everything about Arnold was just what that era needed, he had the personality, character, looks, body, energy, charisma lol i mean if he hadn't been in any movie and made the success he's had, it would had been and outrage.
I love how old school bodybuilders don't have that big gut problem like today. Hgh completely ruins your waistline, something the greatest bodybuilders had to give them that classic and such an artistic body shape. Ronnie Coleman, Paco bautisita ect have the worst waistlines ever! Paco has no symmetry and his body shape is straight like a ruler. No small waist. I'd say Frank McGrath has the best physique for a modern BB.
70s and 80s had much better looking bb'ers than today. Today's bb'ers are bigger and more defined yes but they look extreme. It doesn't look natural. Just imagine what they will be like 20 years from now.
Its not all about size, its about proportion, development and of course definition. He probably could be more defined if they had the technology of supps and roids like they do today. These guys today have way too much vascularity bc of the roids.
he was in proportion, he really understood what body building was about. anyone can pop steds and go mad, but he appreciated it a lot more i think and knew what made a beautiful body.
He really is like three different people, his attitude and personality changed with whatever suited his career (at the time) the bodybuilder - the actor - the governor

I believe Arnold was really training for his big hollywood movie Conan then decided to enter the Olympia to see how he,d place and came first place, which was an outrage. Most the guys he competed against must have realized bodybuiding then was a circus act where Arnold was the Lion or King of the Jungle The main attraction.
@leetbean Dude, his leg's didn't fit perfect. Not in 75 and 80. His legs weren't small, but they could have used more size to be in perfect proportion with his upper body.

While I am a die-hard Arnold fan for most of my life, this contest was a fix - Arnold was just a shadow of his former self when he came out of retirement to enter the 1980 Olympia.
Compare this video to Arnold in 1975 when he was in Pumping Iron or when he was even better in 1974 and he's not even close.
Mike Mentzer probably should have won the 1980 Mr. Olympia as he was in phenomenal shape.
tbh, i prefer a body type like this. not the one that seems as if they're about to explode...

Mike Mentzer > Arnie
BrickhouseB2 7 months ago
@BrickhouseB2 During what? One night? Hardly... Arnold beat Mike in every bodypart pretty much.
RocksBodybuilding 7 months ago
@RocksBodybuilding Nope. You're wrong. Arnie had better biceps (not triceps or forearms) than Mike. And he had better pecs.
That said, his proportions were way off and nowhere near as perfect as Mike's.
And, yes...I'm talking about at the 1980 Mr. Olympia. Which, you may have noticed, is what this is a video of.
BrickhouseB2 7 months ago
@BrickhouseB2 No way Arnold's triceps were better. His forearms weren't yea you're right, but he had better tri's than Mike.
RocksBodybuilding 7 months ago
@RocksBodybuilding NOPE!
Anyway...I love them both and both have served as tremendous inspirations to me.
Peace.
