  • 2 super DIOSES!!!

  • Hey that is my friend Claude Gaudette playing keybo' !!! The ultimate gig for him before he passed away :-(

  • It ain't really the Seawind Horns if Larry & Kim aren't there! Sounds great though...

  • What a beautiful voice, so clear and effortlessly flawless.

  • He is WARREN WIEBE! (R.I.P.)

  • who is that backup singer? THis is the best video on the whole of youtube

  • @ChickenTiko He is Warren Wiebe. (R.I.P.)

  • @dixdre thanks!

  • @ChickenTiko Warren Wiebe! this video introduced him to me. this may persoanlly be one of the best vocal performances I've ever heard live.

  • "Moses", once again rockin' the base !! Lee Sklar - just nothin but solid sound and time for so many years and so many artists. Great bassist !!

thank you! Jay&david&airplay♪

  • This is the best video on youtube. Period!

  • i didn't know Jerry Hey was white...he played on all those R&B 80's LP's

  • Is this on a DVD anywhere? I'd love to hear the rest....

  • I just wet myself listening to this !!! "F-in Great muso's

  • This is absolutely amazing! The energy thats hits you when Jay starts singing is simply unbelievable! It has begun, yes sir, and there's absolutely nothing in the world that can stop you to feel it, right? *g* And the whole band - boy!! what a sound and feel, delicious, devine!!! Yeah, yeah, yeah! More pleeeeazeeeee!!

  • The Great Chester Thompson on drums.

  • What ever happened to Sonic Thrust?

  • the preamp for that dynamic mic sounds awesome

I could have sworn I just saw Leland Sklar on bass

unless it was somehow Neil Stubenhaus

Isn't that Warren Wiebe singing back up?

  • @Breckmin forget what I said about Neil Stubenhaus

I was thinking of another bass player. Clearly it's Leland

  • It's not lip-sync it's just the usual badly synced up video to audio. i have lots of DVD's like this. There is a fair bit of post-production on this though! The lead vocal sounds tracked as does the BVs' They sound very thick. Great though!

  • @youbass1 oh yes it is lip-sync, i love this song, i heard the original studio version from the Airplay LP 100 times ! I can tell you the vocals are exactly the same on the studio version that on this live version. All the other instruments are live, but the vocals is overdubbed.

  • Warren Wiebe to the left of Jay...a great great singer... R. I. P.

  • one of the greatest pop songs ever.... amazing arrangement

  • It's singback or isn't it??

  • Lee Sklar on bass gain! Everywhere you go, Lee is there!

  • thanks, my cd with the concert is not working anymore (bad CD-R burned in 2001 or 2002). happy to see this again. with the late claude gaudette on keyboards :( he was a very nice producer. R.I.P !!

  • You can't get much better than these guys. Thanks for posting.

  • Reggityman - yeah, Leland plays all over J Taylors Never Die Young, tasteful is the word.

    /Clas Lundkvist

  • @Leetav: The song is called "Nothing You Can Do About It" originally by these two musicians in their time together in the group Airplay.

  • thanks snelitt...I now have the only album Airplay did, I bought it on ebay from japan after hearing this then the tracks 'Stranded' and 'Cryin all night'. I seriously suggest to anybody who really liked this track to get hold of the album, it is unbelievable! :)

  • is this song called Airplay? soz if to most its obvious im just not 100% sure. Never heard of it before and only heard of Jay Graydon because of an Al Jarreau album (High Crime) i heard last night. Amazing track, and once again thank christ for youtube :)

  • Can anybody tell me if Jay ever recorded this song in the 80's? And what is the name of the album.

  • It's on the self-titled "Airplay" album.

  • Thank you!!

  • Seems like at least half of my favorite songs end up being written by Jay Graydon ... awesome song and amazing band! Love it! (Better than Manhattan Transfer's version by a mile!)

  • I love this song, I love this music.Fantastic Jay Graydon.

  • For some reason, Lee Sklar's fill at 2:00 just moves me to pieces... I keep rewinding to that... Sklar is a bass monster, God bless him!!! :-)

  • Leland Sklar is a monster. His bass track for James Taylor's "Your Smiling Face" is just a clinic on tasteful playing!

  • It doesn't get any better than this! Another great Foster/ Graydon collaboration!

    Mrs D

  • Jay and David just amazing. When we're back in eighties ? :-)

  • Manhattan Transfer did this song back in '79, always loved it

  • Love this song! I remember when the Manhattan Transfer recorded it...but this....is so great!!!

  • THE SONG of reference !!!!! (with "Breaking away" naturally !

  • agree... definitely a similarity :).

  • was this song on the "breaking away" soundtrack?

  • Jay Graydon and David Foster together on an album since the Airplay years

Yeah, it just happened on FLY AWAY: THE SONGS OF DAVID FOSTER.

Jay is featured on an outstanding new version of "Nothin You Can Do About It" and David Foster plays on Boz Scaggs' "Look What You've Done" and the album's prelude.

Other performers include the late Waren Wiebe, Bill Champlin, Jeff Pescetto, Bill Cantos, etc.

Check out this vid! - watch?v=R8ZrEqbo5dw

This is available on CDBaby! Don't miss it!

  • did you know that Foster and Graydon once formed a band called "Airplay"? I have their only album and hope it'll make me rich someday.

  • Just PERFECT!!

    regards to hit man

    -najlepszego z Polski

  • Incredible players.... Poor Warren Wiebbe ! What a great singer - a tragic loss... From what I know, David Foster did everything he could to help Warren's career...

Jerry Hey, Leland, the horns, whew !! True geniuses..

  • Is Warren the chap singing high harmony next to Jay? Man, beautiful voice!

  • AMAZING !

  • great evergreen!

  • what a class... great great band!

Tanks for this beautifull music.GRAZIE.

  • it doesn't get any better than this..

  • there used to be more videos posted here from this David Foster concert in Japan .. But it is not there anymore .. Maybe taken down with the release of David Foster new DVD "Hit Man"

  • Too bad Graydon's vocals were overdubbed from the studio version. The DVD should be released someday, as it's very cool!!

  • hey FOS, rerelease this will ya!?!?!

  • Check out Lleland Sklar on bass...wot a band

  • These guys are soooooooooooo funky..thanx guys

  • Man, I didn't know Jay could sing like that too! I haven't him seen his name much the last decade or so, but he used to play on everthing.

  • Is this great show on DVD anywhere?

  • Such consummate professionals.....David Foster, Jay Graydon, Lee Sklar...masters! Thanks for this beautiful song and video.

  • The best performance live for this song....

  • By a mile....

  • @grandaddova fanstastic as this is (and it IS superb), check out frank adahl's remake. whoa.
