Since it was a scot that established your bank of England, the extra we get is our fee, plus if you take into account all the oil money we have gave to the union.
Anyway the union is Void, it says that all laws passed should be for all countries in the union, so why did Scotland get the poll tax a year before england and also the smoking ban a year before england? therefore the union contract is unfair and biased, therefore it should be void, if you dont want us then we will gladly leave?

You assert that Residential Care for the elderly is free in Scotland. This is simply not true. My father is in a care home in Edinburgh and is paying £2,500 a month. The only difference is that personal care is not means tested in Scotland.
However, even if there was a rational and fair method of allocating resources based on social need Scotland would still get more per spending per capita, purely as a function of geography. Scotland has 33% of the UK land mass with only 8% of the population.
How can you be speaking a language from a culture that doesn't exist/you hate (you can't seem to make up your mind, either it exists or it doesn't.) England's total oil comsumption, including london is around 6.5 to 7 billion dollars prift for scotland. An interesting point is that London contributes more to the British economy than the whole of Scotland put together.

I think there's a gradual rise of English nationalism and a growing desire for England to leave the UK. When I was in Liverpool recently, I was surprised to see very few Union flags flying...but England flags instead!

I am pro United Kingdom, but I agree things need to change. I am Northern Irish and see both England and Scotland (not to forget Wales) as great nations that have both contributed lots to our country. Public spending should be proportional to population. And it doesn't seem fair that Scottish MPs can vote on English issues but not vice versa.
Also your figures are rubbish. Scotland was cheated out of Oil revenues in the 70's by a British Labour Government, if we had got them we would be as wealth as Norway or Sweden. According to all figures, Scots get 25% more per head than any english people, Scots get to vote in english matter but english don't get to vote on scottish matters, scots MPs represent less people than english MPs meaning they can have more MPs representing less people. That a Prime Minister, born north of the border, has to 'white-up' to be accepted by the English in a British context. Did Margaret Thatcher lend any support to Scottish sporting teams?

You assert that Residential Care for the elderly is free in Scotland. This is simply not true. My father is in a care home in Edinburgh and is paying £2,500 a month. The only difference is that personal care is not means tested in Scotland.
However, even if there was a rational and fair method of allocating resources based on social need Scotland would still get more per spending per capita, purely as a function of geography. Scotland has 33% of the UK land mass with only 8% of the population.

I spouted some anti-scottish stuff here but have since changed my mind. I think all the nations of the current Uk should be independent but we should make a new, better union. The union of the British isles (Include Republic of Ireland and N.Ireland). Rather than having a centrally run thing, just make a union in which the countries of the British isles are all proud to be who they are but are also proud of their neighbors. Mutual defence and good relations, hopefully would work much better.

In the last twenty, thirty, forty... hundred years, how many Scottish Prime Ministers have there been? Chancellors? Even Speakers in the Commons? CAre to address that?

As for Brown: he lists Paul Gascoigne's goal against Scotland in 96 as his footballing highlight of all time. He wanted England to win the World Cup in Germany. He was supporting England at the opening of Wembley.

Add to that his stated support for the English rugby team.. The man's in overdrive. What does that say about the English? That a Prime Minister, born north of the border, has to 'white-up' to be accepted by the English in a British context. Did Margaret Thatcher lend any support to Scottish sporting teams?

anybody with a bit of brains knows fine well that the union was the single WORST idea to solve certain problems at the time that anybody could have thought up for england AND for scotland, i think most people relise the unions days are numbred, so we can keep throwing stones at each other or we can part ways amacably whats it gonna be?

The only reason Scotland's in the Union is because of the economic benefits. Labour know that and as they need scottish votes, they're not going to change that.
It's not fair on England but Englands budget's increased more than Scotland's for next year (and probably as long as Labour don't control Holyrood.)
