  • Now this is what I call a real blues band! I never got to hang out with Little Walter, or Muddy, or Rice Miller, or Jimmy Reed but, I hung out with Sam many times. I've been on the bandstand with him too.. and learned some serious lessons from him. I sat and watched him, countless times, on the bandstand.. and I used to think how lucky we all were in Dallas to have him there and that, one day, it would be gone. Yup, he was a PROFESSOR and one who is, sorely, missed. God bless you Sammy Myers!

  • the oyster house, shereveport, la, circla 1985, occupency 10, cold beer oysters on the halfshell with Sam, Anson, etc. time of my life. See you in heaven!

  • I was sitting at a table with Sam at a Blues club in Dallas between sets years ago when out came the silver cigarette case. I pulled out my Zippo and offered him a light where upon he said got my own Bro, then proceeded to light mine! R.I.P.

  • Excellent!!!

    Grandma Mary

  • I remember chatting with Sam in '88. He told me about his days playing drums with Elmore James. I loved to watch these guys in Helena, Arkansas, sitting up on the levee under the stars during the King Biscuit Festival.

  • A great band... was lucky enough to see 'em many times while Sam was still here.

Try to find a vid that has Sam pulling his silver cigarette case out of his coat pocket and lighting up while Anson takes a solo... LOL... I miss that.

For those who don't know... Mike Judge played bass in this band many moons ago. So if Anson looks a little like Beavis, there's a reason for it. Heh heh.

  • i saw Sam a number of times in louisville, ky about 20 yrs ago. i met him one time after a show. he was pretty intimidating with his size and height. i asked him where they were playing next and he grumbled, "we play all over, son!"

    ha!

*i just found out he has passed away. dang. * :(

  • god bles him

  • definitely the professor and could take us to blues school!!!! great stuff!!!

  • I've been trying to find a copy of this video for purchase on the web. Do you know where I can buy a copy?

It's supposed to have Little Charlie on it as well - but I'm more interested in Anson.

  • a sweet a sound as ever to see sam play again thanks for the memories R.I.P

  • Sweet memories. The only time I was completely sure I've f.... up: -91, Sam had no voice at the rehersal. Anson sat backstage after the 1.session wondering... I reasured the man, and the second set was... Magic. Afterwoods, I got two bearhugs. 1. Anson 2. Sam In the middle of the last set, I knew why I've used so much of my spare time. Mr. Myers, RIP Regards, from Bremanger, Norway
