It's like a time machine. All of the sudden I'm back in Kansas City and it's 1993, I'm 9 years old, chilling in my Dad's old toyota jammin. It took me years to find this song, I would just sit at the computer and think for hours, "what was that one song", and I found it tonight. By the way, this would be really embarrassing if someone I knew, knew I loved this song. oh well.
@Urgessa Ha ha, When you were 9 years old in K.C., I was 21, at a famous dance club called "The Edge," downtown. I remember they'd play mostly house, but once in a while, they'd play this. It does have that K.C. summer feel to it -- windows rolled down with not a care in the world!
I had heard the song years ago but had never seen the video until now. Unfortunately, every time I see the lead singer, all I can think about is Britney Spears and her wigs after she'd shaved her head.
Great pop song in the vein of the early Stock, Aitken and Waterman hits. Would someone tell me who is the blonde, sitting on a revolving chair, wearing a hair band 0:40 ?
@ZachClooney Just found out that my comment about this tune being similar to the ones by Stock, Aitken and Waterman was more than ON THE MONEY! This song was written and produced by those guys. And it would have gone to Kylie if she had stayed with them.
Read what I wrote again and you will notice that I did say that they 'look like' not that they are bitches, a sexy smile or a wink might have been nice.
This is a great song but I can see why they didn't last song they look like a group 90s bitches, I mean the lead singer does not look very friendly does she.
All pop hits have something in common and Kool & The Gang knew that. Here is a good example; a solid bassline, quarter-note open hi-hat, a good rythm guitar part and sing about love.
Thanks for posting this great circa early 90's video. I heard it after a long absence on sirius radio the other day. Great memories. Even though I graduated high school in 85'
I don't understand why capable singers like that can't have longer careers. There were, back then plenty of pop song writers that put out hits one after another, that could have written material for them. It does escape me. I have heard of the lead singer being to fast n the trigger of lauching a solo career and that flopped, but I am not sure.
I loved this band. I remember seeing them perform when they first had this hit at The Salem Fair in Va and I met them later that night and they were really cool and nice
Stock Aitken and Waterman dominated the mid to late 80s and early 90s! ...Their
crowning achievement was Kylie Minogue but others they had woked with such as Sonia, Hazell Dean, Mandy, Lonnie, Sinnita ,Princess and Banarama all were succesful with them too, to varying degrees! This song by Boy Krazy, as well as
their later hit in 1993 Just Like a Dream Come True, is further tetsimony to the enduring talents of the SAW/ PWL hit factory dance machine!
WHOA! Back to the mid-90s! A time where I was going through the tough times of adolescence, worrying about my continually degrading school grades mostly, no jobs yet, if girls will like me, puberty, etc...
i just heard this on XM years after first hearing it!! had totally forgotten it!! btw, this version sounds a little different, the one i remember (and heard on XM) starts with "that's what love can do"
@starsweet4 This is the 1991 version of the song, which was a remix of a slightly slower version. The version you're referring to is from 1993 and was edited down to radio length from the Hot Mix (remix service) version, which was played on KS104 in Denver, bringing it to the U.S. and finally to radio.
I remember jamming to this in the Summer of 1992 but could not find it anywhere. When I asked for it at the music store they showed me the Prime Cuts DJ-Only record that had it and said it was the only thing they had with this song but those records cost like 25 dollars each. It finally came out in 1993 as a single. The long version was boring and sounded nothing like the long version the radio played. Sounds great at 20 years old! The originals version is interesting too.
Did a Cover Girl commercial just break into song or something, and this is what became of it? Damn catchy tune, though (one that's now stuck in my head)...
This is a forgotten gem of yesterday. You never hear this one anymore. I remember the first time I heard it on the radio. Afterwards it was on every station everyday, it just exploded in popularity.
Prime PWL pop brilliance - one of the best SAW songs they did in the 90s, proving they could make hits in the next decade not just the 80s. Listen close this reminds me of another obscure 1992 PWL song: Former Miss USA Suzette Charles' Free to Love Again. The vocals, the groove, the hook, the edits at 1;50...perfect.
I love this promo - fantastic mix of this song. Love the original too. Was a young man, full of piss and vinegar hanging in FLA when this hit the airwaves... brings back a lot of memories for this Canadian boy...
I was in Europe and was listening to American top 40 with Shadoe Stevens every Saturday on the radio. I was so upset that I wasn't able to see the video for this song (song was never released as a single in europe so MTV Europe never played it.)
Man, I really love this song! Reminds me 1993, i was 7 year-old, but i remember my old sister turning on the radio and this song playing loud on the saturday's morning and was a lot fun, cos always loved this song, and it makes me feel a sweet big happiness...or if wasn't her, some neighbour here used to do the same...great memories!!! I miss it so much...please, bring back the 90's!
I like this version of the song better because the structure of the song makes sense, the version that became a hit is shorter and is weird with the chorus at the beginning.
That fifth girl who left the group looks like Pink! :-) It's always shocking to see her in there. I think this is one of the best songs of the 90s (certainly the PWL re-remix!). The ginger one also has a great voice but Johnna should have been a huge star. Her solo album just wasn't good enough -- 80% of it sounds like the same Euro trance remix! Best moments: Pride and Some You Win.
@jeffee50 I wouldn't necessarily say its the BEST pop song of all time. Its good, but thats about all. Yes, I am aware that everyone is entitled to their own opinion(s). Boy Krazy was a good female singing group. They all had pretty singing voices. They are ONE HIT WONDERS at its best.

@TheBabyheather If you like this type of songs, why not check the work of Stock, Aitken and Waterman. They wrote this song, originally for Kylie Minogue. Check out the early Kylie songs, as well as Sonia, Rick Astley, and others.
@ZachClooney hmmm it's funny that this group was "manufactured" by corporate businessmen just like current pop groups yet this is actually good unlike the crap today
@starsweet4 I agree with you 'starsweet4': Boy Krazy were "manufactured" and an interesting precursor to the Spice Girls. I feel sad for the Boy Krazy girls that they were not able to go on to dominate the world like Scary, Posh, Ginger, Sporty and Baby Spice! It is a genuine shame. And the lead singer in this song has been suffering with addiction like Amy Winehouse. Yet, she lacks the fame and fortune for everyone to care.
@starsweet4 the 90s pop still had something even though we know the agendas to make young people stupide from the start...but it was still good this song lol...i mean look at sick lady gaga givin birth to a demon child in a video or hers...ouf....

Actually it was released in some parts of Europe, but
only managed to peak at No'80 in the UK chart,

In Asia it was much more successful and was on a heavy
rotation at MTV Asia (where it peaked @ No'5 in their weekly chart).
