I have mixed feelings about schizophrenia. I think it's the most horrid disease known over cancer, over heart disease because it alters your whole existence, and sometimes ends it. On the other hand, these people have something truly unique about them; they transcend in some way.
I think a diagnosis would help the patient to better understand his/her's disorder, but drugs are unnecessary unless requested by the patient. Therapy and counselling should help the patient to fully understand and cope with their disorder. Non-schizophrenics like to throw around their ideas on what the disorder is, how it feels like, how society treats it etc. But only a schizophrenic would be able to tell you how debilitating it really is.
Did you realize when the father was retelling the story, and about to say, "I looked a mess. I had a big egg in the center of my head," but instead says, "in the center of my heart." Very sad.
I noticed that the parents of schizophrenics are usually slightly eccentric, or at least one of them. Not weird, just different. It's just sad and even scary to to think that something like this can happen to the most normal of people.
I was diagnosed as paranoid schizophrenic at age 8 but did not begin to take medication till I was 32. Anyways I am now taking respidol constra 25 mg injection every 2 weeks and feel fine .
@chigurh01 I am glad you are feeling well. I have bi-polar disorder and had one manic episode with delusions and a small short hallucination. I don't know but I think I might have experienced a little of what you might deal with. You must be very strong. Bless you!
@joah578 No, marijuana can not cause schizophrenia. Although THC can induce schizo like symptoms for short periods. But these can be easily reduced/stopped by another chemical in weed CBD or Cannabidiol. Cannabidiol is an anti-psychotic and can be used to treat schizo, but the US is a cunt and keeps Cannabis a schedule 1 drug.
@Bigdawgphilleep The relationship between cannabis and schizophrenia is unclear. The disposition to schizophrenia is inherited and formed largely in utero, but certain things, including cannabis, and being raised in a city, have been identified as risk factors which either cause this disposition to be triggered, or cause it to be triggered earlier than it otherwise might. The evidence for a correlation between cannabis and the initial onset of schizophrenia is staggering and undeniable.
@artievcudds I am saying this both as someone who has worked in psychology, and as someone with a sibling who had a first time psychotic episode while high. It has been years, and his psychosis has not gone away, and if you start talking to others who have had family members become mentally ill, you will find that many first time psychotic episodes, which lead to long term manic depression or schizophrenia, occur while an individual is using drugs.
@artievcudds Umm... I just pointed out that THC can induce temporary schizo. But CBD is scientifically proven to be an anti-psychic, and reduces the affects of THC.
@Bigdawgphilleep Yes, but I am not talking about "temporary schizo," because there is no such thing. I am talking about THC's demonstrated ability to trigger the onset of schizophrenia, which is almost always a permanent disorder, and which one one may or may not be at risk for, depending on genetic factors. THC can also trigger temporary states of psychosis, and such states form part of schizophrenia proper, but they are not the same thing.
@artievcudds I also know that there have been some tests which show that CBD may have anti-psychotic properties, and this gives reason to think that, when isolated from THC, it might be effective in treating the psychotic symptoms which accompany schizophrenia and extreme cases of bi-polar disorder. But this doesn't take away from the strong correlation between marijuana use and the onset of typically permanent conditions like schizophrenia and manic depression.
@artievcudds Ok so I guess we're on the same track. But when saying "marijuana" is the cause, I disagree because marijuana is made of hundreds of chemical. And marijuana is a natural plant, so each sample of each strain is going to give different amounts of each cannabinoid. Also marijuana is not the only place we find cannabinoids , we have things call endo-cannabinoids inside us. They regulate mood and appetite among other things. I guess my problem is in the wording.
@Bigdawgphilleep I developed panic disorder when I was 21, a regular pot user. I had one panic attack while high and that was it!! No more pot!! I have no desire to ever use it again. But sometime I think I might try ayahuasca. Maybe.
@ladyfuschia Ayahuasca can REALLY fuck you up if you can handle it. Same it true with all psychedelics(depending on the dosage, of course). If you still have panic attacks I probably wouldn't do it. Psychedelics are very emotion/setting oriente. If you panic, it could be very scary. Before heading into Ayahuasca, I'd do a few less harsh psychedelics; salvia, mushrooms (these would help prepare for the type of nausea they bring), LSA(ergine or morning glory seeds).

Anyway, I've developed a theory regarding Schizophrenia. It is a cognitive feature formed by biological evolution. (That means it can be a good thing.) The scientific community and "normal" people are so focused on the negative effects, that they don't realize Schizophrenia's real purpose.
@ladyfuschia it's an absence of filters and barriers between thoughts. do some research on case studies and read about terrence mckenna's theories. slumpnasty has a point.
@Slumpnasty I just think that maybe its more likely to be a condition with very few real purposes. If you could tell me how they benefit from it, in the animal kingdom including humans no-one has ever really benefited from being horribly deluded about their surroundings and seeing things that aren't there?
@TheYehcheese I'd be happy to share my idea. If you or anybody else is interested, let me know. Like I said, everyone is so distracted with the negative symptoms, they're ignoring the cause.
@Slumpnasty Fine but please answer me this. My mother used to work at a prison as a doctor, she met many schizophrenics who ended up in there one of whom had murdered her own teenage daughter convinced she was possessed. I know most schizophrenics aren't this serious but if what your saying is true then the more schizophrenic you are the better. What benefited out of her killing her daughter no matter what the positive sides are?
@TheYehcheese Biological evolution is a continual process, and sometimes there are tragic consequences if an organism inherits a "faulty" gene sequence. Actually, I'm starting to think that ALS and autism (even though they are Very different conditions) also have a purpose that scientists are unaware of.
@Slumpnasty The real purpose of schizophrenia is to give birth to the natural man again. And you will know what mental and physical powers he will come with when he comes. Your logic should say he will be the Promised Messiah. Dig?
If you're not a schizoid, then you're slumming, and your disrespect and stupidity displeases me. If you're a licensed and experienced psychiatrist, then I challenge you to a game of cerebral combat. I perceive you all to be silly monkeys, and your monkey voodoo is unproductive. I do not like my kind to be mocked, and I will humiliate you if you cross me.
schizophrenia sucks. I'm schizoaffective and I can only IMAGINE what it's like being full on schizophrenic...I'm in an episode right now...having issues talking, too...and I get very angry...suicidal...the voices suck. I don't normally have delusions but when I do they're very scary.

Steven is one of the luckiest schizophrenics I have seen. What a loving wonderful dad he has. The only thing that could make him luckier is to not be sick. Way to go Steven's parents!
With all the additives, etc. in processes foods these days, I can't help but wonder if outside chemical influences can play a role in mental disorders. What about all the chemicals that are now in water and in the very air that we breathe. There is no genetic test to tell whether or not one will develop this disease but it is known that stress can play a major role.
5:21 "He wasn't there with you" I think eventually, if you live long enough, you realize that culture is a scam, and no body has been there with you other than yourself and the Other. Some may just figure it out sooner than others and recognize/pursue the implications. The majority of my day-to-day interactions can be labeled as distractions from this underlying confirmational geometry of immediate experience. However, we live in a 3d world where emphasis is placed on problem solving states so..
The only solution to Schizophrenia is a No-Mind state. Freedom of the soul from the mind. To attain that we need to get rid of our greed, desire, etc. The Ego needs to be fulfilled, not sacrificed. Will you let me listen to what my heart says, and I promise I will get outta schizophrenia. :) Peace.
@rakabir1 i have acute bassically drug induced shitzophrenic symptoms such as disorganized thinking and hallucinations and my shamanic reiki healer isaware and was talking about the hindu no-mind state and greed
@shanyin1234 i wish you all the best. if you have any questions about this topic, i am always investigating more and more on this, and will be happy to be in connection on this. Peace and stop thinking about nothing too.
@209116032 Studying all of the religious scriptures actually. Do you still not realise that all these scriptures converge to a single point of Purity of Action with a No-mind state? Try reading the regular Bible with a Gnosis perspective and you will see.
Where are we with schizophrenia? I mean that seriously. I was just watching this documentary, but I'm just wondering if anyone knows about if there's been progress made.
@WeskerA Not really. My best friend has schizophrenia and even on meds the symptoms come and go. I suppose the drugs help control the voices and hallucinations but there is no cure and they do not know what causes it. So I guess to answer your question we are have moved an inch mainly because of new meds they make since 30 years ago.
LOL - whoever wrote that mental illness is associated with the occult made me choke on my tea from laugher & disbelief!! Do ppl really believe that shit?!? I find it very sad that ppl come on here spreading lies or simply talking out there ass without anything to back it up. PREACH! Ha! :)
This is so sad, what a lovely young man Steven is, he is so blessed to have good parents like these, especially his lovely father. I really wish them well for the future.
a very good example of a curse is the kennedy family who were deeply involved in the occult. You see the devil doesnt want u to know the truth, because if u know the truth you will be free. Satan aka devil hates human beings & wants to torment us & eventually destroy our lives, thats howecome ppl with mental disease always harm themselves or wanna commit suicide because the demons within them hate them & wanna destroy them.
these "voices " are demons. But Praise God, we have vicory in JESUS
@imelda4jesus you shouldnt really talk about this when im high cause i get paranoid its like jesus vs satan and you'd see the destruction of earth while they fight
Familiar or Family Spirit - These are demonic spirits that attach themselves to a curse or to a person who has given them access. The foothold gained by that spirit will remain in the family line, fastening on an individual's sin and rebellion. The person is now not only struggling against the general family traits, but also is contending against the familiar/family spirit.Specifically, curses can contaminate the whole family line with demons.
@imelda4jesus A Familiar is a spirit that follows a certain family, actually, they are there to help that family out in what they can and to instruct them. Get your head out of the bible and read some other stuff, you'd be surprised. ^^
@Slumpnasty We have found that almost every type of demon can be passed on spiritual, emotional and physical problems can be passed on. Through inheritance. Frequently, when people manifest the negative emotional characterisitics or even the physical illnesses of their parents, these have been passed on demonically. We have found inherited spirits of fear, death, pornography, rejection, hate, rage, homosexuality, cancer and diabetes.
@Slumpnasty That is the whole point, i LOVE Jesus hence me speaking the truth. Im not saying the situation is hopeless, what i am saying is there IS HOPE IN THE POWER OF JESUS. Only the Power of Jesus can set individuals free PERMANENTLY from all these curses and demons. Would u rather hear the plain/ SCAREY truth and seek permanent healing or hear a sugar coated lie and only receive temporary healing? You shall know the TRUTH and the TRUTH shall set you FREE. most ppl with mental problems eg schizopherenia, bipolar and multiple personalities have been involved in the occult or demonic societies such as freemason etc.. Thats why these diseases are generational, cause the demons are inherited from generation to generation. Involvement in the occult leads to mental illnesses, suicides in the family and family breakdowns.
These illnesses are demons and ONLY JESUS can set the captive free, in the Name of Jesus demons flee.
@ladyhrist sorry if i offended u, thats not my motive however whatever i am saying is very true. Most mental illnesses have a root in the occult in the family that is why it is generational. the demons are transfered fron one generation to another eg a curse im not saying all ppl who have mental illness are in the occult, but most definately there is an occult link in family ie satanism, which is a close kept secret. Mental illness is a curse dats y it runs in generation.
The thing that freaks me out is, he had a normal life until in his 20's, which means Schizophrenia can hit anyone at any age, I would not wish this on anyone.

Hey guys. I'm battling from schizophrenia. I'm not asking for money or views or anything, but just for support and for people to hear me out. My psychiatrist said to let people know about your problem, but everyone thinks I'm weird and my family cannot understand or take me seriously. I made a blog about my problems, and I hope we can talk on there. My blog is battlingschizophrenia.blogspot.com . Fellow schizophrenics, you should also come. We can fight the battle together.

@lillyandalex your a fucking idiot, I hope this happens to one of your kids. Even though you and your kids arent "the best of us" ,probably the worst of us, I genuinley hope it still happens.
@lillyandalex not necessarily, that can't really happen unless maybe you were to take some kind of heroic amount of every drug imaginable. It's possible that he might have had it in his genetics somewhere and he unlocked it with some kind of hallucinogens
People who are schizophrenia need empathy and compassion. They are there buried deep down inside of themselves and judgement and criticism is the LAST thing they need. They are violent because they are confused and withdrawn.Helping them with that reduces their need for violence.People who are schizophrenic act like logical adults. They think the voices are normal so they are logically upset when people tell them they are crazy or stupid because they don't think they are.Deal with that first
"To beat a baseball bat into the head of a gentleman": That was a JOKE, he was laughing when he said it. And when he laughed in the beginning it was because of the play not because of the "voices". Treating people who are mentally ill like they are crazy is the first thing you are doing wrong.Violent thoughts are NOT a major symptom of schizophrenia.Who wouldn't have a violent episode if you're locked up all day?Why put your son on blast like this?"he wasn't normal anymore":that's what he learns
Yes, we do all hear little voices in our head, conscience I guess is a good word for it, but we are able to ignore them and move on. For people who have schizophrenia, those voices are constant, and it's like another person is living in there who talks all the time about stupid nonsnse.
There's one thing I need to understand. Don't we all hear a voice in our head telling us what to to or not what to do? Isn't this voice called the ''conscience''?
what's the difference between thinking and hearing voice's in your head because i think in my head all day long sometimes i hear music in my head too? see i dont do what anyone tells me to do so even if i heard a voice in my head saying clean my rooom!!! all just ignore it and keep playing world of warcraft.
@dahman511 - It's more like your having a conversation with another person then a voice in your head, like for example it'd be like a Demon is just out of sight hiding and taunting you or you'd have actual real conversations with photographs.
What your experiencing is just normal mind dribble interrupted constantly by thoughts of nude woman like we all have...
Sorry, your normal (except for the Warcraft thing)
@miles2057 I began taking zoloft which began to help me, I stopped marijuana because I felt like I was being destroyed and it took a few years for me to get better. Occasionally,I have obsessive compulsive disorders.
Nothing serious, more annoying, where I have to do something,it's better than when I had voices in my head telling me to do things. I'm 32 now.
@miles2057 I'm glad someone finally spoke of the dangers of marijuana. All you see these days is how great pot is, but when you fuck around with for a year straight and then it begins to destroy your concept of reality, then you know that's all bullshit.
I tried it and did it because that's what people were doing at the time, so I did it too.
It was fun the first several times but soon afterwards the after effect and the negative toll it took on my mind far outweighed the good times.
I was mentally ill and if I continued down that path I would've ended up in a terrible way.Luckily,I was smart enough to realize it was doing me harm whereas others thought that it was other people who had the problem and not them.
father: "you sometimes hear voices that make you laugh. Right? Right? Right?"
This is an example of how the 'illness' is reinforced. He is not just being asked but being told .
Doctor: "are you down or depressed?"
The guy is living in a f'ing mental institute, what does he think the answer is going to be? Find me a 27 year old male who gets NO SEX, has no freedom, is living in a hospital, and is on haldol that is NO DEPRESSED or SAD and I will show you the the truly sick individual.
After 150 years of 'studying' 'schizophrenics', cutting out parts of their brains, administering electro-shocks, needles and horrific medication, psychiatry doesn't understand ANYTHING about schizophrenia. It FAILED.
Families would do well to check the history of psychiatry before dumping their -typically abused- family members in the custody of these psychotic 'specialists', who are projecting their insanity onto their helpless patients.
And what does THAT mean? Shooting them in the head with a bullet works also, it destroys the schizophrenia.
The medication simply causes a zombi-like state, it's a chemical lobotomy. I can't imagine how anyone could possibly consider that it's 'working'.
Do you realize that going by your standards, you could feed them opium, morphine or heroin as well and those would equally 'work'? They'd make them all calm, peaceful and happy.
@suddenlyitsobvious Medication does not end life like a bullet; thats going way too far. Also, those illegal drugs you mentioned would require more and more to keep effective. Standard schizo meds are not perfect, but a huge number of people can lead reasonably calm lives as long as they stay on them. They regulate dopamine, which is crucial to not hearing/seeing things that arent there.
You sound like someone who has a relative with schizophrenia. People with schizophrenic relatives are in full denial MOST OF THE TIME about how criminal and utterly unsuccessful psychiatry and science have been in treating ANY 'mental disease'.
They can't even define what schzf. is. All they can do is push poison pills.
Relatives feel so guilty about abandoning their loved one to criminals, they prefer going in full denial: 'The meds work, thank God for treatment'.
@suddenlyitsobvious Thank you suddenly. My dad beat the crap out of me and sent me to a mental hospital and my friends parents are trying to get him to take 4-5 medications they are so irresponsibly in denial I can't take it anymore luckily I have found a naturopath. Funny thing is I was never diagnosed with ANYTHING.
@shanyin1234 Yeah, it's important to realize that it's first of all the system that's messed up, society is completely controlled by evil. Because people are born into that society, they become messed up themselves, because they adapt to it. However, this doesn't show, at least not at first glance, because the people MOST adapted to society are in fact the worst nutcases, but society considers them successful individuals. People who are more honest with themselves and have a more...
...pronounced need to stay in touch with themselves and their feelings necessarily get in trouble in this system and confused. The 'well-adapted' then instantly panick, are completely unable and unwilling to question their OWN psychologies, and simply discard the struggling individuals as 'mentally ill'. Professionals then start abusing these victims with poison pills and power trips under the guise of all the best intentions and caring. It's important to understand...
...how sick the system really is and cease to rely on professionals, who have been programmed into psychopathy and are narcissistic, spiritually and psychologically undeveloped individuals. When one doesn't understand it's the SYSTEM that's messed up, one will inevitably accept that something must be wrong with ONESELF. In fact, THERE IS something wron with oneself, because we've all had A VERY BAD START in life, and some massive honesty and perseverance is required...
...to become a relatively healthy, constructive individual. It's important to remember that people are not born evil or deranged, as society wants you to believe, and has been telling its members since ages, first in the form of religion -original sin, guilt and soforth. Then in the form of psychiatry and today in the form of science. It's ALL ABOUT telling us we're basically an ABERRANT SPECIES, evolved from savage hominoids themselves evolved from bacteria (the entire...
...false narrative of evolution), that all sorts of 'genes' and genetic factors basically predispose us for all kinds of psychological and organic illnesses and that most of us need 'help'. In fact, it's all about control and completely degrading people. Your dad was simply a victim of abuse and his degenerate programming himself...
Are you denying that people on meds are being turned into zombi's?
Have you EVER spent some time looking into the history of psychiatry? It's a MONSTROUS pseudo-science, it has no standards whatsoever, no respect for life, for mental health. It's a complete criminal con. Don't be so passive & so gullible, just be honest with yourself and this disgusting system.
@suddenlyitsobvious Actually, we didn't have the tools to understand the brain. I think you need to catch up. A new discovery of Schizophrenia shows that it is an auto immune. It usually hits at age 18, because there is a massive cell death that occurs with normal brains to prune the maturation of the adult brain. The new discovery is that the disease doesn't have an "off" switch of this cell death. It is brain damage!
Pfft. These medications are insanely damaging and psychiatry is a criminal pseudo-science that is an outlet for big pharma. It's DSMIV manual is expanding each year like wildfire and the entire purpose of psychiatry is latching on to human suffering, pathologising it and making it worse.
The father is obviously not in touch with his son at all and appears very interested and focused on Steven being NOT OK.
NOBODY would be OK with the meds this guy is on...
@suddenlyitsobvious You're so right. This documentary is from the late 80's, and psychiatry nowadays is basically at the same place: Psychiatrysts doesn't even know exactly how drugs affect the brain, and at the end of the day, all psychiatry rests on beliefs. Psychiatrysts 'believe' that drugs act in some determinate way, but the worrying thing is that they actually do not 'know' what happens really.
Thanks, always nice to hear someone agreeing with me, rather than authority & the 'experts'.
Psychiatry today is in a place where EVERYTHING gets psychiatrized, pathologized, medicalized & it's interesting to see how much bigger the DSMIV diagnostic manual is today than in the 80s.
There was a time when some shrinks could perhaps honestly think their profession

Anyway, I've developed a theory regarding Schizophrenia. It is a cognitive feature formed by biological evolution. (That means it can be a good thing.) The scientific community and "normal" people are so focused on the negative effects, that they don't realize Schizophrenia's real purpose.

@Slumpnasty What is it's "real purpose" ?

@Slumpnasty I just think that maybe its more likely to be a condition with very few real purposes. If you could tell me how they benefit from it, in the animal kingdom including humans no-one has ever really benefited from being horribly deluded about their surroundings and seeing things that aren't there?
TheYehcheese 3 weeks ago
@TheYehcheese I'd be happy to share my idea. If you or anybody else is interested, let me know. Like I said, everyone is so distracted with the negative symptoms, they're ignoring the cause.
Slumpnasty 3 weeks ago
@Slumpnasty Fine but please answer me this. My mother used to work at a prison as a doctor, she met many schizophrenics who ended up in there one of whom had murdered her own teenage daughter convinced she was possessed. I know most schizophrenics aren't this serious but if what your saying is true then the more schizophrenic you are the better. What benefited out of her killing her daughter no matter what the positive sides are?
TheYehcheese 3 weeks ago
@TheYehcheese Biological evolution is a continual process, and sometimes there are tragic consequences if an organism inherits a "faulty" gene sequence. Actually, I'm starting to think that ALS and autism (even though they are Very different conditions) also have a purpose that scientists are unaware of.

However, we live in a 3d world where emphasis is placed on problem solving states so..

a very good example of a curse is the kennedy family who were deeply involved in the occult.

Familiar or Family Spirit - These are demonic spirits that attach themselves to a curse or to a person who has given them access. The foothold gained by that spirit will remain in the family line, fastening on an individual's sin and rebellion. The person is now not only struggling against the general family traits, but also is contending against the familiar/family spirit.Specifically, curses can contaminate the whole family line with demons.
imelda4jesus 1 month ago
@imelda4jesus A Familiar is a spirit that follows a certain family, actually, they are there to help that family out in what they can and to instruct them. Get your head out of the bible and read some other stuff, you'd be surprised. ^^

@Slumpnasty We have found that almost every type of demon can be passed on spiritual, emotional and physical problems can be passed on. Through inheritance. Frequently, when people manifest the negative emotional characterisitics or even the physical illnesses of their parents, these have been passed on demonically. We have found inherited spirits of fear, death, pornography, rejection, hate, rage, homosexuality, cancer and diabetes.

most ppl with mental problems eg schizopherenia, bipolar and multiple personalities have been involved in the occult or demonic societies such as freemason etc.. Thats why these diseases are generational, cause the demons are inherited from generation to generation. Involvement in the occult leads to mental illnesses, suicides in the family and family breakdowns.
These illnesses are demons and ONLY JESUS can set the captive free, in the Name of Jesus demons flee.

People who are schizophrenia need empathy and compassion. They are there buried deep down inside of themselves and judgement and criticism is the LAST thing they need. They are violent because they are confused and withdrawn.Helping them with that reduces their need for violence.People who are schizophrenic act like logical adults. They think the voices are normal so they are logically upset when people tell them they are crazy or stupid because they don't think they are.Deal with that first
smushy2001 3 months ago
"To beat a baseball bat into the head of a gentleman": That was a JOKE, he was laughing when he said it. And when he laughed in the beginning it was because of the play not because of the "voices". Treating people who are mentally ill like they are crazy is the first thing you are doing wrong.Violent thoughts are NOT a major symptom of schizophrenia.Who wouldn't have a violent episode if you're locked up all day?Why put your son on blast like this?"he wasn't normal anymore":that's what he learns

I don't know how to explain this, but first, I was abused as a child violently and mentally til I was 17.
Lived a very sheltered life, never went out etc,at 18 had to leave home and wasn't allowed to return.
I felt depressed and helpless and suffered major anxiety.
I started smoking marijuananand I believe that just opened up a lot more of my mental illness.
I was paranoid & couldn't look people in the eyes,I felt like I knew what people were thinking & I was right too, voices controlled me too.
miles2057 4 months ago
@miles2057 I began taking zoloft which began to help me, I stopped marijuana because I felt like I was being destroyed and it took a few years for me to get better. Occasionally,I have obsessive compulsive disorders.
Nothing serious, more annoying, where I have to do something,it's better than when I had voices in my head telling me to do things. I'm 32 now.
miles2057 4 months ago
@miles2057 I'm glad someone finally spoke of the dangers of marijuana. All you see these days is how great pot is, but when you fuck around with for a year straight and then it begins to destroy your concept of reality, then you know that's all bullshit.

I tried it and did it because that's what people were doing at the time, so I did it too.

I was mentally ill and if I continued down that path I would've ended up in a terrible way.Luckily,I was smart enough to realize it was doing me harm whereas others thought that it was other people who had the problem and not them.

After 150 years of 'studying' 'schizophrenics', cutting out parts of their brains, administering electro-shocks, needles and horrific medication, psychiatry doesn't understand ANYTHING about schizophrenia. It FAILED.
Families would do well to check the history of psychiatry before dumping their -typically abused- family members in the custody of these psychotic 'specialists', who are projecting their insanity onto their helpless patients.

raleighman3000 2 months ago
@raleighman3000
'Medication works as a treatment.'
They'd make them all calm, peaceful and happy.
suddenlyitsobvious 2 months ago
@suddenlyitsobvious Medication does not end life like a bullet; thats going way too far. Also, those illegal drugs you mentioned would require more and more to keep effective. Standard schizo meds are not perfect, but a huge number of people can lead reasonably calm lives as long as they stay on them. They regulate dopamine, which is crucial to not hearing/seeing things that arent there.
raleighman3000 2 months ago

You sound like someone who has a relative with schizophrenia. People with schizophrenic relatives are in full denial MOST OF THE TIME about how criminal and utterly unsuccessful psychiatry and science have been in treating ANY 'mental disease'.
They can't even define what schzf. is. All they can do is push poison pills.
Relatives feel so guilty about abandoning their loved one to criminals, they prefer going in full denial: 'The meds work, thank God for treatment'.

@shanyin1234 Yeah, it's important to realize that it's first of all the system that's messed up, society is completely controlled by evil. Because people are born into that society, they become messed up themselves, because they adapt to it.

NOBODY would be OK with the meds this guy is on...
suddenlyitsobvious 8 months ago 5
@suddenlyitsobvious You're so right. This documentary is from the late 80's, and psychiatry nowadays is basically at the same place: Psychiatrysts doesn't even know exactly how drugs affect the brain, and at the end of the day, all psychiatry rests on beliefs. Psychiatrysts 'believe' that drugs act in some determinate way, but the worrying thing is that they actually do not 'know' what happens really.
azalem 5 months ago
@azalem
