  • probably the socond c64 game to be doomed in germeny.

  • this game was so hard.

  • Fuck me sideways i haven't thought of this game since 86 or so.

Damn all the time i spent just tryin to get out of the fucin hangar.

  • I never played this, but the graphics really remind me of Blue Max, especially the 'explosion' effect, when you hit something.

  • This game used to frustrate the hell out of me when I first started playing because I used to always have trouble getting my flying my jets out of the base. And sometime I'd only get a couple out and had to play with just 2 lives. I eventually got the hang of it though and had lots of fun playing.

  • That damn Helicopter - hated that thing. Don't forget about the other levels too. There is an attack on the Kremlin ( I think) with the grenade launcher and then there is this robot thing that uses something like the tron deadly disc. Ahhh fond memories of cracked software.

  • I had a ZX Spectrum, which I loved but the C64, even for its chunky graphics was amazing

  • Ha... I never deployed more than 1 at a time

  • Damn the man is even bigger than the planes !

  • This looks just plain awesome!

  • This game was the bees. Even though it took me hours to get out of that bastard hangar.

  • Is it better today when you get the whole book to the game to play like Baldur's Gate, etc... Ha, ha, ha it is funny to read we all had the same problems with video games. We were so young and. I had problems with this game too and with hangar but I gave up soon. But I always wanted to learn to play ACE 2 and ACE and never learned to land and tried every now and then. We mostly had illegal copies I believe and they didn't came with instructions. Battle Ships and The great gianna sisters my no.1s

  • Man I tried so many time to open that hanger door, the sound effects keeped me coming back but I don't think I ever opened it

  • Shit I remember once playing this game high on cocaine. High score, HOOO-WAHHHH!!

  • lol I never managed to get passed the hangar

  • Comment removed

  • Nobody can forget that hangar - I guess this opening sequence frustrated a whole generation!

  • This game frustrated me so much when I was a kid! I couldn't figure out how to open the door! Then when I did it just sent me back to the same room. I thought I was doing something wrong, but it was just going to the next plane! I was so young I couldn't figure it out though! Man the game moved so slow too!

  • Oh, that friggin garage:)

  • goddam. the guy is walking on bubble wrap

  • Hehe, for me the adventures in PC gaming begun in 1987 or perhaps in was 1988. It was a long way from there to Crysis 2 today.

We had Atari 8-bit computers then, performance very similar to Commodore 64.

Raid over Moscow was one of my favorites because we lived on the BOLSHEVIK side of the Iron Curtain. This made the destruction of Moscow and Red Square even more exciting, like the ultimate mischief. It was politically incorrect in the extreme.

    :)

  • I remember this game well... when I was in HS used to play it alot along with the 2 beach head games.... This had to be one of very best c64 games ever imo next to FORCE 7 imo =)

sidenote: if you pause it alot after the discs when the plane flys away from island you can make it fly off the screen =)

  • damn, the fun I used to have with this game.

  • Man, I used to LOVE this game.

  • what about the throwing knife fight at the end, with the Yank and the Rusky standing like on those dock pillars? LOL The flying sequences took the scale and dimension of what Zaxxon tried to be, and made it better.

  • A prime example of Russophobia created by Yankee-Nazis.

  • @Thorzanek It's not against Russians, but Soviets. Soviets have murdered millions of Russians.

  • This is a serious provocation against the USSR! Ban this game, at least in Finland!

  • loved that game!!! this is the game that inspired me to start programming

  • Time flies...

  • When I was a kid and played this I thougt you played the aliens and wanted to take pver Russia. The satelitte I thought was a UFO.

The people also look like aliens.

  • reminds me of blue max? never seen this game though

  • Oh yeah, sticking it to the Commie menace (be it Red Square or Red China) never gets old!

Interesting that the game maker's take on near future aircraft (namely the player's plane) resembles the YF-23. Given that jet engines don't operate outside atmospheres, the player's planes probably have either rockets or RAMJET engines.

Tech stuff aside, one wonders why they didn't install a catapult mechanism or something similar to launch the fighters. Took me three tries just to get out the doors!

  • Looks like a combination of Beach Head and Zaxxon.

  • I remember this game. I played it a lot. Yes, take off was not easy sometimes. LOL

  • Awesome game. I remember crashing a lot when trying to exit the hanger :P

  • A true classic and awesome gameplay....of course, the whole idea that destroying the launch sites would stop ICBMs in flight is bogus. But who cares, it's still cool.

  • oh my god this is wonderful! i was 11 when this came out...i couldnt afford a 64 but my freind had one..i had a TI back then...this game was so cool and in its time it WAS the shit...i wish the 3 big console companies now wopuld bring this stuff back on a disk 64 and texas instruments vintage games..yeah it make look old BUT we had to go there befire we got to this point..comparing it to ace combat or something we have come SO far! thanks!

  • I never played it, but 20 years ago this would have given me a fucking boner!

  • Much memories....bad graphics, but we watch it and we love it :-)

  • I played this game. Ah, the memories.

  • Brilliant game, great memories: OMG we have a launch detection - let's walk AS SLOWLY AS POSSIBLE to our fighter, there's not a moment to lose!

  • Loved that game. Those were bautiful days. Now 1900x1200 and super realistic graphics but not the same joy.

  • The game that ended communism.

  • Oddly enough, this is my favorite game of all time. Xbox 360, wii, whatever else... I somehow love this game above all else. I'd love to know what became of the game developers. Anyone know? I never managed to beat the game. Got to the reactor, but never past that stage. Time to fire up an emulator...

  • I played this game all the time but the door never opened for me. What did you have to do to get the door to open.

  • F5...

  • @n3xvs23

i think you just had to fly near the gate...i also played this and found it extremely difficult to steer the spaceship :D

  • As n3xvs23 said hit F5 but make sure your at a decent altitude first(not too high that you hit the celing or the top of the bay doors but not too low) or else they wont open

  • @CoreyD1086 i thought it was f7.. but you had to gain altitude at same time i think.. took us a while as kids to figure it out.. damn fine game though. im 33 in texas and the commo was one of our prized things to pass time fun.. the whole neighborhood

  • @CoreyD1086 Read the manual.

You bought it didn't you? :)

  • @CoreyD1086 I remember my dad brought a copy of this game home, sans-instructions when I was 8. We played this game over and over and over, just floating around the hanger, with no clue what was supposed to trigger the door. I remember finally, after about a month, i started systematically hitting each button on the keyboard, and we figured out the F5 key opened the door. It was a revelation, and suddenly we had a WHOLE other game! :P

  • @CoreyD1086 All you did was flying around the hangar? What a waste of time!

  • Quickshot II to the ready lets go!! lol

One of the best games on the C64 and Uridium classics

  • the best game

  • God damn I played this game as a kid! I had loads of trouble getting the damn airplane out of the hangar but I finally managed it was showtime! :)

  • God I loved this game. I loved the shooting bit at the Kremlin.

  • I had this game when I was young but I could never figure out how to play it. If I still had my c64 I would be playing this game right now!!

  • played this when i was 12 and could not even get out of the hangar should have you been named " raid over moscow once i get out of the hangar " lol

  • not even tetris music

  • The hanger is so easy, the last part is a lot harder.

  • God they made some good games for the C64

  • now this should be a remake!

  • ahhh yes one of the classic C64 games. :)

  • Sitting up until 2AM, last guy remaining, one disc left... into the machine of death, saving the world with sweaty palms and adrenaline all run out.... priceless.

God, this game brings back memories. Thanks for jogging them!

  • i recall playing this on the spectrum 128k, I used to get to the reactor final section but never managed to destroy the robot in time with the rebounding disc explosives.

  • How I used to hate that space hangar...

  • We all did.

  • @Dynergy haha yeah i hated that too! ;)

  • omg..wow.

I always found it difficult to get out of the fukn hanger!!!!

  • Is this played on an emulator? The sound is off for some of the SID's filter sound effects.

  • amo este juego, me encantaba estar pegado horas en mi commodore :)

  • holy shit this game brings back memories. great game for its time

  • Excellent game! Best action-game in the 80`s!

  • I miss my ol 128..beat this game alot..fun as hell..I'd suck at it now lol

  • Cool game.

And, after seeing the other versions, I can honestly say that the C64 version kicks serious ass. The other versions (Atari, ZX Spec., etc.) don't compare, especially with sound.

  • Astonishing!

  • OMG this is so funny. I did a search and did not think someone would have this. I remember crashing when trying to leave that spaceport crap. LOL.

    C64 FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • GREAT GAME PLAYD THAT A LOT IN THE 80`S.

  • Finally, someone posts a clip of this game. I played the hell out of this game back in the late 80's. I hated that last level with the discs.
