Back in the days where women were allowed to be curvy without being labelled "fat". Just to clear up curvy refers to body shape, an hour glass figure not fat or weight. You can either be big breasted with curvy hips with a smaller waist or have a curvy bottom with smaller breasts etc.

@CandyHeart4U , it's great that you enjoy Nicole's version more. But NK's version does not top Marilyn's in any decent category. Moulin Rouge does only half the song, with no connection between the dance and the overcrowded, confusing nonsense that encircles her. With MM, the staging, the costumes, and especially the well-choreographed dancing that so silkily fits the song's turns is far more appealing and memorable, as is Marilyn's sensual, more rhythmic and elegant singing and presence.

Marilyn Monroe - one of the most BEAUTIFUL women ever to grace the Earth (if not THE most beautiful) - was a size fourteen. This woman inspires me not to conform to the demands of today's society, and proudly say "Curvy girls are GORGEOUS!". I'm only fourteen and this star is one of my greatest idols, and I'm glad I'm not growing up to be brainwashed that size zero is the only way you can get far on this dying planet. This world started falling downhill when true gems like Marilyn died.

@harleyquinnodonnell Marilyn was a 14/16 back in the 50's - thats equal to about a UK size 6/8 today. Even then, throughout her life, she was never bigger than a size 10. She may not have been a size 0 but she was still pretty tiny. Regardless, I think everyone can agree that Marilyn was the most beautiful woman to walk the Earth!

@harleyquinnodonnell Actually, Marilyn wasn't plus size. That's using British sizes. A British 14 is a U.S 10. besides, although her weight shifted, she has an extreme hourglass figure -- meaning that although her bust/hips were like a plus size, her waste was like an average size. I don't think it's right to say curvy girls are gorgeous -- not all of them are. Just the same as not all skinny ones are gorgeous. Gorgeous people come in all different backgrounds and sizes.

Several people have measured Marilyn's film costumes and reported that her size fluctuated from a modern 6-8. At her heaviest, during the "Let's Make Love" period, she was probably a modern size 10.

@TasteTheRainbow411 her measurements ranged. She was quite normal for a person. they were like 37-24-37. That is normal. Mine are 38-25-37. I am NOT plus sized. I wear a size 4-6.

I LOVE MARILYN MONROE... I used to go to the night market before the owner stopped operating his business and a shop owner in the mall just to buy her posters. I even told them to keep new posters of Marilyn Monroe for me. They are very difficult to be bought here. I still have the posters.. they are my Treasures! She is a CLASSIC BEAUTY, SEXY & CHARMING!
