hey guineapiggify i just wanted to say i completely agre with your post. im glad to see more people are apprieciatng classical music . i am also 12 years old. the planets are my favorite symphony ever! it really intrigues me, and this is real music! unlike pop where everything is autotuned! i recentl plaed jupiter n my band and t was great!
So many more modern artists have ripped of ideas from these movements. Hadnt really noticed untill i sat down and listened to them all and realised id heard parts of these movements in other songs.
Lets not get carried away with the holier than thou attitude. Enjoy it for what it is, and let others do their thing. Music is subjective and there is no 'best' taste. That said, gotta love Holst.
Can any music compare? I think not! This is my favorite along with Mars & Venus. They must have thought back in 1918 that this music was super futuristic.
I have come to the conclusion that Holst was able to masterfully orchestrate the utter essence of fear and tension in Saturn. The gravity of this piece is destructively dark. And the harp and low strings at 6:23 are so powerfully beautiful in conjunction... It awakens a chilling, deep sorrow inside of me...
This is by far my favorite piece of classical music.
Seeing the comments from people my age saying that this is good music is encouraging. I played a shortened version of Jupiter in 8th grade Honor Band, and it was a really fun piece. Kudos to you guys! and yes, I'm a band geek and proud of it. :D
I'm 14 and have to say: Holst is awesome. We're playing jupiter in my youth symphony and I like that he thought for us Violists. If only we were playing the rest...That would be awesome.
When he[Holst] was composing "The Planets", he went astrologically, not astronomically. This means he went not by the 8 planets and their matching gods, but what their signs mean and stuff.
im 12 years old and people sometime tease me for liking classical music rather then the hip rap stuff and say things like "its not even music!" but i dont give a crap cause this IS music and its good music
Wow, its cool to find someone younger than me who likes music like this. Plus, you're right. Rap is not music. It's a rhyme with like 3 instruments and 20 girls in the background screaming. >_>
@guineapiggify - I'm with you! Most people, no matter how old they get, don't understand how great classical music is. I'm 16, and I'm the only person I know that likes this.
@guineapiggify Im 12 years old and i like the classical music too... I didnt really get music when i was younger, but as i got older i appreciate it a lot more and i dont really listen to the lyrics like other kids, i listen to the tempo and beat... I would have to admit i am a nerd when it comes to music... lol
@guineapiggify Absolutely!! I am sick of people thinking Rap is the best thing ever. It will fade just like and other style of music. Hip Hop is a bunch of computers making beats, This is real music, created by people who have real talent and dedication!
@guineapiggify They say THIS is NOT music, and rap IS music? That's bizarre. Don't listen to them, I was the same way, I ended up becoming pretty darn successful at it.
Saturn, the gas planet you can see the rings easily. It also can float on water and is a yellow color. It has the most moons, over 30 it's biggest Titan but not as big as Jupiter's Ganymeade.
this is my favorite of them all i cant help but get the feeling that im getting stalked or followed even though its the bringer of old age!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
y does every video have a "im only 7 yrs old and i like this music"? like that's really supposed to mean anything >.<

Anyone else super confused by the image? It's an orchestra! Way better than two pianos in my opinion :D

This needs to be uploaded with the volume adjusted or something. I'm on a laptop and I have my volume all the way up and I can barely hear it.
