COUNTED AS REAL PILOT-IN-COMMAND TIME OR SUBSTITUTED FOR REAL INSTRUCTION.

  • What if the B747 doesn´t have a Garmin-GPS on board? as they don´t.. Better learn the FMC.. ;)

    nice vid.

  • Really A question very important to me : What are the specs of the PC?

  • Yes, what are the specs of your pc because fsx is running very good.

  • well i got : Intel Core i7 2.6GHz, ATi Radeon HD4870X2 , P6T Ws Professional, 4GB DDR3 ram... and it still has lags...I have to put everything on minimum to get a decent play
