I was there as well - it was an incredible day! My reason for going was Queen, but Steve was amazing too! A couple of years later I bumped into him at the Festival of Mind, Body and Spirit at Olympia, he was really nice and chatted and gave me an autograph. Saw him on stage again at Hammy Odeon on his Open tour - 1980-81.
I was there, what an amazing day. Queen headlined, but Steve Hillage was my reason for going. This clip doesn't do the performance any justice but better than nothing. He played with Gong

This reminds me of what a great performer steve is. His whammy bar action after the first solo appears to send his strat drastically flat. Being a pro, he recovers it quickly enough to sing the second verse faultlessly.
Hopefully one day someone may find there lp and give us a better recording cuz I know it was way better - other half got it! This is one of my favorite of his - what the hell happened - the world missed out that's for sure....
i was there. steve's band had to play at daytime, unfortunately, because the QUEEN were to appear last, they were the BIG name.
this took away some of the magic of the music. i also remember that the audience weren't very enthusiastic. there was even some fighting among fans. i remember him shouting, STOP FIGHTING THERE !
Pretty nice Hillage stuff. The last 2 minutes are Top Notch - He breaks into Om Riff, and some other of his own stuff (the riff is part of my brain, not the speaking part, though) then Master Builder - Really Nice Stevie! Thanks for posting
With out doubt hyde park 1976, i was there and i do remember seeing his part of the gig sometime later in the 70s on itv in the uk. There was some bottle and can throwing going on and he stopped one of his songs half way through to tell them to stop. Great day great memories. This gig still holds the hyde park attendance record to this day.
it was sat sep 18 1976 free concert. i was there at the front. there was supercharge, steve hillage, kiki dee,and queen. in front of over 100,000 people.
Its is Hyde park. Queen topped the bill and it was a free concert. Steve's first ever outing with his Steve Hillage band. Basil Brooks was delighted to be in the line up. This ex-zorch ems player was the less talented half of that band. He didn't last long which helps to pin point this as the very early steve hillage line up, stright after the recording and to promote L.
Sorry to rain on the parade, but there wasn't a Knebworth festival in 1977 and Hillage never played there in any year in the 70s . This is probably Hyde Park 1976 , as Hillages performance was filmed there along with Queen. BFI has records of a 30 min film and a tv company wants to use parts of it for a documentary they are doing . Does anyone know of a better copy out there if so contact me
1977 to 2007 and we still reach for a higher sky on the wings of the muse thanks to the inspiration of those that can fly. Wow this song still inspires so come on world get that love together...its an easy song to sing.
I was at Knebworth in 1977.Were there maybe 2 Knebworths that year.I can´t remember seeing Steve Hillage.Genesis,Jefferson Starship,Peter Gabriel,Atlanta Rhythm Section and Devo (amongst others) were on the bill titled ´A midsummer night´s dream´
Yep a full concert (Steve Hillage - Otto Hahn Schule Bensberg 20.03.77)gonna be put up in the next day or so when i have the time to split it into segments
i dont suppose what you have of hillage or even hillage GONG if you have any you would put on DVD and in the post to me, Ahhhh Hillage, Been A fan for years, Still find it hysterical In the tv show The Yound ones with neil as the copper smashing up the record player in warlocks house which was playing electric gypsies

I love Hillage. Can you imagine if he was the lead guitarist for the Beatles instead of George Harrison?

07:27 he made an instrumental track using that riff. I think it's at the end of For To Not Next And Or Goto or whatever it was called.

From the Canterbury rock / Art-rock / Space-Rock: / Krautrock - genre:
Steve Hillage's glissando guitar on "It's all to much" and "Golden Vibe" is indeed "all to much!"
