@hotajax Oh yess, the sax. In the 80s especially she employed that quite a lot. Sometimes it sounded wonderful, sometimes not. Covers of CCR rarely work with a sax, for example. But it sounded heavenly on albums like LAST DATE (1982) her live album, which I highly recommend. Her covers of Gram Parsons on this one were terrific....

Emmylou was definitely hot at that show in '83. I think her performance of the same tune at Red Rocks in '84 was better (same costume, too), and that video here is much sharper, but it's nice to have this one for comparison.

I love Emmy, but this has never been one of my favorite covers she's done. Some of her cover tunes are almost transcendental, and others just alright.
